If those picture's were legit we would see more from different angles and it'd be nice to see someone turning it on, holding it or at least putting a piece of paper that has JR<3 written on it.

You know how leaked pictures work.. you always need a piece of paper with your name on it.

There is nothing Apple can put into this revision to make the 15" model worth $2000, Not Blu-ray, not high-def screens, not a faster processor, not bigger hard drives, not more RAM, not anything.

you know, i do agree, for the most part, but if we're taking everything into account here-

Blu-Ray, High-def screens, faster processor, 500GB hdd, 4-8GB DDR3 RAM, and TWO (very doubtfull, but TWO) graphics cards... that would be a completely justified $2000... probably more.

im as a big an apple fan as anyone but i dont have to point out all the obvious. these pics are fake, they're good and well timed of course but they're not of whats coming tomorrow.

explain how they are fake.

it's easy to say they are fake. back it up with evidence.

That would certainly be worth about $2000, but not much (if any) more. But Apple would probably charge $2500+ for that. :(

Update 2: Our source just hit us again to say that it's two full-on NVIDIA GPUs -- wild. Wilder still, they say the MacBook and 17-inch MacBook Pro aren't getting refreshed tomorrow, which we find hard to believe, but we'll see when we see.

Does anyone see any sense in this at all?

After all the photos and rumors about the macbook and engadget says no MB or 17" MBP update tomorrow.

Wow! The crap is flying now. It's getting near impossible to tell possible from junk.

I wonder why the cheapest one is the only one with a "K" at the start? Not a MacBook? Is it the MacBook mini?

That's what I'm hoping for. Preferably as a tablet of some kind. I'd love an 8" tablet, that can do an on-screen virtual translucent keyboard that's split-thumb (like the samsung q1 family), but that also has support for USB and Bluetooth keyboards.

I posted about something like that, in the iPod Touch forum, a while back. It'd be nice to see that come true.

Internal Flash choices of 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, full size SD card slot (or two), either an Express Card slot, or an internal PCI Express Mini card slot (with optional AT&T card available), and an add-on docking station for charging and port replication for external monitor, keyboard, mouse, storage devices, etc.

Yup, I'd be ALL over that. Esp. if someone sold a "docking station" for it that effectively made it into a netbook, and/or a shell that makes it into a twist-screen convertible tablet/netbook.

I'm due for a new machine at work... if they announce this tomorrow, that's what I'm buying. Otherwise, I'll be looking at those hackintosh mods for installing OSX on a Gigabyte M912.

i hope my school computer store sells the 2499 model (if the rumored pricing is indeed true) for $1999 as they often did with previous MBPs. :D

I see a little circle spec at the top where the webcam should be, but it's hard to make out. What I notice about it though is that it seems slightly off centered, to the left.

no, that's centered.

you're not considering the angle of the shot and/or screen.

MBA is a high-end netbook. Netbook specs crammed into a full-size case with a lovely over priced price tag.

The MBA should be $899 no reason for it to be as high as it is.

I'm pretty sure you're not serious, but just in case you are, you do realize that netbooks come with Intel Atom CPUs, right? Have you ever used one? Do you realize how slow an Atom is, even if it is 1.xGHz? They also have 8" displays an tiny keyboards. The Air has neither of those, yet it weighs about the same as the netbooks do!

But you were probably not being serious, and just trolling...

Maybe the guy is setting things up for the Apple event for tomorrow and has a tiny button cam or something equivalent.

The guy is literally putting his life in jeopardy to get us these pics and you are complaining about camera angles and paper signs. Jeeez!:D

it's pretty much a guarantee that MBs and MBPs will also be updated tomorrow.

whoever started that rumour should be slapped upside the head.

bottom of laptop looks consistent with recent case leaks, top looks tapered.

This is interesting. Is it me or is their no magsafe power port on this?

To me it looks like ethernet, mini-dvi, usb, usb, mini 4 pin firewire, video and audio.

But then looking closely, you can see where the magsafe is it has be retouched, the same with the long slot (can't remember its name), and a couple of other holes. The paint used to retouch is not a perfect match so this are not original photos. If true, someone is messing with the photo prior to "leaking".

From TUAW.com

Update: Commenter 'anon' took a peek at the geotags for the image and has come up with some interesting details...

Take a look at the geotagging information for this picture. It's taken with an iPhone and was taken at 37.3231658936,-122.0148315430. A simple Google Map search shows this location is 1.6 miles from 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA. Anyone else have any insight into the relevance of this location? It appears it was taken on Stevens Creek Blvd, which there happens to be an Apple retail location but it's a few miles away.

explain how they are fake.

i dont have to explain it, they're fake. its obvious after the excitement dies down. there are plenty of fake points in the photos themselves especially the second one.

- K29, MB382LL/A $899.00

My prediction is that that's a new-gen "mac mini".

Why raise the price?

Even then, didn't the invites for tomorrow's event say "The Spotlight turns to notebooks"?

I don't see the relevance in the Mac Mini making a come-back on the day set aside for notebooks.

The new Pros are up on apples website!!!
THEY SURE ARE!!!! LOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOL

(sorry, couldn't resist being stupid)

Not that easy to Photoshop well - so in fact the uneven blurriness is evidence that the photo is real.
Very interesting. I still can't wrap my head about these being legit from the closed lid photo. The lid overhangs and looks like there's been editing on the ports. But if that's the case, how can the open lid photo be legit?

i'm talking about the first one, really.

you kind of do have to explain it, really.

The update sequence on macsoda.com is pretty funny (in case anyone is looking for some nerd-type humour)
Hahaha indeed! For those who are lazy:

What do you guys think? Is this the real deal? Of note, there’s no button on the trackpad (but it doesn’t appear to be glass), there’s a magnetic latch, the black chiclet keyboard is there, and the screen resembles that of the iMac.

UPDATE:
This is it. Engadget updates it with another pic from their source. They also claim that the MacBooks will have not one, but two nVIDIA chips inside the MacBooks. Nice to hear further confirmation of our story!

UPDATE 2:
Upon further inspection, it appears that the left side of the box has a slightly modified iLife logo (below is iLife 08). Compare and contrast, and draw your conclusions.

UPDATE 3:
Uh… say what?

"Our source just hit us again to say that it’s two full-on NVIDIA GPUs — wild. Wilder still, they say the MacBook and 17-inch MacBook Pro aren’t getting refreshed tomorrow, which we find hard to believe, but we’ll see when we see."

That casts a lot of doubt as to the authenticity of the pics. Tomorrow is going to be very interesting…

UPDATE 4:
Arnold Kim, of Macrumors, believes its real. Via Macrumors…

“I’m pretty confident this is real.

arn”

This story just keeps getting better and better…

UPDATE 5:
Gizmodo posted the same story as Engadget, but with their watermark. This makes it less likely that Engadget got it from their source, and much more likely that a fanboy who is amazing at Photoshop sent the image he made to all the gadget sites in order to get his 15 minutes of iFame.

UPDATE 6:
We’ve think they’re real.

UPDATE 7:
We think they’re fake. Zoom in to the pictures and you can see some obvious brushing and see through effects.

UPDATE 8:
They’re fake everyone! JR, the man behind these pictures, had another “leak” not too long ago… and we all know how that turned out!

FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE, FAKE!

Go yell it from a mountaintop!

UPDATE 9:
Stop yelling. We’ve heard they’re real from a familiar, and reliable source. We are not sure what to make of it though… they seem extremely fake, and the proof is in the pudding (see pictures).

I guess there’s not much to do but wait.

UPDATE 10:

Am I crazy?!? These have to be fake!!! Arn must be wrong! No MacBook or MacBook Pro 17 inch update tomorrow?!? What?!? But it’s Arn!!! Arn is always right! He’s a Macrumors God for crying out loud!!! GAHHHHH!!!!!!

As an aside, *I* first read that on Engadget (that 17" wouldn't be updated). Did Arn write that in this thread as well?
