Probably, but it doesn't hurt to prey to Jesus himself that they will be better than that.

You don't realize how convenient a laptop truly is, even just around the house, until suddenly you're chained to a desk for anything on the computer.

I know what u mean, i just sold my iBook in anticipation for the new MacBooks and now i am stuck in a chair in front of my PC, macless, it sucks.

Exactly - it's gonna be great! :D

Now combine that with Apple's multi-touch display technology which they have patents on, and that would be one simply amazing system.

Ok, let's sum this up. The upcoming Macbook will have the following features:

-13,3" multitouch display with a new groudbreaking surface absorging dirt and body fluids and transforming those into electrical power.
- OLED screen with 2560 x 1600 resolution
- 10TB Holographic Hard Memory (up to 40TB BTO)
- wireless predicitve cerebral input (apple brainScan technology)
- Optimus Keyboard (http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus/)
- Blu-Ray RW/HDVD RW Superdrive
- 1TB L4 Cache (replacing RAM)
- Fuel Cell Power lasting 12 years on non stop 100% Load
- no AC adaptor required (see above)
- nanotube based quantum cluster CPU (socketed)
- nanotube based quantum cluster GPU (card)
- Two ThunderWire 204800 ports

If I don't get what mentioned above, there's NO WAY I'm gonna buy the Macbook. :p :p :p :p :p

I haven't read all the posts, but IMO, they will have the same specs as the minis, and be $1099, and $1299, equally more expensive too...

I think there is a good chance you are right. But if you are, I'll be keeping my ibook G4 for a while. A price bump with a downgrade in graphics (please don't even argue the intel integrated is equal to a radeon 9550...) would not do it for me (unless they did a hell of a job otherwise... mostly on the screen).

I still think a 13.3" widescreen will feel small, but I'm interested in seeing if Apple goes back to offering different colors.

i checked out some window ones, and the resolution can be much better. The vertical res sucks for any kind of real work. But i'm otherwise partial to WS.

That must be why you can't plug your mouse into the keyboard port.

There's no power for the mouse electronics. Especially the optical mice with the red LED.

I've often wondered why Apple puts those completely useless ports on the keyboard.

</sarcasm>

point taken. I guess what I should have said was:

when I plug my flashdrive into one of my keyboard's usb slots, I get this:

The USB device cannot operate because it needs more power than is available.
To correct this problem you can:
1) Plug the device into an electrical outlet if it has a power cord.
2) Unplug the device and plug it into another USB port on your computer or other device that is plugged into a power cord.

the usb ports on your keyboard dont have enough POWA.

</fix>

WHAT!?!?!? No direct neural interface or the holographic iChat display. I can't believe how Apple expects to charge a premium price for cheap crud like this!

You obviously have no idea of what Apple's multi-touch display actually is - there is no need for a keyboard, it's right on the screen! :D And a 13.3" display is way too small to be functional. :p ;) :)

Perhaps this will give you a better idea of what I am referring to.

I know multitouch. The actual source of the video is: http://mrl.nyu.edu/~jhan/ftirtouch/
But it can't replace a keyboard, especially a nice one with OLED screen on each key so the keys can actually have icons normally squeezed into toolbars. :D

I meant this kind of screen: http://mrl.nyu.edu/~jhan/ledtouch/index.html :)

Actually...

Tomorrow's announcment will actually be:

iPod Hi-Fi Mini: half the size, $249, with a center handle so you can carry it to the beach!

iPod leather cases: now in tan!

Have a nice day!!!!

Flashdrive, or rechargeable device...

"Non-powered" USB ports have 100ma of power, whereas "powered" ones have 500ma.

Are you saying that generic USB drives complain about the "unpowered" 100ma port?

I can understand why MP3 players with rechargeable batteries might not be happy with 100ma, but a USB flash drive?

Personally I won't buy one. We all know the smaller Hi-Fi Nano will be out soon anyway

I've got a 256mb memorex flash drive that I've never been able to plug into my keyboard. its 1.0. maybe old tech required more power than flash media today. i guess I assumed they were all like that.

This is my prediction for the Macbook:

1.66GHz Core Duo processor
512MB RAM standard
Radeon X1400 Mobility
60GB hard drive, up to 100GB BTO
AirPort Extreme
Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
Magnetic latching system
Apple remote
iSight built in

$1099. :)

I would be more than thrilled with those specs. The price could be cheaper though, since the processors did just get a price drop.

That's really nice looking. I approve.

I don't think thats beyond being realistic. I approve of that solution to the graphic card/integrated graphics dilemma. However I think it's imported to make a $999 price-point. It's strange how a hundred dollars can make a price sound like so much more in the minds of the buyer. But then thats why products cost $99.99 and not a hundred bucks.

I have two brand new flash drives, both 256 MB, one is a Sony and one is a PNY.

Neither one will work with the keyboard ports, so you aren't alone.
