Two weeks unopened for full refund and returned at Apple's expense - they send a return shipping label to you. Opened I'm not sure. You can call an Apple Sales Rep to get that answer.Azadre said:Does anyone know Apple's return policy? It will so be worth the wait. Hang in there. Figure out a temporary contingency plan until they ship. It's gotta be in June. Perhaps even late May. Even though that guy is an Apple Store employee, even he doesn't know exactly when it's gonna happen.mikea said:I just talked to someone who works at an apple store in my area. He told me not to hold my breath. We will be lucky to see this thing in June. According to him it is not happening in May.
SO after that I went to Best buy and went shopping for a sony...That bums me out! ONly becasue I need one by early June. The current ibook just seems old to me (in computer years)..I will try and wait a few more weeks.
bummer

perugina said:Well, the "Macbook" should be out any day now, because I went ahead and ordered a new iBook G4 yesterday from Apple--this is how my luck usually runs.
My iBook G3 (dual USB) is now 5 years old, and is giving me too much trouble, so I could wait no longer. Too frustrating.
I figure the new iBook will last me 2-3 years, anyway, before it is obsolete.

Tmog said:I am getting desperate - when is the MacBook coming? I am really close to buying a MacBook Pro instead (probably what Apple want me to do). The only thing that is holding me back is that I do not really need a powerful computer and the that I am worried about the rumours that the new MacBook will be something completely new.
My question is: Do you think that the new MacBook will be a complete redesign or just a slightly modified IBook with "Intel inside"?
Apple employees know no more than we do.. I think they like to think they do.. But they don't. I was in one a few days ago and they were spitting me a bunch of knowledge that well, I had read on here earlier that morning. they know nothing, no one knows anything.. Period.mikea said:I just talked to someone who works at an apple store in my area. He told me not to hold my breath. We will be lucky to see this thing in June. That's right BugSitter. You can call Apple and ask them for return label and they will pay return shipping as long as you ship it within two weeks of receipt and you will get a full refund perugina.BugSitter said:Oh, dude, don't open it yet! The new Macbook WILL be out any day, as they have to catch that lucrative educational market. My 12" 867mhz g4 powerbook is dying (screen faling apart, antennae cable sticking out, dead dvd drive, missing keys, no cover over the ram slot), but they new macbook will easily be 4x faster than the G4 models, and will last far longer than a G4, so I'm holding out.
The Macbook has been in production, and as the rumors go, it's only a matter of the marketing department giving the green light to announce it. My hope is that they announce the Macbook this week, so that they have the full consumer line-up available when their advertising sweeps start this week.
So if you can resist, don't open it for two weeks -- I believe you can send an unopen Mac back to apple within that period for a full refund!
Well from what you've written it looks like you just need a writing computer for like MS Word 2004. So if that's the case your 1.33 GHz 12" or 1.42 GHz 14" iBook will be fine. You could also sell it for a few hundred less right away and eat the difference for the new one when it comes out. Just be ready to sell it as soon as the new one is out to get the most money for it. Check out the Opera Web Browser for speed and fit on that iBook. I just found it through another post here and it would be especially good on that small screen because it has a fit to width mode you will love. Good Luck.perugina said:Thanks BugSitter and Multimedia for the advice, and I know you are both right! But, my problem is that my little old iBook is hardly running, and I have an article due in two weeks that I must finish and submit (I'm a professor).
I can't return the iBook G4 I just ordered, because I had it customized to up the memory and hard drive so it would run faster.
In a couple days I will have a new computer, much faster than what I have now, and can get my work done without fighting this one all day long. And, after a couple years, I will either try and sell the G4, or give it to a family member, and then buy whatever revision of the Macbook that is then on the market.
I have been reading this site almost daily for a couple of months anticipating any Macbook info available, and have been really impressed with the support and knowledge shared. What a great resource!

PS Did Apple say it can't be returned for refund because it's a special order?
