doesn't matter what it is, it reflects a case where the opinion of others matter!
There's a significant difference between a decal on your computer and a job applicant. If you can't understand the difference, just give it a few years... you'll figure it out in time.

it's exactly the same thing, some people might find it repulsive, some might not.
although a decal is taking it to the extreme. that however wasn't what I originally commented on.

all i'm trying to prove to you is that it does matter what other people think, not that some lady is going to slap you for having a decal.

Here it is, I almost ruined it trying to take it off with my fingernails...make sure you use a knife or something to get under it if you have to fix bubbles or anything.

zap me! :D

I'd be afraid to scratch my MBP using a knife...

this made me lol so bad! :)

;)

I found that a credit card wrapped in a microfiber cloth could push out all but the most stubborn bubbles, but I guess that only works for low surface area decals.

I think decals are too kiddies if there are super heroes, hello kitty or... like um... graphic effects.

I rather put my company brand name over it, looks more professional in a way.

To each his/her own. My personal opine is to leave it slick as it already is. But to coin a phrase that will surely date me: "whatever floats your boat!";)

You will never prove that to some of us. When you acquire sufficient life experience, you realize that it just doesn't matter to you anymore. And your life becomes exponentially easier when you do.

I think they're pretty cool, I've bought some vinyl to make my own though, just have to get my design on it - somehow!

I'm a huge batman fan and I actually like the decals. I wish however, that the apple sign didn't replace his chest bat icon.

It works that way for anyone mature enough to realize that going through life trying to please other people is a great way to screw yourself up.

that truly is the best way to live life, been living life not caring for ages and as you can see im pretty awesome, oh wait, u think im not? GUESS WHAT; I DONT DARE

Decals are like tramp stamps for your laptop. Some people think it's cool, everyone else that matters think they're trashy :p

two guys walk into a coffee shop wanting a job, one guy looks like this

the other like this

who do you think is more likely to get the job? hypothetically.

attempting to reflect public opinion, not insult a public group.

At a coffee shop? If it's anything like the ones near me, it'd be the "hot emo boy" link lol

I am now considering getting my company logo and integrating it with the apple logo in the middle by asking the girl in the web design team to photoshop that for me and making a custom decal with that.

But yeah, with regards to individuality and conformity, they don't always have to conflict with each other. If you are in an office environment, sure you probably shouldn't dress like the emo guy in that post but if you like the work and that makes you happy (like me) maybe you won't be too bothered by the office dress code (I work as an associate producer for a gaming company).

I am one of the naturally "too aware of others' opinion" type but in my experience, that can also hurt your work if you don't voice your own thoughts when it counts and I have had a pretty bad experience because I would just do what my boss said without question and things got messed up.

Anyway, learning to balance the two for variety of situation is what makes us more mature in life in my opinion.

You guys calling them stickers is making me laugh. The modern 3M that most of the custom vinyl sites use nowadays is easily removed anytime and leaves zero residue.

I personally think decals look cool, it tells a lot about the person who owns the macbook.
I can imagen in some cases, like when you have to visit customers for presentations, it is better the have no decals on it since it looks more professional.
Like most people here say; It's your Mac so you can put decals on it if you like. In no way I think they would make a person cooler or lame.

Here's a terrible quality pic of my MBP... I think the picture doesn't do it justice. I chose the all-white vinyl to match the coloring scheme (aluminum body, white apple), and it looks so sleek against the aluminum. I don't like the colored decals (to each their own) because I think it looks totally like a sticker. But I've received a ton of compliments and some people have even thought it was manufactured with the picture on it (oddly enough). I love it.
