I may very well be regurgitating old news, but MOSR speculates not only that Apple will keep the iBook moniker (an idea many people have mocked) but that the MacBook will in fact be an entirely seperate line. Thus, the iBook would be a lower-end consumer notebook, matching up with the Mini, the MacBook would be midrange, to coincide with the iMac series, and the MacBook Pros would be the mobile PowerMacs (or whatever).

Interesting idea.

I love the concept and there certainly is enough room for a couple new price points!!

Reading MOSR is like reading an article in The National Enquirer about a mother who gave birth to twin conjoined aliens with three heads. It may be entertaining, but no way in hell is it accurate.

Now that's some funny sh*t.

No graphic designer at Apple would produce a graphic with as many typographical flaws as that. Look how close iLife '06 is to the edge of the ad. It's not the same spacing as on the left. Plus the middle 9 ($999) looks different.

My thought seems to follow that whenever Apple releases a product on it's own without an event, like the 17" MacBook Pro, they give it at least 2 weeks as the poster child on the homepage. Then after that anything is game. If I recall correctly it was about 2 weeks ago that the 17" MBP was released.

Not only that, but look at the digital camera that is in the pic (the top middle picture on the bottom right side of the ad.) I am pretty sure it's an old canon elph, that came out about 3 years ago. It's definately not a camera that would be on the ad of a new computer. The screen on the camera is no where near what ones are today. Just my little input/2 cents

Apple Online Store Dwon?

While checking on an order, at 4pm PST, I get that the Apple Online Store and phone order center is temporary unavailable due to Scheduled Maintanence. Who in their right mind would take down a store at 4pm PST? Is this a hint that something is happening tomorrow? Can other people please confirm the store is down for them?

Yes you are, and please don't encourage any more people to visit that site and get their hit count up. that's just not nice.

The store is up?

Yes the store IS up but for 4 hours the online ordering system, and area where you check your order status is what is down.
Well, it's obvious, then, they are gearing up for the hundreds of thousands of MacBook orders they are going to be receiving tomorrow. 😀

6 hours and the online ordering and phone ordering center is STILL down....

They're planning for tommorow. They're gathering everyone together, and hiring some new ones as well. Every apple employee is out on the streets recruiting innocent civillians, so that they'll have enough workers to take all the MacBook orders tommorow.

They're going to recieve one million macbook orders tommorow, and they'll need all the extra workers.

I don't even want to think of the wait time. How many MacBooks could they have made in (Depending on rumors) for two weeks?

When is 'tomorrow'?

Quick question: When does "tomorrow" begin? It's 2:20am my time. Any guesses? Should I just go to bed and wake up at 8am and check the site? I'm very anxious - I'm starting grad school in a few weeks and was about to drop over $1k on a iBook a few days ago and *thank god* I started reading this forum - and I can't stop!

Thanks.😱

I'm from Australia, and it's 5PM, so the Apple stores will be closing soon. Still no sign of the MacBooks. No sign of any new activity on the website either, though I'm not sure if we'd be behind the US or anything...Our uni semester's almost over here and I was really hoping I'd get one before my exams so I could USE it!!! 🙄

Hi, welcome to wonderful world of international trade.

If there is an release on the Apple Store (online one mind you) the store will go down at about 11pm - midnight EST with the store coming back online around 1am to 2am.

Don't even pay any attention to our resellers, they will get products when they begin to ship to everybody else.

The life of an Aussie MacAddict is a very early, insomnia inducing life.
