Yes they do. Mighty Mouse Is A Two Button Configurable Mouse. And the thumb button on MacBooks as well as all Aluminum PowerBooks and all G4 iBooks with iScroll2 installed can be configured to right click when you have two fingers on the trackpad or by tapping once on the trackpad.
My vision is for a Mighty Mouse style trackpad.

That is a very good point. I am not sure why everyone is so sure that the 12 inch PB is going to be eliminated from the line-up.

Right now, what are the major differences between the G4 iBook and the G4 PB?

Good point. Unless your a Mac service technician, many don't realize design-wise the 12" Powerbook have more in common with white iBooks. Really, the only thing the 12" has in common with the 15" and 17" Powerbooks is its aluminum enclosure.

So it's been delayed for a week

It's obviously going to come out next week. They had a shortage of stock and wanted the old iBook to sell out before bringing in new stock. Apple know what they're doing. And the MacBook is going to be amazing.

Control + Click = Right Click

The legacy way is to hold down the "control" key while clicking with one button. That is the "traditional" right click in the Mac World. 😀

Please explain how owners of the MacBook Pro are able to display the contextual menu by using two fingers on the trackpad. My understanding is that the software you mention only works with older G4 PowerBooks...

I think those settings are in the Keyboard & Mouse System Preference Pane. Nothing to do with iScroll2 in MBP.

Cooknn? Isn't this covered in the MacBook Pro documentation somewhere?

i've tried iscroll and didn't like it very much...two finger scrolling isn't my cup o' tea. i much prefer sidetrack on the ibook...horizontal and vertical scrolling, configurable corner tapping, etc...nice app.

Probably fake. But does fall in line with the rumors. (however, I will be quite surprised if the low-end model sports a core duo AND a price point of $999)
HOLY MOTHER! Nice find. 😎 Eh, AppleInsider has posted all along it will have core duo. I would have guessed price point of $1099, but $999 is way cool. Makes me guess integrated graphics, tho. 🙁

Hold on to your mother and read the posts. It is fake. No question about that. Now, back to reality...

Damn, there I was jamin' with my ear buds in, click the link. BAM rip them out of my head and get way to excited. Damn apple, just show us the MacBook!!!

I totally a agree with you 100%... Apple, if you release the MacBook Ill be your best friend? How about I give you some candy and a possibly of more candy.

GAHH!!!

I go away for 5 days, to a Byron Katie workshop, and I come back, and theres STILL no macbook. You know what? It's not getting released. It's just not. Ever. Take my word for it.

And if it ever is released, it will be a 333mhz G3 Proccesor with 32mb of ram and a 3GB hard drive, in comparison to what we were expecting, and all the hype about it.

Does any one here ever discuss building your own or is that off limits? You know, that 10.4.5 disc floating around here and there? Of course, it's not stable, but I am not to tech savvy nor do I have the time to fiddle with such things, this hoping the macbook will have dedicated GPU so I can run garage pro or rather pro garage? And final Cut/motion.

Thanks!

I looked hard at the settings - was just at CompUSA again, and didn't see anything regarding right click functionality. I don't think I missed anything... Let's just hope they get it right on the forthcoming MacBook 😎

[EDIT] I stand corrected. Apparently it can be done on the new 17" MBP but not on the 15", yet. This will be something that is surely a part of the new MacBook, which is a good thing indeed 🙂

The way to activate it on the 17" is:

  • Open System preferences
  • Click on Keyboard and mouse
  • Choose the tackpad tab
  • Under trackpad gestures place a check mark next to "place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click"

No graphic designer at Apple would produce a graphic with as many typographical flaws as that. Look how close iLife '06 is to the edge of the ad. It's not the same spacing as on the left. Plus the middle 9 ($999) looks different.

My thought seems to follow that whenever Apple releases a product on it's own without an event, like the 17" MacBook Pro, they give it at least 2 weeks as the poster child on the homepage. Then after that anything is game. If I recall correctly it was about 2 weeks ago that the 17" MBP was released.

MacBooks Tomorrow?

We'll have to wait and see. Oh god i want them to come out. I've been waiting, so tempted to buy an ibook, but i'm waiting. How long is it going to take😡 😡

well, i'm not too optimistic about tomorrow...by now we'd have some grainy elevator pics or more rumors of it...it's been so quiet this past week that i highly doubt the MB's appearance tomorrow. nothing to see here...

Well, what can one say, but "Salieri".

im with you on that... i bought a 14'' ibook and returned it that weekend beause i'm going to wait for the macbook. if it doesn't come out friday at the latest, it's not going to come out for a long time. so i'll buy a powerbook

I may very well be regurgitating old news, but MOSR speculates not only that Apple will keep the iBook moniker (an idea many people have mocked) but that the MacBook will in fact be an entirely seperate line. Thus, the iBook would be a lower-end consumer notebook, matching up with the Mini, the MacBook would be midrange, perhapsto coincide with the iMac series, and the MacBook Pros would be the mobile PowerMacs (or whatever). He makes mention of a 'MacBook Thin' and 'MacBook Gamer'.

Interesting idea, if completely unsubstantiated.
