If you want a MacBook Neo delivered on launch day next week, you might want to act fast, as the laptop is beginning to sell out for March 11 delivery.

MacBook Neo pre-orders began March 4, and the initial delivery date was March 11. But now, Apple's online store in the U.S. shows that some MacBook Neo orders placed today are estimated to be delivered between March 16 and March 30.

Here are the estimated delivery dates for each configuration as of 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time:
  • 256GB/Blush: March 16 — March 23
  • 256GB/Citrus: March 11
  • 256GB/Indigo: March 11
  • 256GB/Silver: March 11
  • 512GB/Blush: March 23 — March 30
  • 512GB/Citrus: March 23 — March 30
  • 512GB/Indigo: March 16 — March 23
  • 512GB/Silver: March 11
Apple Store availability for in-store pickup varies.

Without knowing how much supply there is for each configuration, it is hard to draw any conclusions from the delivery dates listed above. If we assume that supply is equal across all configurations, then Blush and 512GB configurations appear to be the most popular options in the U.S. so far during the pre-order window.

With a starting price of $599 in the U.S., or just $499 for college students, the MacBook Neo is likely to be a hit with both students and average customers who need a Mac for everyday tasks such as web browsing and document editing.

Apple does not release Mac sales figures on a model-by-model basis, but the company's next quarterly earnings report might provide some broader insight.

Called this. A lot of narrative around the value here at $499 was so blatantly dishonest for two reasons. One, that is not the starting price. No one says a gallon of milk starts at "free" because WIC exists. Second, everyone was going to buy the top end at $700.

Again, last week you could get an M4 MBA for $799. Apple bottomed out the floor so hard that it has left folks with amnesia.

Sure, it’ll fly off the shelves for the USD $499 education price. But in Canada, the non-education price is $999 for the Touch ID version, while you can currently get an M4 MBA for $1039 on the Apple “refurbished” store. Better act fast tho lol.
A lot of people don't even look at or considered refurbished as an option, so I don't think that it's fair to compare the prices of new products to refurbed ones.

no backlit keyboard in 2026 is shameful.

It's clearly Apple's differentiator. They already push you to pay $100 more for touch ID, so now it's $700. Want that backlit keyboard? Then it's only another $300 and you can get a MacBook Air. Oh and you get double the RAM, M5 chip etc. Actually when you look at it this way, the Neo isn't that great a deal at all.

They've done the same with the recently launched iPad Air specific Magic Keyboard, which has lost the backlight the previous model had to push you to the Pro.

It’s not like Apple makes refurbished easy to find on their store. And many people don’t know the difference between certified Apple refurbs (of which I have purchased many when they represented good value) and sketchy Amazon and Geeksquad reconditioned products.

Bought my 74 year old mother who just plays games and searches the iinternet an ipad for xmas ... If this was out then i would have bought this for her for sure for multi purpose use she has a chromebook which is always giving her issues. thats the demographic for sure. I would even consider this for my kids for school although it would be purely school device, as they spend more time on a gaming computer in the house.

Yeah so those shipping times are meaningless. Walk into an Apple store and pick one up.

Like when the latest iPhone launches. "OMG the iPhone 19 Pro Max Ultra 256GB dusty blue shipping time has slipped to 2029 😱😱"

I’m a bit surprised that the Indigo one (which I love, and I wish it made it into the MBA line) is selling less than the citrus and blush ones. But then I remember who’s this machine aimed at, like MKBHD said, and it’s not me.

Thanks

Right, people just forget that. A joke. Every store will have plenty, and this thread will simply seem silly.

Yeah, I think most people aren't aware of how clean Apple refurbs are. They were indistinguishable from new from my experience. Some have to be just old new stock. No way someone could refurb a laptop/phone etc and not leave a single fingerprint on it. They even have that new smell lol.
