any news on UK apple store? The reason I need to get it from the apple store is that I can get 15% student discount off from apple, so around £900 for the macbook which I think is much more reasonable.

Checked a few best buys and Apple Stores in Houston today. Best Buy employees seemed pretty obliviou, but most of them said they've been trickling in and out. The Apple store in the woodlands made it sound like they had been getting regular shipments but hadn't seen any in the last week or so. Told me to check back tomorrow at noon when shipping caught up after the holiday.

How are you guys checking for the open box ones? By walking into the stores or using the best buy website? I've been using the best buy open box inventory website, but no rMB have shown up within a 50 mile radius

I saw a few open box models on Best Buy's website, but they eventually disappeared.

Picked up a 1.1 SG 256 at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose today. They had both stock models of the silver, and the 1.1 Gold 256 available as of 5p PDT.

I don't know if this is the case for all locations, but I called about three Apple Stores in Southern California, and they all have the gold MacBooks in stock, as well as many other configurations. I think it's a good idea to check out your local store. If you are calling to check the inventory, state "Speak to someone at the store" and they will transfer you to the store themselves, rather than to some generic Specialist.

Was told by an Apple Store representative that the 1.3's most likely will not be in stock at least in the beginning. Has anybody found this to be true?

Yes, it's only Built-to-order currently.

Thanks for the confirmation; if I wasn't so picky and I didn't order the gold 1.3 GHz Intel Core M, I would have bought the Silver they had in stock at the Apple Store weeks ago.

I have the Gold 1.3 GHz Intel Core M now that came in super early from it's projected date in June, I am super happy with everything about it! Apple has made a new MacBook for the masses! Finally I have a MacBook that I won't be returning as I bought and returned the MacBook Air, 13 inch MacBook Pro and the 15 inch MacBook Pro.

Thank you Apple! :apple:

How come Tekserve has so much availability? Are their MacBooks legit? the ones in the Apple stores are flying off the shelves...

No luck in Festival Walk at Hong Kong. The staff said they could get few models occasionally. I guess I need to check the stock in the opening time.

Physical stock is now available on the Mainland (Shenzhen), best bet is one of the authorised resellers, there`s many around the city. Forget the Shenzhen Apple Store at Holiday Plaza, physical stock is nonexistent, way to busy, the very few that are received fly out the door instantly, nor do they have any USB C adaptors etc.

I picked up a Silver 512 & USB C to USB A adaptor in Shenzhen, at the KK mall, stock Apple pricing. Be warned some or the resellers are +1K CNY for the gold models, equally no surprise there. Last I looked in HK it was a wasteland, with no stock.

Ironically my need for an ultraportable, was becoming pressing, I had planned to go to HK to pickup a Surface (english version), while passing time waiting on my appointment for CN visa renewal, I went to KK mall as it`s close to the PSB facility - done deal :apple:

John Lewis, Oxford Street (3 year guarantee): none
Apple Regent street: had one silver left last Wednesday
Apple Birmingham Bullring: none, expecting stock in a few days

Picked up a 1.2 Silver this morning from Manchester Arndale :)

Was in there yesterday to get a repair sorted on my MBP, mentioned I was going to switch to a MB. They had no MBs in stock. As I use it for work I was introduced to one of the Business staff, and he said he would take my details and let me know if any stock came in.

Rang up the store by chance this morning to be told they had no stock, but then about 30 mins later got a call from the business department, they had just had a surprise delivery of 4 of each spec/colour. So he put one aside for me and I picked it up :) If you're in Manchester they might have some left if you're quick...

Shenzhen, Southern China, all rMB base models on display, all USB C accessories in stock, Retina MacBook; zip, nada, zero, nothing, basically not a chance, nil stock...

I bought a USB C Digital AV Multipart Adaptor today, and was asked some interesting questions by the staff at the Apple Store:
  1. Did I purchase from the Apple Store online - No local reseller.
  2. Why did I prefer an authorised reseller over the Apple Store - No physical stock at Apple Store, sick & tired of asking same, with tomorrow never comes response.
  3. Why did I choose not to purchase online - Does not meet my work schedule, due to extended waiting period, coupled with a general lack of confidence, as even Apple Store has no solid conformation of stock. Don't want to deal with damaged or DOA via courier/post, does not meet my expectation as a customer.
  4. Did I pay a premium - no, although some resellers are asking above Apple RRP across Asia especially for Gold ($100 - $200)
  5. Opinion of USB C - Definitely a benefit, equally for early adopters at present
  6. Pleased with the rMB - Yes, equally the launch is literally a none event for many, with little to no clarification from Apple.
Naturally Apple, being Apple I took nothing away from this conversation, other than Apple acknowledging that the Store`s Have no physical stock. when asked my opinion of the situation - I stated that I considered it a significant retrograde step on Apple`s behalf, store`s with no stock, is what it is, and a trusted reseller who honours their word will gain return trade, for computers & peripherals.

Take from it what you will, personally I am non the wiser, nor do I believe the Apple Store staff are, rather simply following instruction & checking boxes.

Picked up a Space Grey 512 1.2 at 12.30 yesterday from the apple store Covent Garden. Working nearby, so had been by every day for the last 2 weeks or so. Nothing. End of last week, regent street had stock of the gold models, but this was the first Covent garden had "in weeks".
