Got my second screen replacement, first for yellow tinge and second for heating issues, at my nearest apple store service always got the same panel model 9CA4. BTW without issues it's a great display.

Finally got a good one!

Congratulations. I have a 9ca4 and it is excellent

i agree i too got the 9CB6 and it is AMAZING. Best display i've ever had, sorry to those who've got defective ones.

edit: the panel is a HR glossy

Also 9CB7 and no flaw to be found.
Beautiful display and I am a little surprised there is actually nothing that i would increase of the font size although I am switching from 1280x800 on 15.4" which is obviously a lot bigger.

Can you all please specify if the display is glossy or matte?
Posting only the code is not much significant!

Thank You!!

The code already specifies if the display is glossy or anti-glare - see the original post.

I've had delivery of a second replacement (now my third MBP). This was also a 9CB7 - it has some slight light bleed at the bottom (the 9CBB has none at all) and is still warm compared to the 9CBB. There is definite yellow shift in the bottom half of the panel - this is again not rectified by calibration.

I've probably had a close look at about 15 different High res anti-glare 15" MBPs screens now (9CB7 - that is the Samsung panel is much more common compared to the LG-Philips out there - about 12 v 3 out of my "sample"). They all display this change in hue. I'm reasonably sure it is related to the LED backlight and the particular design of the backlight in the MBP.

For those who claim not to have the problem - no offence to you - it is there and for whatever reason you don't register it as being unusual/a problem.

9CB6 Samsung HR Glossy

Dead Pixel Test: 0

Yellow Tinge Test: None

(bottom gray bar is very slightly lighter gradient - it will be on all panels - but no yellow tinge)

Perfect display with respect to those criteria.

Beautiful!

New LG 17inch AG panel is good!

New member here but a long time lurker:)

My new MBP 17 AG was swapped today due to the infamous yellow tint and the new one is good. The first thing I noticed was how white or cool the panel looked out of the box vs my first which had the very saturated and contrasty Samsung panel. As someone who works with digital photography, the more washed out LG is actually nice to have since it's more accurate in terms of saturation and and contrast.

LG-Phillips (I think...)

I noticed a lot less saturation, too dsc888. Also I think there's a slight purple tinge on the right side. But it's cool with me, no dead pixels etc. But the yellow tint on the last screen was far, far more distracting. Now if these hard crashes would stop happening I'd be all set. That's why I don't want to send this unit back! And get another yellow screen!

xaquaticx, I hear you man. I have not noticed the purple tinge but now you got me looking:D. But yes, the yellow tint made me mad and I couldn't take it anymore. I honestly liked the colors of the Samsung but I am willing to compromise on the whiter LG. I will get used to it. I do seem to see more detail with this panel. It doesn't crush the blacks like the Sammy.

The screens really are quite poor in these MBPs!

Have been through 5 now... four 9CB7s and one 9CBB. All had the same yellow tint, though 9CBB considerably less so.

I've now just asked for a refund and will be looking to get an HP Envy 14 when it is released in the UK.

Does anyone have the default Color LCD profile for the 9CBB (15" antiglare LG-Phillips). I think I deleted it, and now I want it back. I'm a noob, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Agreed. Gosh I'm glad I got a good screen for my MBP replacement. They put in extra RAM too. Hey, you know what Nick, non-issue, maybe you were just holding it wrong! :p

I have had 2 hard crashes. If I have another I'll return it for a MacBook sad to say. But I'm making myself wait to see it one more time, since I finally got an an apparently rare good display!

No yellow (but maybe, perhaps, slightly lighter at bottom??...or I am paranoid)
Can't find the "Pixel test" others have referenced
2 week old 15' standard

First Post!

It seems like my backlight isn't being distributed very well. Also, when I work w/ solid grays in Photoshop, there seems to be a yellowish tint in the bottom 1/4 or 1/5, but maybe I'm being paranoid. How does this compare to other screens?

Panel model: 9CA4

Haha to be honest, that's a little depressing!

I think it's something I can live with, but it's just frustrating that Apple doesn't use high-quality panels in their pro laptops.

Well I find myself lucky not to have yellow tint, dead pixels, white blotches. All of which I have had in the past. This screen by comparison is quite nice. I sold my 27" iMac after months of trying to get a good screen. The yellow tint was awful on the one's I had. After awhile running back and forth to the store for exchanges and change our of panels wasn't worth it. I have had my last imac. Anyways I digress. I like this MacBook pro. Gonna keep it for some time I hope

New series have less defective screen i guess since this thread is down for a looooong time.

Nope, not as far as I'm aware. Think we just got bored! ;)

I actually said screw it after returning my i5 15" for a refund and got a MBP 13 instead after not being able to find any other notebook that I liked. I've swalled the whole C2D vs i5/i7 pill and I have to say, bar the lower resolution and the glare, the screen on this MBP 13 is excellent in terms of backlight uniformity and no yellow tint. It's also significantly brighter, which was surprising.

so a bit of thread necromancy, but perhaps appropriate to resurrect the thread due to new models coming in.

anyhow, I received High Res Glossy 9CB6 LTN154MT07 today and the screen is absolutely fantastic.

my 2011 15" mbp with antiglare has 9CB7. absolutely perfect in every way - no dead pixels, no tint, just awesome.
