I think it doesnt work, neither on Win nor OSX due to expresscard slot limitations http://support.villagetronic.com/faq.php?cid=1&answer=3#f3

Anyway, there will be a thunderbolt solution for multiple monitors, i am very sure :)
Ahh that sucks :/

I'm not worried about multi monitors, I just want it for the the extra video performance with the add of an external graphics card.

But the bench's on the 6750 don't seem too bad. Want to see a few more before I decide to get one though.

Well the performance of the 6750 is more than enough i guess. If you want more, just get a windows PC for 500 bucks that easily outperforms every notebook on the market ;) The ViDock would run you 300 bucks + the price for Graphicscard anyway.

Yeah and still have $1200 left over to get a 13" MBP for your Mac fetish.

I can't believe the thought of buying the $2200 MBP entered my head for a few minutes. Thank goodness the benchmarks and some logical posts flushed that thought out of my head.

I just made these HD videos showing Call of Duty Black Ops, Battlefield BC2 and Crysis 2 - with fraps and etc. It does look pretty good.
This should settle the whole "can I game with my macbook pro or not" issue.

Great videos. I can't wait to try Crysis 2 on my 17". Got to wait till next Monday or even tuesday. It's getting harder..

I have my 17" 2.3 w 6570 up and running. I'd be willing to run any kind of benches people would like to see. I have a lot of games in Steam for Mac and CoD4, UT2004, SC2, C&C3/RA3 (all for Mac).

For Windows I have tons of Steam games as well, Supreme Commander and a few others.

Just let me know which game/OS/resolution/settings you'd like to see and I can try and accommodate at least a few requests.

Dude, thank you. I'm really torn between the 15'' and the 17'' and some benchmarks would be fantastic.

I'll list a couple of games I would like to see the Min / Max / Avg in Windows, all of native resolution, if you wouldn't mind (either go native or go home! ;)):

StarCraft 2
Dragon Age (either is fine)
Any recent Total War game (Empire, Napoleon or Shogun)
Bad Company 2 / Black Ops 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Magicka
Civ V

Any other demanding game you feel like it =)

As for settings... I would like to see at least everything on High. I don't know if it's unreasonable to expect the 6750m to feed recent games on High to a 1920 x 1200 display, but I would like to see it try.

Thanks for doing this.

Oh, and congrats on your beastly machine.

stock :
GPU 500 -> 650 Mhz
Memory 790 -> 900 Mhz
Shaders 1100 -> 1430 Mhz

original 3dmark06 score : 6700
overclocked 3dmark06 : 8900

also some members in macforums were able to get 9500 god knows how...

thanks

3dmark06 : 9500 ?! who ? let's find out.

StarCraft II in - MAC OS X - runs (at Ultra) at 35 FPS average, about 30 minimum. Gameplay is more than smooth enough for me to play. Haven't tested Windows.

Note for SCII that the following modes exist:

Low, Medium, High, Ultra, Extreme. Haven't tried extreme yet, but will soon.

Just for all you SCII fans out that.

1440 x 900. I've viewed the 1680 x 1050 and 1440 x 900 side-by-side and haven't seen a difference, honestly. But the FPS is going to be slightly lower.

For those saying the benchmarks convinced them not to buy the 6750 MBP, sucks to be you. This is one amazing machine, and I moved from a custom desktop with a GTX 460, playing every game on the highest settings possible. If this is capable of playing SCII on Ultra with smooth play, I have high hopes for almost any other game out there. Perhaps you shouldn't be an FPS whore (There's virtually no difference between 32 FPS and 64 FPS).

Can anyone tell me wether or not ATI Tray Tools are working ? Also it seems as if GPU Z can not detect the clock rates properly...
What driver did you install ? After Bootcamp installed the stock drivers, i had no problems installing newer drivers, however the Catalyst Control Center is not installing properly. When i tried New Vegas it was slow as hell, it seems as if the clock rates were indeed only 150Mhz each, just like GPUz showed...

Is there some sort of Powermizer ? If so, how can i turn it off ?
I will uninstall all things related to ATI and reinstall the stock drivers, at least i should be able to play then...

Sounds like your card is stuck in 2d clocks. you can try using amd gpu clock tool v0.9.26, this allows you to set your desired clocks manually. I have used it on a number of mobile ati cards.

If that doesnt work, try and download the latest msi afterburner (2.1 beta 7 i think).
That will show you your clock speeds and should also allow you to change them

I can try SC2, Dragon Age (provided I can find my discs/image), Black Ops, L4D2 and Magicka. I'll try to get at least a few tested tomorrow.

Its on the way!

So I've just ordered my first MacBook pro, it's the 17" 2011 edition with 2.3Ghz core i7 intel (sandy bridge) processor with intel integrated HD 3000 graphics, 4 Gigs of RAM, 128 SSD and antiglare finish. I'm expecting it around Wednesday next week ^.^ it took me the longest time to decide on these settings, (just quietly i also picked this up for $3050 Au:rolleyes:, cheaper than the apple EDU discount) Something that helped with the pricing initially was the fact i dont think many people knew was that apple care can be purchased for your device before the end of the 12 month cover, it MUST be before, but it does not have to be purchased at the counter ON TOP of you large expence (very happy about and dont care) Apple Macintosh :D

The ability to change myself, does not void the warranty, the RAM and SINGULAR* HD to whatever i may like in the future was very handy as i wont have to pay for labor to avoid VOIDING the cover. the smaller SSD was always my first choice, it was cheaper than the other SSDs, i would be able to put all of my music, photos, games and os onto this SSD, improving system performance to a 250mb/s throughput (read and rite speeds -7500RPM = 7ml/s vs. SSD .1 ml/s), and then time machine it to my current (seagate 1TB external HDD via usb 2.0, this is where i currently house all of these thing) i will be leaving my 650 gig + movie collection on there at least until i buy a new SSD drive.

The 128 SSD more reliable and faster than the ATA drive and was just enough + more room for what i would need on my computer for now until SSD becomes under $1 a gig or there about for purchase (C'MON OWC! lol). Also! the complaints from people about the heat distributed by these machines is intense with reports and quotes from people who are taking back 13" macbook pros because of the fan noice when doing general tasks like watching a movie or even in some cases surfing the web (hoping a software update can help) i chose my 17" to combat this in the long run with even heat per pound (KG) distribution to try and combat the fan noise, i own currently an HP Pavillion and it is very loud, even as i type this now lol. The extra screen landscape was also something that came into mind, i know for me personally that i like to think about small gadgets as something that i would love to take with me everywhere that do everything and are just so small and simple, but i also wanted that large immersible screen space to cover more of my viewing perspective

I am more than happy to post FPS rates, i DEFS plan on getting SC2, crysis and maybe even sims 3 (a franchise i have been very passionate about over the years but have not had the chance to plat the third installment because of hardware restrictions in my current laptop) i am also very keen to play any other demos' you may have in mind. i will be running these in OSX, (does anyone know if using windows 7 to game on my laptop, will i see a performance boost/ less strain on the system?) I am unfamiliar with how to obtain benchmark programs for specific games, and what general benchmark programs to use, this info would be sweet! i also would like to know, if i am to be putting win7 on my mac (either bootcamp or parallels 6) will i need a virus program for both os's and what are recomended, preff FREE!

i also will be buying 8 gig ram for when the BEAST gets here to feed it to him before it eats my HP lol so the system will be a bit more improved :)

this forum has been a lifesaver! hope i can contribute:D

Is anyone willing to post videos of the gmes running benchmarks at all? Not playing with fraps, I mean running the built in benchmark tools of the games and then posting a video if it? You could run it at maximum settings, no AA or AF.

Any good free screen recording software? I guess I could use Fraps to record the SCII games and have the built in FPS monitor going.

Ok, tried this...none of it works. It seems like it doesnt even recognize the 6750 :( As for the afterburner, it does show me clock speeds, but i can not set them higher than 600mhz for the core for example and even trying to keep them at stock rate wont work...its always 150mhz only...at least according to Gpu-Z..
My framerate doesnt improve either...

So "which" driver should i install ? I tried Rivatuner as well by the way, but my card basically gets treated like a display...no way of even seeing the overclocking options :(

Try that, probably similar for the AMD card.
