I think it would be nice to make a poll, voting for the most common options we would like to see in new mbp. Just to see at a glance what most people want.
there is no way they will include 8gb ram standart... 4 is more than enough for most people.
All the more reason to discontinue the 13" MBP. Can't have the bastard child of the MBP line outshine its' bigger and more powerful siblings.\Can't see much more on the 15 and 17" CPU/GPU wise.

If not discontinue it then move the 13MBP back to just plain old MB status. Oh wait... it was there once before it became pro.![]()
I hope this doesn't happen but it just stands to reason that the more laptop offerings Apple provides with similar sizes the harder it will be to keep them all unique from each other (and priced accordingly). Up until the arrival of the revamped Air, that feature distinction was screen size but that distinction will get blurred as the Air blossoms into a viable option.
Oh the tangled webs we weave...
we could just get rid of the old MB, the white one... it does seem "useless" as the MBP does out feature it even though they are "remarkably the same" weight and battery life wise.
they have too many 13" models out there, so i fear they will slice them off soon. the question here is which one will be next?
It won't be the unibody white MB. This is Apple's #1 selling notebook. I'm not sure if this is because $999 is the "sweet spot" in Apple's pricing structure or simply because the damn thing is white. Most likely a bit of both but given the meager $150-200 difference between the two similarly spec'ed machines I'd say it was more due to color - something I guess I'll never understand. But hey, this is AppleLand.they have too many 13" models out there, so i fear they will slice them off soon. the question here is which one will be next?
The MB won't be discontinued but you bring up a good point. I can see Apple not changing a thing on it but dropping the price. I doubt they'll lower the specs on it like they did mine. (An early 2008 model which came with a stock 2.4ghz C2D but was removed as an option so the new MBP's would look better). If MacBook is discontinued, then Apple has to drop the price of 13" MBP to 999$. Personally I would like to see e.g. 799$ MacBook with even lower specs. That would be sufficient for most people
Agreed. 13" is the sweet spot for laptops. It makes perfect sense for Apple to have as many price points as possible.I think all 13 inchers still sell pretty well. MBA is a totally different beast from other 13" Macs. Even though MacBook is only 200$ less than MBP, that is a lot for a student for example. I bet many people don't see the point of paying more for MBP because MacBook offers nearly the same features for 200$ less.

But maintaining all that variety costs Apple money (i.e. costs you and I money). Unless of course they make up for it by gaining market share I suppose. It worked for Wal-Mart.I dont see why having options are bad. Choice is good. 3 different 13 Ingjerd is fine by me.
Ain't gonna happen. This is about the only prediction I'll make with 100% confidence.I do wish they would drop the sd card slot and get the express card slot back in the 15"
Your dreaming if you think an SSD is going to be standard. Do you know how much those things cost!![]()

Black anodized aluminum would be killer.![]()
With a good design the wear makes a black anodized machine look better. Have you ever seen how of the high end SLR cameras wear?A killer with a lot bad looking scratches.
x2. I'm still using my late 2006 MBP. The one with the ATI graphics. All the models since then have been rather mediocre, and I can't justify the cost for such marginal improvements.I really hope that the next macbook pro would be awesome. Awesome enough for me to get one.![]()

Now with the Core i7, that's enough of a CPU bump to get me to upgrade. Just need to work on the GPU, the current nvidia ones that Apple is using are so blah. If the new MBP has awesome ATI graphics, I will definitely upgrade.
