I am in Sacramento as well and mine just changed to preparing for shipment :D I hope we get them this week!

Might seem like a fiasco to "us" on this thread because we can see when someone leapfrogs us....the rest of the world can't !

And me :(

Apple seem to have totally dropped the ball on this one. It's rapidly turning into a fiasco. And if that wasn't bad enough, the ridiculous business of merging things like TB-> Ethernet adaptors in the destination country adds another couple of days (at least here in the UK). I think the least Apple can do for us is to ship the adaptors etc. separately and take the hit on the postage cost

Seriously unimpressed Apple!!

preparing for shipment

Hi, just saw the preparing for shipment this morning.
Order on 5/13 (changed the order from 256 to 512gb on 5/14), and was in the 3-4 week range, July 12 - 18th. 2.7/16/512. Am I lucky? Should it ship this week?

If any of you are interested, here are the benchmarks comparing my old MacBook to my new MacBook Pro. :p Just a little bit more power. ;)

note: the MacBook on the right is the 2.3GHz 15" MBP with 4GB RAM and 750GB HDD @ 7200

True, but it shows that they must be having some pretty big production and/or inventory problems if they can't ship in order

Bottom line is that they weren't ready to start selling these on the 11th June

IMO, it would have been better for TC to have announced "Available from 25th June. Pre-order from today"

anybody know how long its taking for apple to go from the Processing/Getting Ready for shipping change to actually being deliver to London... I ordered stock 2.3/8/256 on the 13th haven't heard anything and just preying that a miracle happens and it arrives on thursday... Any chance???

Preparing for shipment. Spreadsheet being updated now!

Pumped

4:00 AM in China. Did it just switch over or are you just now having time to log in to check for the day?

Still wondering how the 768GB orders are going to ship for delivery to some of the June 29th users since some of them are standard shipping option.

I am watching the spreadsheet to see when the first of the 29th 768'ers prep for shipping so I can get ready to authorize my banks drafting of the $ for soon after.

Guys, I hate to be a bearer of bad news, but I've heard that there have been Retina MacBook Pro screens "ghosting" and the screen stops working after an hour or so of use. I'm praying that none of ours on here have problems, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a delay in shipping if Apple decided to start trying to fix the problem at the manufacturing level. Also, I would imagine that (rightfully so) people with this problem are leapfrogging to the front of the line and getting new RMBP's shipped to them as replacements. This would also cause a delay in our shipments.

Nooooo.. Please GOD no! I don't want that to happen to anyone in here.. For gods sake! I've already sent back my iMac 27" two years ago because of the backlight bleeding.

Well, we will see when my computer gets here on how bad it is. I sure hope not I don't have these problems.

I think we definitely need to get applecare for these bad boys.

Can't find a single reliable (or any) source for these reports. In addition, everyone I know that has one has reported nothing of the kind.

Calling BS on this.

Actually, that is not what it shows, anyone who has worked in a supply chain managed environment knows that you often do things in batches, if Apple takes that approach, they might spend 1/2 of a daily shift just building a specific model, maybe today they are building the 2.7/16/768GB models but yours will not be built until tomorrow. There are high levels of efficiency when building the same thing over and over, companies do it all of the time.

This is the reason that they provide a range, the only guarantee that they make you is that they will get it to you by the end of the shipping range. They know that within their schedule for the rMBP there are only a few combinations of what can really be ordered that has an effect on the internals ... 3 processors x 2 ram x 3 HD options ... there are 14 combinations (3*2*3)-(4 because the 2.6 and 2.7 do not have a 256GB HD).

With 14 options, and the fact that they provide a 7 day range, they could only build 2 different combinations each day.

Nah, you probably do enjoy being a bearer of bad news! Anyway, chill with the FUD. All products have issues, Apple products are no different. If this was a widespread problem I'm sure we'd be hearing a lot more about it. Let's all just hope for the best. :apple:

No payment or anything?!!?!

Not quite. I figured paying for it was a given. I'm just saying that I never tracked any airplanes or ordered in the dark of night. Just wandered into the Apple store to get a replacement for my dead Time Capsule. Asked for a 8/512 model retina and was immediately served by the cutest darn little blonde you ever saw. Hot man.! She was way more exciting than the retina. Heck I might go back and buy something else.
