Just called Apple, said the SuperDrive rumor was false (I don't know about that...) but the man was kind enough to upgrade me to next day shipping. I ordered on the 15th and my eta was 16-20 now its 11-17. BUT STILL PROCESSING! should be changing soon though. just wanted to share my experience with anyone interested.

looking through the spreadsheet, i've messaged these people to ask if they're willing to send apple their order numbers:
bachata-crazy
JoshRtek
andru1313
Neupro

i could not find or message mludviksen, and Korn.

these are only people shipping to the us, ordered after 611 (6/12 or later), and ordered the 2.7/16/768 model. if anyone else can help with this, remember any others who fit this criteria, anything, i sure would appreciate it.

sincerely, 3-5 week club.

sorry, did not check the thread since yesterday morning due to having too much fun for the 4th of july.

came into work this morning and my "mail-order bride" came in! woohoo! :D

however, i have too much work to do and i'm afraid if i open it, i won't be able to get any work done.

so i will have to just wait until i get home tonight to open it.

fizzwinkus, just got your private message about my order number to investigate the issue. i'll send it to you. wish you luck!

Not sure if any of you out there are photographers, but I just recently witnessed similar insanity for the Nikon D4/D800/D800E release. Delivery waitlists months in length, zero communication from Nikon, nor the big photography retailers (Adorama, B&H, and Amazon).

Granted, the rMBP is a consumer product, while Nikon's latest full frame cameras are of a more limited accessibility, but the four month wait for a D4 was insane.

I enjoy photography as a hobby and I'm a Nikon guy. I definitely have to say the D800 is more drool worthy to me than the rMBP. Lol. Did you pick up the D4?

Several 6/15 ordered started moving today. I have a 2.7/16/512 model that is preparing to ship as of today. Unless you ordered a 768gb SSD, you should be shipping soon!

Our own 6/11 thread?

Same here! I call it the 06/11 Club! Are the other members still out there? I thought for sure our computers would have shipped over night but nothing!

Do you think we should have our own thread, without the moderator merging into this one? At this point, I think the 6/11 group is dealing with a whole different situation, different than the general "status" thread.

What is driving me suspicious is that most people are getting their laptops earlier than the estimates. We are already beyond that threshold. It makes me feel that we are stuck.

I know exactly what you mean. I had just enough in my budget to either go for a D800 or a rMBP, and I had to go for the rMBP seeing those ridiculous wait times. And as luck would have it, today is the 20th day of wait for my rMBP :(

Just got mine delivered about an hour ago! Wasn't expecting it until tomorrow. Good thing I was home.

Question

I just checked my bank account, and found that Apple has charged me for my rMBP, which is good news! But, I check my online order status and it still says 'Processing Items'. What gives? Anybody had this happen before? Are they just a little slow to update the order status? I am looking for this whole ordeal to be over soon and playing with my rMBP.

EDIT: Just moved to 'Preparing for Shipment'! Ordered on 6/15 at 10am CDT, 2.3/16/256. Status change at 2:15pm CDT, July 5th.

Interesting. That sucks though. Mine still hasn't updated, but I'll keep checking it closely to see if it does.

I enjoy photography as a hobby and I'm a Nikon guy. I definitely have to say the D800 is more drool worthy to me than the rMBP. Lol. Did you pick up the D4?

The D4 arrived...after 4 and a half months. As bad as that sounds, I know the wait time for the D800 is even longer (and EVEN LONGER if you want the D800E).

The D4 is quite nice, considering I am coming from a D2x.

Haven't played with a D800/E, but I hear the image quality is insanity. Should pair nicely with a Retina MacBook Pro (all those pixels!)

I hear ya. I think regardless of what camera you shoot with, Aperture tweaked for the Retina Display will be amazing. I played with the rMBP at an Apple Store nearby, but the Retina-specific Aperture version wasn't installed!!

Anyone care to comment on how it performs?

Called Apple asking about the update and why people that ordered on the 12th (same config, US based) received theirs while we were still waiting. Mentioned that the June 11th orders were quoted 3-5 weeks and June 12th 2-3 weeks. The rep admitted that there was an issue with the ordering system and a follow up email would be sent with a more accurate date of delivery (though it doesn't change the fact that we weren't thrown into the queue when we actually made our orders). Asked how Apple would make up for this 'mistake' and she stepped away for a few minutes to talk to her manager. Came back with nothing :(

Woohoo!
2.6/512 UK edu. Ordered on 17th June went to preparing to ship and has now been shipped today!

Eta is revised from 17th July - 23rd July to 13th at the latest. Eeeeeeeee!

I've been biting my tongue from saying the same thing. And with everybody calling Apple to ask why people that "ordered after them got their item before them" is futile. Of course they're going to say it isn't the case. The reps on the phone CAN'T go and look at other people's orders and can't give that PRIVATE info over the phone. I ordered a base 2.3 on 06/19 and my earliest expected delivery is 07/20. I would live to get it earlier but what am I going to do? Call for a super drive? Ask them why the Apple Store near me had a couple of base models already and that's outrageous that people can walk in and pick it up while I have to wait? I knew the wait time when I made the order. It's not that everybody is getting screwed on their delivery times, it's this thread that's creating a flashy mob of people that think they've been inconvenienced. If you don't like it than cancel your order, go on whatever trips you need to go on and order it when it's in stock. Get on with your life because it's just a computer.

I'm not trolling. I'm coming to this thread to get a general sense of which orders on which dates are starting to go out. It gives me a bit of hope when I see some people getting theirs up to 9 days earlier than the earliest expected delivery date from Apple. I'm getting tired of all these people acting like some sort of crime has been committed because Paul got his Macbook before Peter.....

Everyone whos spending all their hard earned cash on one of these is entitled to their own opinion (unless you are going to buy us all one ;)).

The point is you buy a premium product, you expect a certain level of service. Its all about the experience and this one didn't tick any boxes for me, worst product release I can remember.

You only have to look at how many people have actually got their laptops. 5 days worth of orders have been fulfilled (actually not even that! thats optimistic) after 3.5 weeks. At this rate it WILL take a very long time for you to get your order.

I would not be surprised if they miss their estimated delivery times for some people.

So, what did they mean about an email with a "more accurate date of delivery." Does that mean they are going to push us out even further?

Not technically true....

So when I called to ask a question about my order they wanted me to provide my name and billing address before they would give me info about my own order. So, I'm not quite sure how they technically can tell you over the phone "I'm looking at Paul's order and you're right about his shipping date". Imagine the lawsuits waiting to happen if customers were able to call in and find out when OTHER PEOPLE'S orders were made and shipped. Honestly, I'm completely dumbfounded that people think Apple should do whatever the customer wants. I know if I found out Apple was just giving out any bit of info about me there would be hell to pay.

The expectations of customers these days is getting more and more ridiculous. What's next? You want Tim Cook's home phone number so you can have a one on one with him about this? Cuz Apple owes that to everybody even though they've been shipping within or earlier than their original quoted delivery times, right??

Anyone else have one sitting idle in Anchorage right now ? My 2.6/16/512 shipped from China on the 3rd and appears to have cleared customs on July 4, but nothing since then. As of now, it still says it will be delivered tomorrow (Scottsdale, AZ). I guess I will call FedEx tonight for an update if the tracking doesn't show any progress.

This was a CTO order placed on the 14th btw.
