Just gave Apple a call and asked why it takes so long...
There's nothing they can do about the shipping time, because the system manages the orders bla bla... :mad:

grmpf... perhaps tomorrow :(

Same spec, same day. Mine's just changed to 'Preparing for Shipment' half an hour ago.

Order on 7/25. Shipped last night at 3AM. With any luck it'll get here before the weekend!! FedEx estimate is by 10:30AM Monday.

Yeah, I did. I also called apple yesterday and asked about the discrepancy in pricing between the different BTO models with the same specs, and they credited me $60

Does this mean that its currently on the plane?! I know there is a flight to Memphis today, but I couldn't quite decode if it had made it

Looks like our laptops are on the same plane :)

[EDIT] and shipping estimates have improved to 5-7 days.

when my tracking info showed in transit (from china), it was on the plane

then i got "arrived at fedex location" (anchorage)

then i got "international shipment release - import" (anchorage)

now it shows/has shown "in transit" (from anchorage) since yesterday at 3:52

Damn you expedited shipping, I DIDN"T pay for it, and now my package sits for a day

its supposed to be in florida tomorrow, hope its here...the suspension is killing me, i dont think ive slept a full night in days, lol

I DID pay for expedited shipping and my tracking info shows exactly the same thing. It got from Shanghai to Anchorage quickly via FDX28, then I figured it'd be on the 2nd hop of FDX28 to Memphis ~3 hours later but nothing, it's still just sitting in Anchorage. FedEx can't even tell me why, they have no idea. Needless to say, Apple refunded my "expedited shipping charge" without question and provided great customer service as usual.
 
Ugh, not happy to find out that I could have gotten a bump from 2.3 to 2.6 for a measly $100. I totally would have opted for that config with the 256gb.

Ha! My tracking has the exact same times and locations! Our MacBooks are definitely on the same route so far.
 
2.3/8/256 ordered on 19th July change status a few hours ago to "Preparing Shipment" . Expected delivery : 3/08 - 10/08
 
Ordered 2.3/16/256 on July 22 (almost at midnight) and still processing.. I'm sweden though so maybe it takes a bit longer if you choose the swedish layout on keyboard like i did, dont know.
 
I chose the portuguese keyboard, that is why (I think) there were a few of them shipped before mine and with order date after mine.

I looked over a couple of previous invoices from recent orders which took ~24hrs to get from Shanghai to my door in the US and they show a line item for "EXPEDITED SHIPPING CHARGE" next to the MacBook. On my current order, the "EXPEDITED SHIPPING CHARGE" got placed with the MagSafe adapter and AppleCare that I ordered rather than the computer. I see no way I could have controlled this via my online cart as the shipping option is a single selection for all items.

So bottom line is:

1.) Apple didn't ship my MB expedited and because of that the morons at FedEx let it sit in Anchorage an extra day for no good reason.
2.) Apple expedited the wrong items.

Needless to say Apple was very helpful (refunded the fee and sent along a few free goodies) and FedEx basically told me to piss off.
