Macbook Pro 2012 Order Status thread (all models)

So it turns out my baby wasn't on the flight straight to Memphis - it stopped by Anchorage for 20 minutes or so to clear customs! It is supposed to get into Memphis at 11:30pm local time, little after the direct flight (9:30pm CDT), but mine has gone through customs.

Mine was on the same flight. Fedex has had it listed as "In Transit" from Anchorage since 6:15PM yesterday. I'm hoping the next time it updates it is somewhere a lot closer than that. I was hoping to get it Saturday morning

I would think you would get it today. Once it gets to Memphis, things move pretty fast. The Anchorage flight got to Memphis in plenty of time to be sorted and loaded onto the plane for the hop to your city. Possible delays are:

Weather [not a problem today]
Customs clearance delay [possible, it does happen]
Not enough room on the plane [unlikely]

Called the automated line.

Says two things:

"Your Package will be delivered by 10:30 AM Monday morning"

"On the way to the station that delivers to [my zipcode]."

I asked for a customer service rep, and she said that it was still in Anchorage and that there was no chance it would show up until Monday.

I'm bummed!

Well after my date being 30th Jul - 6th Aug it shipped today and promptly changed to a 13th Aug delivery date!!!!!! :mad::mad:

Opened a complaint with Apple, they emailed to say they will discuss a good will gesture when it arrives.:mad::mad:

I agree with this, and sometimes the package moves faster than they can track it. I think there is a chance that it got to memphis, got thrown on the Cleveland flight, and because there is such a short turn around, it didn't get scanned. Otherwise, it would either
  • Have gotten on a plane in ANC the exact same time a different airplane departed, and is still sitting there
  • Still be siting on the plane that it flew in from Anchorage on
  • Still be sitting, waiting on a flight to Cleveland. Which seems unlikely given that the flight to Cleveland departed a couple hours after the ANC flight arrived

But mine at least was released by customs already!

The easiest way to figure it out is by matching the time on your tracker to the times that flights departed on Flight Aware's live tracker tool:

Released by customs where?
I would agree on the point of things moving so fast it didn't get scanned. But I would think by 8:45 CT the tracking data would be current. Very bummed.

The automated system told me the same as what's on the tracking page. Did the cust svc rep sound like she had more current information?
 
how long does it stay in the status "preparing for shipment"
just curious how this stage was for other people
 
Ordered mine via MacMall on the 26th. It should be delivered on the 7th. YEA!!! Ordered one for the wife (if Mama ain't happy...) via Apple (to get One to One for her) this morning (tax free weekend). Hers should be delivered 14-16.

I took "International shipment release - Import" as clearing customs.

The customer service rep told me that it was in Alaska, which to me sounds like she knew less, and was looking at the same tracking info that is presented to us. I think knowing when the flight got in and such, we know more. There have been subsequent flights from PANC to KMEM, which to me suggests that have gotten to MEM...

And the next question will be, how long does shipping take?
When Apple says "shipped" it only means it was handed off to FedEx, not that it is actually physically moving. After shipping, mine sat in Shanghai for 2-1/2 days before I got the "in-transit" notification. And yesterday afternoon it was updated in Anchorage as being in-transit again, but as I just found out, it's still in Anchorage. So I guess that even in-transit doesn't necessarily mean physically moving either.

Lesson learned. I'll pay $15 for expedited shipping next time.

I paid for expedited shipping and it looks like my laptop is also sitting in Anchorage. 2-3 days my ass.

Mine will probebly come with the same flight as yours, got the same ETA and im aswell from Sweden.
Its does say in the email: We expect that the order is delivered to your shipping address by 16/08/2012.
So they expect it to come before or on the 16/08/2012.

  • I'm really hoping this is the case. Mine has been listed as "IN TRANSIT" from AK since 2:15 yesterday (Alaska time). I expected it to be at least in Memphis by last night, but I've gotten no update. :mad:

$100 GC is somewhere on the way.

Yes I got that at first, it's perfectly normal. Give it time and it will update with more details.
 
got it home and opened her up, looks great

loaded with lion, good luck to everyone else

seems like its a matter of days not weeks for everyone still waiting
