Could this be right???

Okay, so I ordered the higher end 13" macbook pro off the Apple site last night. Just a few minutes ago, I go to the UPS website to see if it's been picked up, shipped, whatever and this is what it says:

According to that, my macbook is supposed to come TOMORROW by the end of the day??? I thought they were coming in from China? I double checked to see that it wasn't the gift card that was supposed to come tomorrow..but under "additional information" it says that the package is 9lbs and I'm pretty sure that the gift card doesn't weigh 9lbs right? Am I crazy or am I really getting my macbook 2 days after I order it online?... Does anyone have anything similar going on...? I didn't think it would be coming that fast! I was expecting a few weeks!

Hi everyone,

Im sorry if this has been explained somewhere, but I too excited to sit still and look around for it.

When ordering online from apple's website through the student store, if I remember correctly, after the order has been placed, you have to email a copy of your student card to confirm the order or so?

How does this work? In terms of names and apple ID logins and all that. Like would there be any problems technically in getting for instance your girlfriend or friend who is a student, to use their student card / order it, but have delivery address and apple ID linked to someone else?

I am just curious how strict apple is when all comes to all ?

We all know we would save $250-$300 if we can :)

cheers

Yours appears to be shipping from California to California, so it shouldn't take real long.

They are not strict about it in the slightest. There is no confirmation. You are essentially on the honor system.

what? so you are saying if you put in your student details in the store and order..... that's it? no confirmation no "checking" ?

I just tried to pretend to order a macbook pro 15 (non-retine) in the Australia online store. It says 1-3 business days. I guess its only the retina versions that are in suuper high demand?

I didn't know some were shipping from CA. I thought all of them were coming in from China. It really surprised me too since it also tells me on the apple site that the delivery date is next week. I'll be really excited if I really do get it tomorrow :)

If what you ordered is one of the configurations that apple sells in stores, then it is likely to be stocked domestically. Hence, CA-to-CA shipping.

I don't know much about the MBP13 configs, but for the Retina 15, the retails stores carry three (minimum, middle, top) configs. My guess is you happened to pick a MBP13 that they already stock.

When did you purchase yours? I purchased mine this morning and still shows 3-4 weeks. :-(
Read his past posts. He ordered the NON-retina.

It's enough to make you think that Retina orders should have been given a separate thread...

sometimes you wonder why they even have a normal store.... geeze, but thanks for the info guys! :)

I shall order my new macbook pro15 non-retina tonight :D

If you are ordering for business and you are VAT registered (uk people i'm talking about) you can claim the tax back. Its actually more than the education discount on the 2.6 model.

That makes sense, you can in Australia too actually. Hmm will have to look into this.

Over here you need to make sure you enter your vat registration number on your payment info when you checkout as you need a specific vat receipt.

Still "in transit to customer - shipment on schedule"! Since 6 days my status hasn't changed.... Anyone else with the same problem?

Wow. Has it passed the date they said it would be delivered on? I hope this won't happen to me. :(

Mine is estimated to arrive in Perth, Australia between 12-16 July...

I was in the 3-4 weeks group.

----------

Same boat here, July2nd - 9th, my plan is to call Apple and see if it is still possible to upgrade shipping to overnight, or 2-3 days instead of the standard. Maybe it will arrive next week instead of in two weeks. I'm still hoping the shipping times will magically shorten. Every time I open my email in the morning I hope to see "Your order has shipped!"

Hoping to receive mine soon after your batch. i'm in 3-4 weeks

Ordered-Retina MBP 2.6 i7, 512 SSD, 16GB Ram on day of release, as soon as I noticed the UK Apple Store was back online.

Original delivery date was 25th June, shipped on 15th June, but didn't get any tracking info until last night. Now out for delivery with UPS today! :)

The 3-4 Weeks Shipping Club!

I thought it would be good for the sanity of everyone who has bought a Retina MacBook Pro in recent days and been given a stonking 3-4 week shipping timeframe to have a place for support. :p

Specifically, this is a thread to discuss early preparation for shipment or shipping on orders places to give the rest of us hope!

I'm still on "processing items". :(

So let's talk waiting!
