No, after all, it looks like the photo is his. The EXIF data in the photo shows the address to be 1455 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT which you can do a free Internet search and find a 31 year old with the same name at that address. So there is a retina MBP there, but the date ordered is either wrong, or it belongs to someone else. Because there's no way you order on the 18th and receive already. That part obviously seems concocted.

Apt 417 :-D

Well, au contraire, jon.blake. People do care, just perhaps not for the reason you might think. I'm pretty sure the "attention" is really just to underscore the point that it's 2012 and you cannot lie on the Internet and get away with it.

When people troll they don't do it for a hero's welcome and an apple pie. They do it to get a rise out of those easily excited and feed off the negative attention they so desperately seek.

It's an obvious lie, that was obviously obvious since the first second he posted it. It's just about time to let it go.

um... this is an Internet forum where we're tracking our new laptops second-by-second on a Google spreadsheet.

What was that about easily excited?

Well, it's been a few days since the last "preparing for shipment". People used to post about that all day long..! Feels like they didn't ship much this week.. it's weird!

I'm kinda looking forward to another week of waiting and the bonkers things that might be going on. Google spreadsheets, detective work, people breaking down, pain, misery, mild excitement... someone should write a book, or cast a movie!

- on a lesser note my mac just tried to replace the word excitement for excrement... :D:eek:

Are you asking me what's the difference between getting excited about a $3000 top of the line laptop vs. getting excited about a strange guy trolling on the internet?

That's uh, a little bit of a misfire.

Maybe they producing for the stores? Or they are building up a stock?

As far as I know nothing will happen from 22 - 24 June, because in this time are holidays (Dragon Boat Festival) {http://www.travelchinaguide.com/essential/public-holiday.htm}

The Apple reseller in my city has rMBPs in stock, which makes me more confused as to why I still have 2-3 weeks to wait for mine that I ordered June 12th? Damnit Apple!

If the reseller offered amazing student discount like Apple, I would cancel my order and buy from them.

Well, Jon - I think if you asked the general public, you might find that if you're crowdsourcing shipping info for a laptop that'll "get there when it gets there" and all the excitement in Google spreadsheet form won't ever change that, they'd probably say you're misfiring too. I'll admit I'm weird for it. Won't you?

Actually, I wouldn't be misfiring because I am part of that group, that's why I am in this thread.

Your comparison on waiting for a $3000 laptop and an internet lie was a rather lackluster example.

Personally, I don't get the same thrill over spending 2 days calling out a lie on the net vs. waiting for a new rmbp.

But maybe I am a little odd.

If it really is a holiday weekend in China with workers getting the 22-24 off, we wont see any movement till monday or tuesday... I think thats why apple did the 5-7, 7-10 and then skipped to 2-3 weeks...

On the spreadsheet do we have any organization for the entries? Just curious if there is a rhyme or reason for the current order because I couldn't find anything. If there isn't an order, someone should list them by ordered time and date or shipping date.

Ha ha, a little creepy. My attention was not to troll, just share some crazy good luck. It's not like I started a new account just to post that.

And my cat was staring at a bug or something. She is a bit of a spaz :)

No one believes your story....Did you miss everything after your post?

ok guys I am slowly but surely going to order all of the entries by estimated delivery time (I'm at work so I have to do this stealthy. feel free to assist me and I apologize for the blank cells feel free to delete those too as I do this.

Ordered from Apple the afternoon of June 11 (MacBook pro retina display with all the upgrades, 2.7/16gb ram/768 ssd, and I have 3-5 weeks for shipment. Not until July 10-23. Think I'll get it sooner?

I guess they only get the 23th of..? Found this:

Dragon Boat Festival

the 5th day of the
5th lunar month

1 day

Jun. 23.
(Jun. 22 - 24. off)

I've been trying to figure that one out myself. I can't imagine a large corporation with mostly western customers like foxconn being able to shut down for 3 days.

I do know that the fedex-Anchorage flight is flying today (according to flightaware) just as it does every day so the entire country isnt 100% shut down.

Isn't that a really late window for an 11th order?
