What a troll. The photo has a piece of paper on the right that is clearly addressed as:

United States Patent and Trademark Office

Weaver Austin Villeneuve & Sampson LLP
PO BOX 70250
OAKLAND, CA 94612-0250

... which means you've stolen a photo of a rMBP from a copyright attorney, of all people. Nice job!

Furthermore, isn't he in Connecticut?

Well, if he is indeed telling the truth, that means Apple bypassed hundreds maybe thousands of customers before him and got him his BTO rMBP in just three days. He either has connections, or is just one lucky mofo :)

Furthermore, isn't he in Connecticut?

Plus if the shipment invoice came on the 20th June 12am and that photo was supposedly taken at 8am today (Friday 22nd) that would suggest it probably came yesterday the 21st which is an astonishing feat considering the miles that would have to travel. I'd be very impressed to get next day from China.

Which suggests that either the photo is robbed off the web, or the mac was bought from a local store, or someone is telling white lies.

No, after all, it looks like the photo is his. The EXIF data in the photo shows the address to be 1455 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT which you can do a free Internet search and find a 31 year old with the same name at that address. So there is a retina MBP there, but the date ordered is either wrong, or it belongs to someone else. Because there's no way you order on the 18th and receive already. That part obviously seems concocted.

My money is on him placing an online order, was placed in the 3-4 weeks group, but was able to acquire a rMBP at a brick-and-mortar and thus subsequently canceled his online order and decided to play a dirty little trick on us.

ok guys I changed the levels on that screen cap so you can see where he edited the email:

It's fake. Case closed.

Sounds very plausible. Me personally, I don't know that I would go out of my way to do that and then publish my address in EXIF data for the world to see in a photo I took at my apartment. But whatever, it's just another case of "na na na na, I got something you don't" Internet trolling.

Can't wait to get mine, but not gonna lie to you about it. That defeats the purpose of our collective tracking.

Well we now know where he lives... and there is a macbook pro retina there... bet that person is feeling a little twitchy posting a photo like that now ;)

Got Mine

I wanted the MacBook Pro 15 inch retina display. Called the Apple Store every morning to see if they had gotten any in. They get them in a few at a time. I was at the right place at the right time, and got mine yesterday.

Not hard to change EXIF data...

The only way to find out if he really has it ..pay a friendly visit! ;)

Not hard to change EXIF data...

Yeah, but he doctored the tracking info from FedEx poorly, and he provided his well-established address to within 10 meters in the EXIF data, which is just... dumb...

So I don't think he changed the EXIF data. I just think he's a troll and a bad liar.

it's been two days with no real movement from apple! come on..:mad:

Maybe they decided to ship all the 7-10 days except for arbitrage and then send inventory to stores for the rest of this week. Then starting monday handle the 2-3 week shipments.

Oh wow, can we stop giving this idiot attention?

Someone is lying/trolling in a desperate ploy to seek attention and approval from other people in an online forum. No one cares, move on.

Looks like he has a new Retina laptop. Good on him. Not sure about the means he got it, though. But I admit. I totally enjoyed that little bit of sleuthing to "out" this guy.

Well, au contraire, jon.blake. People do care, just perhaps not for the reason you might think. I'm pretty sure the "attention" is really just to underscore the point that it's 2012 and you cannot lie on the Internet and get away with it.
