I personally would like a MBP without an optical drive. I don't really use the drive when I'm out and about anyways. Of course I don't want to pay for the drive either it should be included with the laptop.

why???
tell me why!

it is now included and you can have it all the time and you dont even notice it :D

No, it is not.
Are you one of those people who would not buy a Mac anymore if they move to 16:9 ratio?

It is mostly about cost and availability. Apple won't be able to use 16:10 if they can't get them made at reasonable cost. Same issue with 8 bit colour depth.

And no it is not a deal breaker. I would buy a 16:9 if it also had support for 8GB RAM, for example.

I WOULD BUY ANYTHING APPLE RELEASE IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS...I sold my black macbook to go PRO....

Using a G4 Ti-Book 800 hacked with Leopard.....and while its suprisingly nimble....I need POWER

yeah your right, but it might make the laptop thinner. I like the thinness of the air, but not the outrageous price

Yay, finally caught up. There were only 5 pages when I started reading, but every time I went onto the next page you lot churned out another!

Strange that the headphone and audio-in jacks have a silvery ring... usually that would indicate plastic. Otherwise, why bother lining metal with more metal?

It looks kind of similar to the old G3 iBook to me, with that slightly off-white colour if I remember correctly...

Who knows though. I do hope it's a new aluminium MBP.

People are saying there's a seam, but if so then why does the seam end about quarter of the way down? ;)

I really hope that's a Firewire 800 port to the left of the USB. I wouldn't be too surprised if Apple finally does away with Firewire (as they did with the iPod) but I would certainly be disappointed.

I guess the machine kind of slides in underneath... if it's held by that 'lip' that's visible through the ports though (how else would it be held?) then it's kind of odd, it makes you worry that if you pick it up by the sides then the machine might fall out the bottom! I'm sure it'll all make sense once it's put together though.

If this ties in with the fairly solid rumour of the battery running along the back and that removing it reveals easy access to the HDD, I'll be a happy bunny. As long as they don't nerf the technical spec (such as the graphics) to cram it into a thin case.

You need a shift key that isn't stuck. ;)

I need Steve to give us a break and release SOMETHING OTHER THAN IPODS already.....and while I LOVE my Iphone.......its still an Ipod that makes calls...I know it's Apple Inc.

But I liked it better when it was Apple Computer Inc.

I'll EVEN TAKE A G5 Macbook Pro!!!!!(just kidding and sorry) someone had to say it

They did away with the iPod? ;)

I would be extremely surprised if they got rid of Firewire. They may standardise on 800, which makes sense, but there are way too many audio interfaces out there, for example, for that to make sense.

If I'm correct Apple stopped allowing iPods to sync through firewire (presumably because when iTunes for windows was released, most windows machines didn't have firewire ports)

The new Nanos don't charge through Firewire anymore either

I read that the FW800 port would/could be backwards compatable with FW400
