They did away with the iPod? ;)

You know what I mean. Comedian :p

Still, we can but hope! Anything to get them to concentrate on Macs again!

I'm sure you're probably right, and you can get FW800-400 cables so there's no sense in wasting space. You just never know when Apple are going to pull a "WTF moment".

lol@"WTF moment"

This is great news! I was so close to giving up and buying an iMac. iMacs are great and all, but I've always had a certain attraction to notebooks. I hope the new MacBooks are coming real soon!!!!

Side note: Sharp edges...hasn't this been a problem with the current MacBooks? Oh well, no more cracking!!!! I'll buy it anyways!!!:D

This picture looks to indicate a lot of things

Mainly the brick rumor and the 16:9 rumor

If this is the case for the screens, then apple may have a 1080p screen. Due the dell's 16" laptop.

http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/06/dell-showing-off-16-inch-xps-concept-laptop/

While I hope for blu-ray I highly doubt it, This laptop is even more thin the current gen MBPs and there are 10.5.5 just came out.

I think is the best response I've seen yet. You basically summed it all up. Single piece of metal would have so many advantages. I think it will be a stretch for them to go BR.

The image was inserted in Solidworks and I've created a Plane aligned with the foto perceptive.
This is a approximated measure in millimeters

Any one won't more measures?

would be great if the new macbook pro looks like this one :

(just forget the stupid screen-glass trackpad and the black bezel)

Yeah that looks alright.... I'm hoping for that sleek black one that was going around a couple weeks ago

Looks convincing...the 14th can't come by fast enough! :D *Wonders what will happen if the day of reckoning does not yield new MacBooks* Meh. I'll continue to slavishly wait. Or buy a current one.... Incidentally, which of the current lineup (MB/MBP/MBA) do you guys think I would lose the least money on if I bought now and sold in about a year's time when I actually *need* a MBP for my course? I'd really like a Mac laptop now (my first laptop ) but don't need a lot of ability in the graphics department yet...

My friends, I believe what we need here is to hope for the best case we can hope for. That's what this company's all about.

Now while those ones have been saying that the mini-DVI port is a horrible idea, what they're not saying is how much thinner the laptop will be getting because of this.

Now I pledge to you, my friends, that we will be getting a greater product, my friends, if we all consider the benefits of what this case brings, my friends.

Friends, we will have the best designed laptop in the world. And even though there are other products out there that might have a feature or two over us, my friends, we can take solace in the fact that ours will run longer, my friends, and faster, my friends.

My friends, we, my friends, will, my friends, see what's coming up, my friends, my friends, soon, my friends.

My friends.

PS. My Friends.

:D:D:D;)

YOU my friend, have been watching way too many John McCain speaches! ;)

I think this is the regular macbook. This cant be the current MBP because that doesn't have the chicklet keyboard. I'm thinking this is it everyone! You guys think the Macbook will be in stock at the local Apple Retail stores on the 14th?

Apple computers (for me anyways) are really hard to sell. I had an imac that I was trying to sell for 1000 dollars. I posted it on my colleges selling board and got nothing for like two weeks. I decided to try to snipe customers from the apple store. I told them I had the same thing for half the price and just a little under 2 and a half years apple care.... no one bit.

Base model Macbook would lose the least money

I think this would be the MacBook case, not the pro. The MacBook is long, long overdue for a redesign.

And yes... that is a mini-DVI next to the audio input and headphone jack.

What i don't see is a Firewire port. The two ports to the left are probably ethernet and power.

that would be a shame if they dropped firewire on the MacBooks

I think this is more likely to be a MacBook than a Pro. It would be annoying if they have dropped firewire though. Or if the have changed the magsafe adaptor.
You can see from the icons that its a video port, two USB and ethernet. The next one could be one of those new firewire variants, which hopefully scale down like 800 to 400 with the correct cable/adaptor. I think there is room off the pic to the left for a standard magsafe socket. It has to be a MacBook since there is no expresscard slot.

However I would say that the MBP is the one overdue for a redesign since the MacBook case was a much bigger departure from the iBook than the MBP was from the PowerBook G4....

I for one don't like the chicklet key board. I love my MBP keyboard, fav since ibook G4 (better than Powerbook G4 imo)

WOOOWWW!! That was sooooooooooooo funny :D

Sarcasm?

I spy a chicklet keyboard.

Me too. Wish the current MBP had them :/

What's the point have having all that thinness goodness if you have to carry around a bunch of adapters. I've also read rumors of a lone FW800 port, not FW 400. I want thin and light too but not at the expense of needed adapters that I'll probably lose or forget.

I understand where you're coming from, and would usually totally agree with you. However doing away with FW400 might be somewhat of a good thing. FireWire 3200 (aka FireWire 3, the next FW) uses the same port as FW800, and it's also backwards compatible. My guess is Apple is trying to push developers to use FW800 ports on their devices/products seeing as how FW3200 will use the same port. An adapter for FW400, while slightly annoying, might not be so bad in the long run in place of having only FW800 ports on future Macs.

Just speculation though. ;)

I think apple may have made another new DVI connector..... MacroDVI
