The old Apple would have added a software-based notch to the Mac mini, for consistency, but I don't these days.

If you are looking at a bigger screen on a laptop it will be noticeable. For sure! 100%
I'll take a notch over legacy ports (read SD and HDMI) anytime 
i dont believe they would add the notch without a clear benefit such as FaceId. looking at the pixelated picture it looks like the IR sensors for FaceID are present, so it should be included.
You can have both thin bezels and no notch, lol

I honestly think this is Apple spreading sketchy and false rumors around over the weekend. To get people excited.. to get people talk about… to get people hyped up. It is all Apple that is behind it. It’s pure marketing without paying a single dime for advertisement.
Also, if the „notch horror“ leads some people to pass on the new MacBook Pro, leading to better supply and shorter waiting lists, I‘m even more for it! ?

It's been a long time since I have used android. Do they have different gestures swiping down from the left or right of the screen? The notch is useful on iOS. Is it also useful on android?
It all sounds made up. If there was Face ID, maybe I'd believe it but I am not going to believe a notch is being added without even adding Face ID.
What he said about the 74px for the notch makes everything sound more realistic.

If they come up with a way to utilize those 74 pixels I'm for it, but it's hard to see how they'd use it meaningfully. Otherwise, it's just an extra 74 pixels of display to consume battery.

Did anyone catch on Reddit if it was mentioned when it is being released? Or when the pre-order will go live?
The unveiling will be pre-recorded so unfortunately we won’t get to hear the boos, hisses, moans and laughing from the audience when a notch is revealed
I wouldn't mind the notch so much if Apple would more efficiently use the space to either side.
