Well, sorry, you are a bit of an extreme case. This is almost an abuse of status icons :D

But jokes aside, in rhis case I would simply black out the top part, and put your menu under the notch. You would effectively get a slightly thicker top bezel, like current Macs do. This would also be quite unobtrusive.

For majority of users who don’t have crazy status menus like you, moving the menu into the top bezel wozld actually make a lot of sence.
Sure, sure. If anything apple is doing well is handling edge cases: they just screw them and pretend edge cases doesn’t exist, instead trying to force and convince you to move away from your use case.

No offence on your idea, but that’s what I know apple is doing based on my personal experience and a bit of browsing forums.

A notch on a MacBook is horrible. It’s bad enough that we still have it on the iPhone.
Open your MacBook and see what’s on the top middle of the screen. There is nothing but an empty bar at that location.

If this rumor is true, you will lose that empty space to a notch, but in return you will gain vertical space by moving the menus and other icons to sides of that notch, and most importantly, you will have a screen with almost no bezels.

By the way, I’m okay with the notch on my iPhones.

I can already see the reveal video following the rounded corners with almost no bezel and then wallpaper hiding it’s existence. Shockingly the design is growing on me and could be justified if the bezels are narrow enough like the leaked picture. The reception would likely be similar to the iPhone X where the masses embraced the notch and preorders are going to be crazy.

Everybody calm down!

This is just a rumor, and the information is incomplete or false. So if the parts are real, maybe are hidden behind the display, and the screen Is just normal rectangle...

Exactly, people need to understand it's either an entire black bar across the top of the screen or an extra 74 pixels of vertical screen space either side of the notch. The notch won't be eating into your 14 or 16 inch 16:10 display area.

Totally out of sorts for Apple to put a notch on the MacBook Pro because it messes with the top menu bar for menu items.
It will be behind the bezel

Windows laptops have had notches for a while, dells XPS nose came models not more than 4yrs ago had this. Else if not a recognizable notch on other business notebooks large bezels hide this.

No I don’t think a real MBP notch will surface just the camera system is a lot better and the isn’t a large tray for a mount. There will be a top bezel witch will hide it.

Yeah, it’s way better that the notch is the whole width of the display, rather than only a small part of the menubar. 🙄
Yes.

Smartphones and cameras aren’t allowed in design areas and factories.

When someone sneaks in a smartphone, they won’t try to sneak in an iPhone 13 Pro Max with a battery pack and studio lighting equipment to take the best photo.
Even then, you’d think the quality gets better as tech gets better but nope - they’ve been like this for a decade.

Nope, at this point (unless Apple is doing an unnecessary red herring 3 days out) all the pieces fit together, the leaked resolutions, and now this out of the supply chain. All the evidence is pointing to a notch.

If a notch is a make it or break it for you. Then you don't need a new M1X macbook and will do just fine with an M1 lol. The notch won't matter at all and you won't notice it after a day of use. Calm down people.
