Not getting it due to the GPU. The Radeon Pro 460 reaches a peak performance is around 1.8TFLOP/s. Apparently this is the same level of performance Nintendo is putting into the Switch, a tablet device essentially. Absolutely pathetic. Meanwhile, 1080'ies are coming into laptops with 8TFLOP/s.

I wasn't asking for 8TFLOP/s in my Mac, but to me anything below 4 is a joke for the work I do and the games I want to play. Though the laptop has many great qualities I'm sure people will appreciate, it is not for me. Apple still does not have a product for me, and so, despite my love for MacOS, it's time to look elsewhere. I have no choice. The hardware is simply not good enough in graphics technology.

I hear Razer's got some nice laptops.

Definitely getting myself a "The New Razer Blade"

The GTX 1060 and nice display (QHD+ model) sold me.

$2300

I'm waiting to see what reviewers have to say that are not invited by Apple. These seem a bit like Amazon Top100 Reviewers.
Apple displays have gotten good reviews of late. I think we'll see the same reaction to the MacBook Pro.

The keyboard and the price will be what the "professional" reviewers like Joanna Stern, Walt Mossberg, Nilay Patel and others will complain about.

Microsoft win. Surface studio goes 1 light year ahead... Wait. Apple don't even have iMac to sell?
My Apple die hard wife converted in the two minutes it took to watch the Surface Studio video. That was after an hour of her watching the MacBook Pro event, to which her response was a resounding "Meh".

Looks way Ugly like designed by interns.

Apple lost its Design innovation! Looks like Jony is too much tired of doing monotonous job in designing iphone and Macs. I get it anyone will get bored of doing this. Microsoft has amazed everyone with new products. Time to wake up Apple!!!!!

Clearly... a Microsoft... paid... troll.

thinner doesn't mean lighter

Apple doesn't like "wasted space" in their case designs. It would feel flimsier if it were the same physical size as the old model with a lower weight. Anyway, the trend in notebooks is thinner for more portability. It makes a difference and enables smaller and lighter notebook carrying cases.

Is the new butterfly keyboard that bad?

oh ok, then let's follow the "trends" !

I think this is a nice enough evolution of the MBP, and probably as good as can be achieved currently with Intel having totally dropped the ball with the development of more modern processors.

And I'll reserve my judgement on the Touch Bar until I've used it. But if it is going to be such a fabulous innovation in how we interact with Macs, and becomes an integral part of software interfaces, how is it going to work on an iMac or Mac Pro - or an external keyboard? Will there be a matching $500 keyboard with Touch Bar?

I think Microsoft has a good product in the Surface Studio, and Serenity Caldwell at iMore says it offers a compelling reason for Apple to consider an Apple Pencil-enabled iMac. Apple won't ever go all-touch on the Mac, but a special iMac is possible.

Anyway, the Surface Studio and MacBook Pro don't target the same audience. One is a large desktop. The other is a notebook.

APPLE HAS LOST ITS MIND

These prices are ridiculous. The Tech is last year.

Let's compare:

Entry Level Mac Book Pro vs New HP Envy 13t (Click Here) WITH added EXTRAS

=============
Basic $1499 Macbook Pro

Core i5 - Sky Lake
8GB RAM
Ram Speed - 1866 Mhz (Apple one real better, so minor) [but with HP you can change it.]
2500 x 1600
No Touchscreen
3.02 lbs
Iris Graphics 540
1 headphone/mic
2 USB-C/Thunderbolt

54.5 Watt-hour battery

=============

Hp Envy 13t high end extras $1389 AFTER UPGRADES

Core i7 - Kaby Lake
16 GB RAM

Ram speeed - 1600 MHz
256 SSD
3200 x 1800

Iris Graphics 620
Touchsceen
2.87 lbs
1 HDMI;
1 headphone/microphone combo;
2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge);
1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1
57.8 Watt-hour battery

AND THE HP IS only $1389. $110 cheaper (Click Here)

But Apple produces get this overpriced atrocity.

The HP Envy 13t is newer, packs more power, better resolution, better integrated graphics, more ports, and lighter and is $110 less.

Hundreds less! if you go with base model of $849, which still packs a better Kaby Lake i5 and only ($966), if you want to equal the store of the entry level MacBook Pro.

===============

HP has entered the premium market in force. Unless Apple comes out with a decent Air or Mac Mini, and soon, I am writing Apple off.

Apple started abusing her customer base with soldered RAM. Then overpriced upgrades.

But this takes the cake. $500 more than a comparable HP Envy 13t. And if the 13t is upgraded to

1) A Newer generation Kaby Lake
2) an i7 instead of an i5
3) better resolution (3200 x1800)
4) touchscreen
5) more ports
6) Better integrated graphics (620 vs 540
7) and set at an equal 256 GB NMVe storage

it still comes in $110 less than the entry MBP.

Dell with comparable stats has Kaby Lake and 2400 MHz Ram for $749

===============
Dell XPS 13"

1) i5 Kaby Lake (equal)
2) 3200 x 1800 resolution.

$1399 - $100 cheaper

HP is now the premium light laptop to beat.

Apple is abusing its customer base. Apple has enough cash that she can sail for a year or more.

Let Apple's market share crash until Apple re-learns that Apple has to be premium to claim premium.

THIS WAS A DISGRACE!

Apple is now selling gimmicks. And don't tell me that Apples are built better. HP has put together some impressive premium products. Even Dell is better than the MacBook Pro.

Leave the 3.5mm on the entire Apple line. There are plenty of companies that have created water resistant phones with a 3.5mm jack (iPhone 7 is not water proof its water resistant) so the water resistant argument is bogus and does not compromised their design.

But since Apple told the world the 3.5mm jack is totally obsolete, a piece of dinosaur garbage, should be completely abandoned, and they had the courage to remove it from the iPhone, let's see that courage now by removing it from the MBP. But they won't remove it from the MBP because they know wired headphones are prolific and will continue to have wide ranging use for many years to come. Virtually all professional audio engineers, DJs, etc. still used wired headphones because they are better, don't have to be recharged and can be easily used across a variety of equipment.

Right, and that's because when using a laptop you are stationary, much more suitable for larger, wired, headphones. When mobile its more likely to require smaller earbud type. Eliminating the 3.5 was much for space saving and thickness. Still though I don't understand your point of bringing up "courage". Are you thinking they should try and "prove something" by pulling it from the laptop too? Clearly the 3.5mm has its advantages, for now. But on such a small device like an iPhone the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Corded headphones are annoying when on the go, I'm glad they are forcing manufacturers hands in speeding up development on quality bluetooth options. Moving technology forward is what they are about, I don't see anyone complaining about the missing CD-ROM in the MBP anymore..?

Only a troll or a fake Pro user can call Thunderbolt 3, 100% GPU power increase in a smaller notebook "marginal".
This is huge.

And Thunderbolt 3 finally has the bandwidth for this: http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-core

Which, is pretty awesome. Thunderbolt 3 really gives laptops a much stronger upgrade path over time and this time the PC world is in on it so there should be a lot more hardware to take advantage of—and customizable at that.

Let the hateraid flow though. I don't understand this forum at all. Guys, if you hate Apple's products and constantly show me the laptops I can get at half the price that are supposedly equal... why are you here? I mean, seriously. Why?

what are the chances existing rMBP prices dip with the introduction of these? i was in the market for a new macbook.. but honestly, a 15" 2015 rMBP is very enticing at the right (decreased) price....

I need the maxed out version.
3D rendering and video editing.
I also need to connect it to things.

Thunderbolt 3 is the ultimate port. It is backward compatible with just about everything.

And are you really sure you need to max it out? People did 3D rendering and video editing on less power machines in the past. There will always be something more powerful in the future. Price/performance-wise the base models are usually the best.

This is absolute crap!!!!

Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).

So now consumers drink the Apple Kook-Aid go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and the arrogant Apple clowns release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.

When asked about removing the 3.5mm jack, Phil Schiller has been quoted saying “the company can't justify the continued use of an 'ancient' single-use port”, and it took “courage” to abandon the 3.5mm jack.

Greg Joswiak has been quoted saying “The audio connector is more than 100 years old. It had its last big innovation about 50 years ago. You know what that was? They made it smaller. It hasn’t been touched since then. It’s a dinosaur. It’s time to move on”

Isn’t this lovely, Apple just finished telling everyone that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible, outdated, dinosaur technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.

Thanks for the inconsistency Apple. Are you now going to say it took “courage” to leave the 3.5mm jack in the MacBook but you omitted the Lighting port because that’s now obsolete?

Congratulations on your 32 likes, you had to get your post in so it was amongst the first three to achieve that, had you been only 10 minutes too late, you'd not even be noticed amongst the whiners, but I do note the poor and clichéd quality of your whinge. You must have had your headphone jack whinge already done and pasted it in, it's obvious that wasn't going to be removed, there'll be times when home users will want to plug some serious headphones into it instead of an audio card, occasionally. To compare the usage of a iPhone with a MacBook Pro makes YOU look like an apple clown. Ooh look what I did there, I use all caps with bold, you don't see that too often.

Most people who want wireless headphone at home will no doubt use RF frequency lossless like say Senheisser's Kleer®, then you go on with the 'courage' quote, I mean you've managed to squeeze every troll cliché about the analog jack in, and this is your sole complaint? You gone on for the entire post and given sentences their own paragraphs, so you have wait for it...six paragraphs on the non removal of the headphone jack, as if each sentence is a is so complex that understanding the intricacies required six paragraphs. Comedy gold. In fact I'll wager you had two whinges already prepared, one for if it stays, and the other for if it's removed. You should post the other one too for a laugh.

Beautiful rig. Especially if you are going to edit a lot of 4K video. It's for abucheos market, how big that market for the mac is i don't know.

For what I do iMessage and iMovie is just fine. Haven't used one of those keyboard machines other than the work issued Accer my wife uses for work. And even then I just log in for her when she's busy.

A bit underwhelming release for Apple, loss of the F key row, old hardware, that massive trackpad and THAT PRICE OMFG. I may warm up to one of the lower models without the touch bar though, we'll see. Time to figure out what my next gen desktop and notebook will be.

and BTW, here is the actual quote from Schiller, not the fake one you attributed to him pulled out of a written article.

“Maintaining an ancient, single-purpose, analogue, big connector doesn’t make sense because that space is at a premium.”

Space is at a premium. The iPhone is small, carrying that port any longer is not viable.

What really ticks me off is that this makes it harder on us corporate IT people. I'm going to have a difficult time trying to justify MBP when they require an adapter to plug anything in to them.
And the price.
But hey it's skinnier. Did we mention it's skinnier?
Oh hey look whats that? It's the new skinnier macbook pro that is thinner than the previous macbook pro.
Just in, it's also thinner than the Macbook Air.
Oh yeah its thin.
