This is absolute crap!!!!

Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).

So now consumers drink the Apple Kook-Aid go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and the arrogant Apple clowns release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.

When asked about removing the 3.5mm jack, Phil Schiller has been quoted saying “the company can't justify the continued use of an 'ancient' single-use port”, and it took “courage” to abandon the 3.5mm jack.

Greg Joswiak has been quoted saying “The audio connector is more than 100 years old. It had its last big innovation about 50 years ago. You know what that was? They made it smaller. It hasn’t been touched since then. It’s a dinosaur. It’s time to move on”

Isn’t this lovely, Apple just finished telling everyone that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible, outdated, dinosaur technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.

Thanks for the inconsistency Apple. Are you now going to say it took “courage” to leave the 3.5mm jack in the MacBook but you omitted the Lighting port because that’s now obsolete?
Totally agree and to add to your rant you also can't charge your iPhone on the MacBook Pro without an adapter, which is also completely ridiculous

Why didn't they release the iPhone 7 with a USB-C port is beyond me. Now, I'm holding my iPhone 6S which came with a USB charging port, and all of the sudden I'll have to buy a new cable if I want it to plug in with my computer.

I think I'm going to stick with a 13' inch no Touch Bar model. Not because of price (it really doesn't bother me), but because I find the touch bar too distracting. I'm the "ideal costumer" for the MacBook, but I really need the second port. So, the entry level MacBook Pro is the ideal computer for me right now.
But Apple really messed up this year. You had one job: got all in USB-C. Not this half-way crap that will force me to buy one of those USB-C docks + a lightning to USB-C when I want to connect with my iPhone on the go.

Great job apple /s
So Macs charge through Thunderbolt, and iPhones charge through Lightning.
Lightning was designed to be future proof, and to Apple a big part of that is the thinness.

I agree with you, the 13" no Touch Bar model seems like the best MacBook in the lineup right now, because of it's value compared to the others. It's the trough MacBook Air successor that the MacBook should have been.

That trackpad looks MASSIVE. Seriously, why doesn't it support the Apple Pencil? It would've made a lot of sense
So you can spend another $4000 on the next generation that supports the pencil.

The MacBook Pro has no port to charge your iPhone. Additionally there is no lightning port for you to listen to headphones that are compatible with an iPhone 7.

Therefore, if you own an iPhone or iPad, I suggest getting a 13" MacBook Air instead. You'll save a lot of money. If you are need pro-level power, I suggest a desktop.

I'm afraid that Apple don't offer a laptop or desktop that is compatible with lightning headphones, so if you own an iPhone 7 or 7+, you may need to think twice before buying a Mac, and conversely, if you own or want to buy an Apple laptop or desktop, bear in mind that you will not be able to use lightning headphones, which is what the iPhone 7 and 7+ supports, so you may need to think twice before buying an iPhone 7 or 7+.

I hope that's clear.

If only Apple had included a USB port and a lightning port on their new computers, then this problem wouldn't have arisen.
You can get a USB-C to Lightning cable for $19 and charge and sync whatever iOS device you want with it.

The i7 upgrades on the 13" Pro models used to get you more than just a tiny MHz increase, like the bigger CPU cache. That is no longer the case. The i5 and i7 Skylake processors on the 13" Pro are EXACTLY the same, with 4MB cache and exact same feature flags. The only difference is the binning (rated speed, from the same assembly line). The exact model numbers are i5-6267U 2.9GHz, i5-6287U 3.1GHz and i7-6567U 3.3GHZ. Doesn't seem like it's worth the extra money.

Honestly, if you can spend 3000$ on this plus 700$ on the iPhone 7, you can surely afford 10$ regular earpods to plug into this.
There are plenty of things to rant about today's event, but this is a complete non-issue.

They're removing compatibility between their own products... It's crap

Well you can get a USB C to lightning cable, but you're right. USB C to Lightning cables and wall adapters should be rolling out in iOS devices released in 2017.

I guess my Wallet wasn't so ready.

YES i have Cornish guitar pedals and one Overdrive is about 800 dollars.
But my guitar live sounds like the Gods.

I have all my music on a external drive, what do i do if i want to connect it?

Tim Cook, i would like to kick your arse!

Microsoft win. Surface studio goes 1 light year ahead...

We're talking about professionals' hands-ons with the new MBP and you're talking about a non-portable desktop drafting machine that starts at $3K—a machine most certainly targeted exclusively at illustrators and runs Windows. That's almost twice the price of the entry MBP with Touch Bar ($1,799). Incidentally, the iMac, Apple's desktop that isn't targeted at illustrators starts at $1,099 (1/3 the cost the MS machine). Remember the original Surface? A $10K table? I don't either.

"Many of those who got a chance to touch the new MacBook Pros of course first interacted with the keyboard"
Well that is a shocker – I expected them to interact with the speakers first!

I love how people work so hard to justify the fact you can't charge an iPhone from a MBP without buying a dongle by the fact that it's $19.

This is not about what someone can afford!

This is about Apple's ongoing self serving comments to justify their inconsistent decisions that might happen to suit them at a particular time. We don't need yet another adapter. Last month we got the new Lighting to 3.5mm adapter, so now those folks who purchased Lighting headphones now need a USB-3 to Lighting adapter to use with the new MacBook. This is lunacy.

Apple lacks a consistent and well thought-out connection interface plan between their laptops, phones, tablets, and music devices. It's a mishmash of different and incompatible standards.

Does it really get that hot or are you referencing that saying youth say. Netflix and chat?

Most streaming sites are either in the process of or will switch to HEVC10 soon. Skylake supports HEVC8. So with HEVC10 content, yes, it will get extremely hot. For such a large investment, you want to be able to use the machine for 3-4 years right?

** 15 inch model with the graphics cards has HEVC10 by the way, I'm only talking about 13 inch.
