3.5mm connector located as far back as possible on the right side? So the typical asymmetric headset with the cable on the left side, will have the cable running diagonally across the keyboard. Brilliant.

On my gosh, I never thought of that ... you are right. Headphones seem to have their cords on the left speaker.

Of course the wireless fan boys who say wires are obsolete will say get wireless headphones. But it's interesting that in so many professional recording studios audio engineers seem to almost always use wired headphones.

There's nothing marvellous about it when it renders all your peripherals obsolete (you cannot even connect your own iPhone lol), with marginal upgrades, and your balance in account kaput. Sorry, but Apple is losing us Mac users one Pro at a time.

I can't defend this anymore. I'm literally shouting out loud how ridiculous this has become. $3k for a 2.7GHz i7, 512GB PCIe SSD, a mediocre Radeon Pro 455 with 2GB mem, four Thunderbolt USB-C ports requiring dongles, and an LED IPS 2880x1800 220 px display for the 15" model all just to make it thinner?! $3299 USD before tax and AppleCare. This is mind blowing.

A decade ago you could buy a Mac Pro for much less and it was current tech, upgradable, powerful, quality made, and came with a great OS. Now, I can't excuse Apple's horrible decisions.

It's almost like it's deliberate.

I suspect that by not having the Lightning port on the new MBP, perhaps they want to discourage people from syncing the two up and instead use the cloud services.

Why didn't they release the iPhone 7 with a USB-C port is beyond me. Now, I'm holding my iPhone 6S which came with a USB charging port, and all of the sudden I'll have to buy a new cable if I want it to plug in with my computer.

I think I'm going to stick with a 13' inch no Touch Bar model. Not because of price (it really doesn't bother me), but because I find the touch bar too distracting. I'm the "ideal costumer" for the MacBook, but I really need the second port. So, the entry level MacBook Pro is the ideal computer for me right now.
But Apple really messed up this year. You had one job: got all in USB-C. Not this half-way crap that will force me to buy one of those USB-C docks + a lightning to USB-C when I want to connect with my iPhone on the go.

Great job apple /s

To me the Touch Bar comes across as a marketing gimmick. How many customers were clamoring for one? You have to take your eyes off the screen to be able to use it.

Usually Apple will test something small in a product before they release it as a bigger product. Maybe the Touch Bar will turn into an OLED iPad.

The MacBook Pro has no port to charge your iPhone. Additionally there is no lightning port for you to listen to headphones that are compatible with an iPhone 7.

Therefore, if you own an iPhone or iPad, I suggest getting a 13" MacBook Air instead. You'll save a lot of money. If you are need pro-level power, I suggest a desktop.

I'm afraid that Apple don't offer a laptop or desktop that is compatible with lightning headphones, so if you own an iPhone 7 or 7+, you may need to think twice before buying a Mac, and conversely, if you own or want to buy an Apple laptop or desktop, bear in mind that you will not be able to use lightning headphones, which is what the iPhone 7 and 7+ supports, so you may need to think twice before buying an iPhone 7 or 7+.

I hope that's clear.

If only Apple had included a USB port and a lightning port on their new computers, then this problem wouldn't have arisen.
Apple came out with a USB C to lightning cable

Microsoft win. Surface studio goes 1 light year ahead...

Yeah they win, with a Core i5 and 8 Gigs of RAM for $3000!

Had Apple introduced such a niche computer, the doom&gloom machine would be at full blast (and rightly so).

Ok seriously, has no one else noticed that the 13" MBP with Touch Bar can't be configured with an SSD higher than 256GB? Where's the article pointing this out and asking the important question of "WTF Apple?"

They offer two 13" models with the touchbar, one has 256gb ssd and the other has the 512gb ssd.

Looks like a solid upgrade all around. I'm not a humongous fan of the Touch Bar from what I see, although I think it's a step forward for program-specific, modular shortcuts. Everything else is a solid upgrade to my eyes: lighter form, better screen, longer battery life, really nice processor upgrades especially for the 15-in MBP. Early comments about the Radeon 460 chip all seem extremely enthusiastic, which is a great sign.

I also think the inclusion of the headphone jack isn't as bullsh** as everyone thinks. The iPhone is being marketed as the ultimate portable, so wireless headphones are an obvious accessory-- whereas, people would use laptops for more intense multimedia (watching movies, media editing, etc) where a good wired headphone is a must.

So, ya gotta buy a dongle to import pics from iPhone if you don't want to use photostream/icloud photos...
Maybe a dongle comes in the box?

What's an advantage of a giant touchpad over normal sized one?

How do you adjust volume without looking at the keyboard, you now like when you are in bed watching a movie while laptop is on a stand. Physical keys are there for a reason
