I would of impulse bought one if they kept the original keys but added the touch bar on top and kept the prices the same.

DDR3 RAM though, in late 2016 when everyone else is adopting DDR4? And a mid-range mobile GPU? Apple have a nerve to charge premium pricing with little things like that.
Yeah that doesn't make sense. It seems like they went out of their way to put in 2133MHz DDR3 rather than DDR4, so maybe they're waiting for Macs like the Mac Pro and iMac to be released before they do it?

Or maybe it saved them an extra dollar.

I'm hoping my mid 2014 256GB 13" MBP lasts a long time. I paid $1599 for it two years ago. The crippled new one is $1899, The Mac that I would consider as the parallel Mc is $2299. Nope, wouldn't spend that much.

I can think of plenty of reasons not to buy the new MacBook Pro. Among them:

"The keyboard is almost identical to the Butterfly keyboard found on the tiny MacBook."

And $2,400 for a 15" laptop with 256 GB of storage. That is INSANE! 512 GB should be the absolute minimum sold on a "Pro" machine!

I think their "Touch of genius" line actually refers to themselves for having the "courage" to ask that people fork over that much cash in return for so little. Not even one standard USB-A port?! For $2,400?! Are they effing kidding?!

This is absolute crap!!!!

Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).

So now consumers drink the Apple Kook-Aid go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and the arrogant Apple clowns release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.

When asked about removing the 3.5mm jack, Phil Schiller has been quoted saying “the company can't justify the continued use of an 'ancient' single-use port”, and it took “courage” to abandon the 3.5mm jack.

Greg Joswiak has been quoted saying “The audio connector is more than 100 years old. It had its last big innovation about 50 years ago. You know what that was? They made it smaller. It hasn’t been touched since then. It’s a dinosaur. It’s time to move on”

Isn’t this lovely, Apple just finished telling everyone that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible, outdated, dinosaur technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.

Thanks for the inconsistency Apple. Are you now going to say it took “courage” to leave the 3.5mm jack in the MacBook but you omitted the Lighting port because that’s now obsolete?

The cable that the iPhone comes with can't even connect to the MacBook Pros o_O

Why didn't they release the iPhone 7 with a USB-C port is beyond me. Now, I'm holding my iPhone 6S which came with a USB charging port, and all of the sudden I'll have to buy a new cable if I want it to plug in with my computer.

I think I'm going to stick with a 13' inch no Touch Bar model. Not because of price (it really doesn't bother me), but because I find the touch bar too distracting. I'm the "ideal costumer" for the MacBook, but I really need the second port. So, the entry level MacBook Pro is the ideal computer for me right now.
But Apple really messed up this year. You had one job: got all in USB-C. Not this half-way crap that will force me to buy one of those USB-C docks + a lightning to USB-C when I want to connect with my iPhone on the go.

Great job apple /s
Why not try the touch bar before making a decision? All first impressions say it's not distracting.

These new MacBook pros are a classic example of form over function. A touchbar that requires you to look at it to be useful, diverting your eyes and hands from the useful work on the screen and keyboard/touchpad, implemented solely for the purpose of being cool rather than functional. A shallower, butterfly keyboard with poor key travel - an acceptable compromise for a much smaller/lighter device like the MacBook but a horrible sacrifice to the thin/light altar for a pro-level productivity notebook. The removal of genuinely useful features like the Magsafe power adapter, another sacrifice to an arbitrary aesthetic.

At this point I would have been happier had they kept everything else the same and just upgraded the internals for the same price.
Yeah, I don't think anybody cared about the thickness but it was more about the size and weight for those who were complaining about portability. It's nice to have a new design, I just wish they had retained some of the previous ports.

Wahh wahh If you don't like it, then don't freaking buy it. Quit the moaning :)

"How dare you criticise this deeply flawed product!"

What, with a PC so expensive you'd need to remortgage your house to buy it and a wobbly screened laptop that is bound to still be infested with driver & firmware issues?

Microsoft are on the right path, but they need to ensure their hardware operates as well and reliably as it looks.

Right because Apple's software launches of late have been so smooth...

You can get a USB-C to Lightning cable for $19 and charge and sync whatever iOS device you want with it.

Another dongle on the pile Apple expects us to lug around to do basic things.

I'm going to hit this [Edit Tags] button so hard.

Oh and i'll take the [New Folder] button too, please!

It's customizability must be the best part about the Touch Bar.

Most streaming sites are either in the process of or will switch to HEVC10 soon. Skylake supports HEVC8. So with HEVC10 content, yes, it will get extremely hot. For such a large investment, you want to be able to use the machine for 3-4 years right?
I know that. I was only wondering if it were some innuendo or not. And yes, I know the feeling of heat when watching high quality streams. I bought a metal chassis Samsung laptop 2 years ago and specced it out. It isn't remotely comfortable when watching 4K videos.

Let's face it though. A version of this post was going to happen regardless of which audio port they included/didn't include.

That's the way Apple seem to be going. Their regulation and in some cases consistency long the product line is decreasing. Basically, Jony Ive has more power and he goes for form over function because he likes to challenge the idea of designing a product around it's function.
