I mean I literally make money on my computer all day as a motion/graphic designer. I mean could it be faster as a laptop? Yes. But to discount that it's not a professional machine is just hyperbolic.

Back on this subject eh :). One of my favourites but really does not need adding to from all the other comments. Suffice to say the macbookpro’s are great for the majority of users and not the minority of users who require a more workstation type laptop.

Seriously though those who need power buy a desktop, and a laptop becomes the secondary machine which the MBP is the absolute best at. The complaints are purely by those who wont or cannot afford both so want one machine to do everything, which the MBP has never done [its not a workstation]. This is why we see i9 throttling etc - they cannot handle powerful CPU’s unlike the iMac pro. So it is a thicker chassis which makes it less portable or lower power CPU - i would prefer the latter in my secondary portable machine, and am sure most people who don’t hammer their laptops prefer thin and light, hence a lot of sales.

It’s all simple really. It’s just people who cannot handle the reality of the world.

...But very few of them are correct.

For simplicity, let's stick the correct meanings. It's just way easier.
Ok, let's do it. As explained above by one of these meanings this thread makes sense and by another one any thread discussing whether this laptop is bad OR good makes no sense...

No, by the correct definition of the word Professional, the MB Pro is a professional machine.

If you want to use incorrect definitions of the word "Professional" to define whether the MBPro is a "Professional" machine you can do that, but you'd be wrong.

It's a professional machine.

Most "professionals" I know need nothing more than an email application and access to Microsoft Office apps.

Even if you mean "content creator" ie: all the Adobe apps... that's everything from photography, video editors, web developers, game engine developers, etc. A MacBook Pro again, would serve most all of those people also.

For someone that wants/needs a maxed out $20,000+ machine like below.......... what do you expect? To get that in a pretty thin silver laptop you can buy in the mall? How many people anywhere are really demanding something like this? (and even within that, have a real need for them)

Fortunately you're wrong. And a lot of threads and posts here and there show it.

No they don’t.

There’s this thing called a “dictionary” that can be used to find the definition of a word.

They’re not commonly used these days but if you dig around I’m sure you’ll find a way of determining what “Professional” means.

Or don’t. Continue to use the word incorrectly. Whatever.

When coomunication was valued, they would state “professional grade” meaning high quality and able to perform during the rigors of one’s task.

What you find in other laptops is garbage, lower-quality chips that have been rejected by Apple.

Your obsession with Apple is becoming laughable at best. There is a multitude of notebooks with decent GPU's, however they don't fit your twisted narrative.

Apple just produces consumer grade products, nothing more, nothing less. Most adults are simply not so deeply invested in such matters, or need to deride anyone and everyone with a counter point.

Opinion and nonsense as you certainly do not have access to the inner workings of other providers of computer hardware...

I think its your obsession with talking about my supposed obsession that is twisting someone's narrative :p I was obviously referring to — and only to — RX 560M GPUs only since I assume that is what the original poster means by "$750 laptops with same GPU". The only point was that the full 16 core Polaris 11/21 is Apple exclusive. How you read into it that I am dissing all other GPUs is beyond me.

Simple, as that's your style...

Actually I think MacBook Pro is a "professional machine". This depends on how you define "professional".
For example, in my department(applied mathematics), almost every professor and student use MacBook Pro. I am even using Early-2015 13inch model, but I think it can handle most of my codings for courses. Some courses require intense coding and debugging, but my MacBook can handle most of them. When the calculation is really time comsuming, we would then turn to workstation in department or I would to my desktop.

If even the works we are doing in department of math are not "professional", I think you are more "professional". In that case, you does not need a laptop. Get a workstation like others mentioned above with i9 Processor or 128GB Memory.

I would have preferred a more balanced computer rather than fastest CPU and a slow GPU, but that’s what Apple makes and my stressing about this wont change anything, so I dont’. Once everyone comes to the realisation that they are mainly high end consumer computers then they can move on.
As usual if the models don’t suit, by something else. They are more than ‘pro’ enough for most people but not ‘pro’ enough for others. Not much else to say.

BTW, what website can I design or purchase this machine. Three 860 EVO STAT SSDs are pretty insane, as well as other hardware. I just want to know a little bit more, out of curiosity.;)

The 2016 and later MBP 15 inch no longer deserve to be called pro machines. Compared to what this was before, it cannot be said to be a pro machine now. It is just appealing to the mass market now.

The term you're searching for is elitism. The "mass market" is professionals.

- low-end performance
- is not robust (it remains to be seen that the 2018 Macbook Pro has fixed the keyboard)

You haven't touched one, have you? Low-end performance? Have you checked out the disk performance on some of the models?
As to not robust- you make a claim and then admit that your claim is unfounded.

I despise the butterfly keyboard, but I don't have to post a clueless condemnation for it. Apple made changes which should improve the quality of the device itself. As to the feel of using the butterfly keyboard, THAT is a different story.
