Yeah considering MacRumors is reporting that they are starting to become available to buy in store now, there's not. chance that the preorders will be delivered before store stock arrives. I never expected that to be the case

Edit: Misread this post. My apologies.

Hi quick question,

Are we certain that they're being shipped from China? Just the last few pre-orders I can remember were shipped to us from within the uk so only got preparing for shipment one evening, shipped the following evening then delivered the day after that. I'm just wondering if it's worth going through the hassle of asking to work from home tomorrow!
no one knows for sure. All the CS people I've spoken to have said BTO machines are coming from China, but even if that's the case, it doesn't mean they aren't already in Europe somewhere before we got PFS. So it's just an unknown really, We won't know until someone gets a Shipped notice or a UPS tracking advisory notice

Why not? This happens literally every time — with iPhones, you can queue up and buy them from the stores on launch day, whereas if you took a while to preorder you might be waiting a few weeks for your iPhone to arrive.

Yeah - that's what I said! I said there's no chance all the pre orders will arrive before the devices are available to buy in stores. Exactly what you're saying

I expect them to deliver the pre-orders ordered within 10 minutes after the keynote before they start selling them in stores. Yes.
Best case scenario - the early pre orders come over to the Uk for example in the same shipment as the first Store stock, so the first preorders would be delivered on the day they are launched in the shops. But that's best case from what I've seen
[doublepost=1479291317][/doublepost]of course the benefit of pre ordering is that if you want a non stock model, you will hopefully get that before you could go into a store and pick one up, as they would have to be BTO no matter what.

What's the cutoff? 10 mins? 30 mins? What about the guy that ordered at 30 minutes and 1 second?

With every Apple release, there's store availability in some parts of the world before other parts of the world start receiving their preorders — iPhone included (although with the iPhone it's due to timezones on the same day). I doubt you'll see retail availability in Germany before you receive your preorder, though.

Thanks! I'll try to stay positive and not refresh the page like a maniac...
you dont need to refresh like a maniac, let something like Refresh Monkey do it for you! Then you can console yourself with the fact that you're not sitting in front of the computer doing it every 5 seconds yourself at least

My personal status will change soon to GOT MAD!!!!
I doubt that they will actually deliver our machines in the first half of the window in Europe.
If there only is available 13" 16/512 in some store, I would cancel my order right now.

It seems like the P4S happens during the evening (European time), so try to get some work/study/whatever done and check back in like 6-7 hours.

I think they are still collecting a big batch for Europe, so we just might be waiting on you (and others) to get P4S too.

Hi guys,
Any news from Italy?

I ordered a 13 MB with 16Gb of ram on the 28th. My deliver window is 25th Nov - 2nd Dec and my order status is still "processing items"

I really hope they are in the EU (the fact that a lot of EU orders came available just after the landing of a UPS plane on Cologne airport seems to be to much of a coincidence).

Really hope to see a shipping update today.

Yes it seemed to happen all at once. If the truck left Cologne at 10 (PostNL and DHL updates seem to happen at around 10am for me) it should arrive in Eindhoven right about now.

I really do think that they are in China though, but obviously I hope they are in Europe.

I guess this will stay at least for another week. I'm in the same boat with delivery between 24th November to 1st December.

Just spoke to an apple rep, she told that my order will be shipped from a warehouse in china

I wouldn't expect significant stock to be available in retail stores but I would expect them to have some stock. The planning for retail store stock has probably been arranged for months and since it involves standard product skus is a lot easier to plan for than the dizzying array of BTO skus already discussed in this thread. You can't seriously expect Apple to pay millions for expensive retail stores and then not have ANY product in them. They need to have demonstration models at the very least to drive future orders.

Another thing to bear in mind is that Apple will have been building sub-assemblies for these machines for many months based on predicted order patterns but it is only when the orders were actually starting to come in on launch day that they would have actual data to know what they needed to build. If for example, more people ordered BTO models than they predicted then that would mean more machines would be available to go to retail stores. Let's face it, the sort of people who frequent this forum are probably the sort of people who are more likely to request a BTO model than a stock model.

My friends, probably you cannot read Chinese, i bring some 'truths' from chinese forum:
1 After 4 days of the keynote, MBP with TB began to sell in Mainland China, and result is Chinese got the first one. Some of the orders from Mainland arrive 'EARLIER' than estimated even we booked several days before...
2 You can walk in to buy MBP with TB without allocation in most apple store in HK...
3 Most of Chinese users found the status will only be changed at 16.30 (GMT+8) every day, so you dont need to check everyday.
4 i tell you this because i am really angry that i, with delivery window between 21nov to 28nov, are told that other than Mainland costumers, the day i can get my MBP is about 25 (middle in the window).
5 i suggest that we can share some information in this third party forum instead of being played by APPLE. (There is a chinese saying called, big company bullies small costumer.)

Even if they are/were still in China, it doesn't take that long to fly product in from China. It's not as if they are on a proverbial 'slow boat'. My iPhone 7+ came from China via South Korea, Kazakstan and a couple of stops in mainland Europe and it was only 24-36 hours from initial departure to arrival here in Scotland.

I personally don't think there is much doubt that they are all coming from China, especially the BTO machines and I don't think dispatch notifications will be issued until they depart China. The only exception to this might be if a BTO option is such a popular BTO that it is stockpiled in a similar way to the standard SKUs in which case stock might be allocated from a more local warehouse. Seems quite unlikely to me though.

Do you know 11.11 is the online shopping festival of Alibaba? It start at midnight, and some of the goods i booked can be delivered in the morning...
