I am 99.9% sure the update is happening this Tuesday now.
I have a question about AppleCare. Let's say that today (February 8, 2008), I get a new Macbook Pro (just hypothetically-speaking since I am waiting for the new ones) but I decide not to get the extended AppleCare coverage, so my laptop will only be covered for one year. Then on February 8, 2009, I decide to get AppleCare for the MBP I bought on Feb. 8, 08. Can I do that and then will my laptop be covered for 3 extra years (aka until Feb. 8, 2012)?

For years I toiled unthinkingly under the PC yoke, and now, just when my eyes have opened to the possibility of something better, and I set my sights on a MBP, I get caught up in a rousing game of "Guess When Steve Will Let Us Have a Shiny New Toy."
Now I know that I haven't been waiting nearly as long as some of you. I've been reading these speculation threads long enough to have seen posts by people who have been waiting since last summer. But, under the best of circumstances, I'm not a patient person (just ask my wife), and when a new toy is involved, forget it.
Like a lot of other people, I will continue to wait...but I don't want to. I'm ready to make the switch, so give it to me. If nothing else, it will release us from the roller coaster of threads like this one, where every other day we've got a new date to pick apart.

aren't there any insiders who are prepared to let the secret out?![]()
Nope. Not ones that value their jobs anyway.
Nope. Not ones that value their jobs anyway.
it sounds like you could be an apple employee?
You know it's not that. They just enjoy taunting poor helpless customers, watching us ran madly at the apple site every tuesday!
To be honest, most of the people who know - which aren't many - have their jobs because they can keep their mouth shut.
NEWSFLASH! Mr. Funsocks is an Apple employee! He knows the release date for the new MBP! Everyone PM him and he will tell you, but only in private!![]()
Dang. Foiled again. I've been found out. Quickly Steve start the Apple choppa. To Cupertino!
Sorry for off topic but can you give us a clue when Mac OS 10.5.2 will be released? Like early or late this coming week?
Don't the new MacBook Pros require Mac OS 10.5.2?

I can't tell you much. But I can tell you that it will be released........... eventually.......... The macbook pros may or may not require it. Acually scrath that. They macbook pros will require it and we won't release it until December............... of '09 Ok I think that's enough customer torcher for one day. I'm going to go surf on my unreleased Penryn, multitouch, magnetic latch, 2.8ghz macbook pro. Later.
Awesome!
New 2.8GHz Penryn, magnetic latch, multitouch MacBook Pros soon.![]()
Soon? Didn't you read my post? You're not seeing this baby until December of '09. And we will probably release some kind of bug or screen yellowing issue with it to further the torcher which all of you will complain about and we will eventually, reluctantly fix.
I thought you were joking when you said of December of '09.![]()
Ok..ok....my bad...chillax. So then let me rephrase. I buy MBP on Feb. 8, 08 without AppleCare. Warranty runs out on Feb. 8, 09. I wait a year, then on Feb. 8, 2010 I buy AppleCare. Can I do that and be covered until Feb. 8, 2012?Applecare covers you for an additional TWO years after the 12 month warranty, not three!
