i think we're on to something here people!

Tuesday IS the day.

:)

I am 99.9% sure the update is happening this Tuesday now.

Jeez you're getting me all exited now. I can't be like this anymore. I'm on edge all the time. The past two tuesdays the store has gone down (for the pink nano and then the iphone/ipod touch updates.) I was so excited, so sure that that was the day. (Maybe not sure but I sure as hell wanted it to be) and then I was dissappointed again. I want this Tuesday just as much as the rest of you. But I don't think I can take another emotional beating again.

Also if not this Tuesday then when? Certainly not March 17? Who thinks that it will be out the Tuesday after next if not this Tuesday? Who thinks it will come at the rumored event at the end of Feb?

I have a question about AppleCare. Let's say that today (February 8, 2008), I get a new Macbook Pro (just hypothetically-speaking since I am waiting for the new ones) but I decide not to get the extended AppleCare coverage, so my laptop will only be covered for one year. Then on February 8, 2009, I decide to get AppleCare for the MBP I bought on Feb. 8, 08. Can I do that and then will my laptop be covered for 3 extra years (aka until Feb. 8, 2012)?

Until 2011.

Applecare covers you for an additional TWO years after the 12 month warranty, not three!

nearly bought a new Macbook last week...

For years I toiled unthinkingly under the PC yoke, and now, just when my eyes have opened to the possibility of something better, and I set my sights on a MBP, I get caught up in a rousing game of "Guess When Steve Will Let Us Have a Shiny New Toy."

Now I know that I haven't been waiting nearly as long as some of you. I've been reading these speculation threads long enough to have seen posts by people who have been waiting since last summer. But, under the best of circumstances, I'm not a patient person (just ask my wife), and when a new toy is involved, forget it.

Like a lot of other people, I will continue to wait...but I don't want to. I'm ready to make the switch, so give it to me. If nothing else, it will release us from the roller coaster of threads like this one, where every other day we've got a new date to pick apart.

I was just about to convert last week from an HP laptop to a Macbook 13" when my husband suggested checking what new releases were due out. I'm totally amazed to have found this site with sooooo many people desperate for the new release MBP. I'm definately waiting now for the MBP 15" to be updated: the obvious updates are are the multi-touch pad, Penryn chip, backlit keyboard...aren't there any insiders who are prepared to let the secret out?;)

Haha, trying to beat the system eh? No :apple: thought of that already. Good luck trying to find more loopholes in their policies though.

You know it's not that. They just enjoy taunting poor helpless customers, watching us ran madly at the apple site every tuesday!

To be honest, most of the people who know - which aren't many - have their jobs because they can keep their mouth shut.

I like melchior's answer better. I can see that happening. "Hey guys, let's let loose a bunch of rumors about MBP's coming after MWSF and then update the store every week with everything but the MBP!" "Great idea lol!"

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they just sit around thinking up the next way to torcher us. I bet the next thing will be rumors of an new ACD or something to that extent that hasn't been updated in awhile.

NEWSFLASH! Mr. Funsocks is an Apple employee! He knows the release date for the new MBP! Everyone PM him and he will tell you, but only in private!:apple:

Dang. Foiled again. I've been found out. Quickly Steve start the Apple choppa. To Cupertino!

Sorry for off topic but can you give us a clue when Mac OS 10.5.2 will be released? Like early or late this coming week?
Don't the new MacBook Pros require Mac OS 10.5.2?

I can't tell you much. But I can tell you that it will be released........... eventually.......... The macbook pros may or may not require it. Acually scrath that. They macbook pros will require it and we won't release it until December............... of '09 Ok I think that's enough customer torcher for one day. I'm going to go surf on my unreleased Penryn, multitouch, magnetic latch, 2.8ghz macbook pro. Later.

well 10.5.2 will be released when it's ready. You'd think soon, but they keep finding just ONE last bug it seems.

And as for the new MacBook Pros requiring it .. nobody knows, we have no hard facts that there ARE MacBook Pros at all, let alone what their specs are or whether they require 10.5.2. Can't really see why they would, the Air runs on 10.5.1, they've released the MacPro Penryn right, and that runs on 10.5.1, what's left to require 10.5.2?

Soon? Didn't you read my post? You're not seeing this baby until December of '09. And we will probably release some kind of bug or screen yellowing issue with it to further the torcher which all of you will complain about and we will eventually, reluctantly fix.

I thought you were joking when you said of December of '09. ;):)

Ok..ok....my bad...chillax. So then let me rephrase. I buy MBP on Feb. 8, 08 without AppleCare. Warranty runs out on Feb. 8, 09. I wait a year, then on Feb. 8, 2010 I buy AppleCare. Can I do that and be covered until Feb. 8, 2012?
