I was on the phone with a guy Rich who set up the return. They are emailing me the FedEx return labels and as soon as they come, slap them on and send them back. I don't have to pay for shipping or restocking fee and I get a refund when they get them back.

Forgive Me Russet

No Txhil, I enjoyed the joke and felt it needed an appreciative repost which certainly is not being ambivalent. Antagonistic - only if you misunderstood that in fact my comment was supporting yours. Agnostic - no certainly not possible in Bali, I was suggesting that if you could talk to god you could find the answer we are all seeking. Ass - there aren't any of those in Bali, elsewhere maybe.

Did you hear about the dyslexic who asked "is there a dog?"

Next Tuesday is the launch date my friends. You see next Tuesday in the real world is, as everybody knows, pancake day. Apple are being very clever and are using this auspicious day to launch there latest range of laptops that are even thinner than the Macbook Air, in fact they are as thin as a,yes you gessed it, a pancake.

The name of this super beast is of course the MBP or MACBOOK PANCAKE!

Roll on next Tuesday.
Dear Russet, Ohhhhhh how I hang my head in shame, I upon waking this morning realized that indeed DNA was for Dyslexic National Association. Please forgive me for this week I have been very touchy about little things. I had an Asthma attack Monday and I believe it was brought on by the obbssesive nature of these forums and the realization that we are going to wait for an eternity for anything we want updated to update.

What was I thinking? How many times have I told people I am e-mailing not to do vocal inflection interpretations whilst reading. I was completely out of line and out of breath. I am actually an easy going person and other than the lack of oxygen to my brains I don't have a clue what came over me!

It is tough being dyslexic and asthmatic because most of the time I think I am breathing in whilst actually I am exhaling. This causes irreverent outburst of inane nature of which you were the unfortunate, unwilling, reciprocate.

I prayed to Dog that I could catch my flawed message in time but alas I was too late. SIGH. Now that oxygen is once again flowing freely through my body I hope we can still be dyslexic friends on this never-ending journey towards Apple nowhere.

Question? Do you feel like sometimes Steve Jobs is Moses and we are his people, following him aimlessly, through a vast desert, to a promised Land that will end up being where? In the middle of the friggin desert?

Once again my apologizes. HIL

I can see Steve pitching the idea for the Macbook Pancake.

"There's something in my belly..."

I completely forgot about pancake day. If it does come out Tuesday, I will order my MBP, then celebrate by eating free pancakes at iHop. XD

Actually, Pancake Day (or Shrove Tuesday) has already happened. It was last Tuesday, February 5th.

Hi Everyone,
I'm a windows user, have been forever, but now that I'm getting my associate in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, I'm TRYING to buy my first mac (MBP 17"). The key word here is trying, i was this close ( [] )(the gap in between is how close i was haha) to buying the MBP monday, until a friend put me onto the fact that there supposedly is an update coming up soon. The anticipation is killing me considering I could be on one right now, but would have kicked myself in the keester if i would have gotten it monday and then SOMETIME soon they come out with'a fresher one. it just feel likes i'm possibly waiting in vain. So Apple, if you're listening, HURRY THE F' UP! you're costing me money because i have to go down to AIP to do homework and bus fare went from $1.75 to $2.00, and if you're an art student, or a student in general, you know that every buck counts, esp if you're trying to buy a friggin MBP. So please, do us all a favor and put it out on tuesday, or, or i will, i'm gunna be forced tooooo.....ahh who am i kidding, i'm gunna be forced to wait another week. :(

question-if it comes out tuesday, does that mean i'll be able to go to the Local Apple store and it'll be there waiting for me with open arms or just that it does exist but i'll have to wait for another few weeks for it to hit shelves?

Just depends. MacBook Air started shipping from the online store before they officially launched in retail stores. Other times they are available simultaneously. But you never have to wait a couple weeks for stuff to show up in the retail stores. Usually its just a couple days difference. So yeah.

I'm sure you already looked at the buyer's guides here...don't pay Apple for RAM. Sometimes Mac newbies make that mistake ;)

How about... its like waiting for your birthday to come, only you're not sure when it is.

You should get your RAM from Crucial or OWC... I like G.Skill RAM from newegg.com

I have no idea if this means anything or not. My Black Macbook broke down for the 3rd time on Tuesday 5th with the exact same problem. The Product specialist decided to replace it this time so I requested that I pay the difference and upagrade to the entry level 15" MBP which he allowed me to do.

Well, now I'm a bit confused. Tuesday 5th I was approved for the upgrade to the entry level 15" MacbookPro:
Apple has agreed to replace your MB 13/2.16/2X512/160/SD-DL:BLACK with a MBP 15/2.2/2X1GB/120-5400/128VRAM (MA895LL/A). Because you have elected to upgrade to a product other than what Apple has offered, you also agree to pay 500 for this upgraded product.
You can see the specs of the MBP in the quote above. I chose all the default options except I chose the glossy screen instead (no additional cost).

Yesterday FedEx picked up my defective Macbook and the Apple rep ordered my MBP. Today I got an e-mail informing me of the order and my order # and a link to the order status page. Looking at that page shows the config specs (listed below) which are identical to the mid level MBP and not the entry level MBP.

Ships by: Feb 8 - Feb 12

I called to confirm that their not sending and charging me for the mid level MBP. She confirmed I'm getting the entry level MBP and will only be charged $500. Since the rumor is the MBP update is coming on Feb 12th and my shipping date says between the 8th and 12th maybe I will be getting one of the updated models, I'm honesty not sure.

It's a pity "Product / Part No." was not specified, then you would know.

Plastic Casing for THe New MBP ?

After 2 and a half years with the same 15"iBook, I am very ready for an upgrade ! Previously I had the aluminum 15 " G4. It could not keep up with the constant banging around that my almost constant worldwide travel gave it. Eventually the screen gave out. Therefore I do not want another aluminum case. However I cannot stand looking at teh tiny 13.3 inch screens of the MB or MBA. SO I am in areal bind - there is no plastic case 15 " ! So I hope and pray that the new MPB will have a plastic option. ANyone think that is possible ?

I know that some members are very impatient with hardware update, if no MBP update in rest of Feb after would confirm by March 1 and tell you that MBP don't update then... don't whine to Apple and calm down yourself.

New MBP isn't perfect, none of them are perfect, if you need MBP so badly then get one, even update wouldn't make better or perfect.

Apple is much difference from other companies, such as MS, MS did stated the release date for SP1 but Apple don't stated for 10.5.2, Apple is just more secret. If you don't like Apple's secret then don't buy their products as they would experience on financial loss and make change to set on release date for everyone.

If you don't want Apple's secret then just don't buy their products, let them to lose the money then they would change the role of company.

To be honest, I'm getting sick of Apple's secret, I want know about new hardware to be planned with release date, that make us to trust on Apple.

Again, Peryn isn't heat free, you can experience on heat or hot when run on intensive graphic or hardcore 3-D games, that make MBP to be so hotter but Peryn don't make less heat or heat free.

Ok, lucky3killer, let's do an experiment I propose that no one buy a MBP from now on, unless they need one. I think if we do that, they will get the message from our show of force and realise keeping secrets is hurting their sales and will release the new MBP! Maybe by next tuesday, if they read this forum on the weekend.

You can quote me on that. Put me on the front page. I stake my reputation on it!

yah I think you better wait and get the updated Macbook Pro.

I think what he's saying is that it is quite possible that he already is getting the updated MacBook Pro.

The specs for the model they are sending him have a bigger HDD and more powerful processor than the "current" baseline MBP, and he confirmed and re-confirmed that he was getting the base model, and they assured him he is.

Combine this with the end ship date... A tuesday that has been rumored as a possible release date for the updated MBPs... Well, connect the dots.

I am 99.9% sure the update is happening this Tuesday now.

EDIT:

Interesting... They make no mention in the specs list what Graphics card is in it...

Wheelie4, call them up and ask what Graphics card you're getting in it, and how much RAM it has. If they can't tell you, that's very exciting news. It probably means they're updating the Graphics Card in the new MBPs as well.

Penryn will be a step in the right direction in improving the wonderful technology we have in these wonderful computers. :)
