there is a 14 day return policy, so if you are in DESPERATE need just buy one, do your thing and then return, that is if you have enough for restocking fees. :( Its coming out soon, i can feel it.... That or Jobs is reading the amount of trash we been talking on the boards and is saying screw these people.

Old PowerBook G4 ( HOLD ON )

Well another BIG let down today !!!!!!:mad::mad:
Bought my current laptop in January 2005 and really need a newer and faster one. Will not settle for the current model because as soon as I do there will be another one.... or maybe not!!!! (the way things are going) If Apple intends to drag this out I will just wait or buy another brand and sell it when the new one does. Just a few months ago I purchased a new iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and bumped the ram to 2 GB and this suits my purpose for my work. My laptop is actually my main computer and the one I sync my iPod and iPhone to photo library and all the personal files not needed for work. If Apple intends to discontinue the MacBook Pro I just wish they would say so so we can plan what to do. The current model now is the oldest design in the entire line up!!!! What gives?? Come on Apple....:(

i put my vote on feb. 26 now...;)

I find the entire situation hilarious. People trying to second guess a company that is specifically trying to withhold information so as to try and rip you off with outdated hardware seconds before an update.

Got my refurb MBP last week, and I love it. Save yourselves the bother, the stress - just buy a refurb or a cheap new machine off ebay. The waiting game is a fools game.

I mean it is still early, and I think I read on here before that they release later in the day, just like that lame ass pink nano. They didn't make a big deal about Aperture so it very well can be today still. Aperture is nothing HUGE , its software, big F'n deal. New software is worthless on old hardware.

I would love that, but i dont think I remember apple ever taking the store down 2x in one day... :( Especially when it was already 2.5 hrs down

As of 9:31 a.m. Eastern the Apple online store is still down. I just tried to check the status of my MBA shipment, and I got this:

Thank you for shopping at the Apple Online Store
Apple's Online and phone Order Status services are temporarily unavailable due to a scheduled upgrade to our systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience

That was the US Apple store. I got this message when I tried to log in. I actually tried it three times, and got the same message. I needed to log in in order to check the order status on the MBA that I ordered a week ago.

Edit: I've just tried it one more time (at 09:47 a.m.) and was able to log in.

You'll be changing your tune when were all surfing on our Penryn mbps and your still using outdated hardware.

No, I won't. I'll have a machine very nearly as fast, and £500 in my pocket...and I'll have been using it for a good few weeks, earning money, getting work done, and enjoying it. If all you intend to do with a £1600 Penryn MBP is surf, then you're wasting your money anyway.

Want to be Steve's lap-dog, go ahead. I'd rather get on with my life.

Yea but Steve is rich so I'll wait and be a pretty pampered lap dog

I've been stalking these forums for the last couple of months and thought I'd finally say hello.

I'm playing the waiting game as well, but this is becoming most frustrating. I would love to think that we'll see some updates by the end of February, but even the Apple event later this month that a lot of us are banking on is still just a rumor at this point.

I'm beginning to think that it's February or bust for me. I haven't decided yet if "bust" means buying the current MBP model or remaining a Windows user at home. I use a Mac at work and love it, but I'm in agreement that the current MBP hardware needs a facelift for the price.

Anyways, "hello, everyone!", and here's hoping we don't have to wait together too much longer.

Obviously not just surf. Or I'd get a macbook or a mb flAir. Also I really can't justify spending that much money on an outdated machine. That's why were all waiting. If you haven't figured that out now then you shouldn't even be here. Go enjoy your new machine and get out of the waiting threads. We don't feel like listening to your negativity.

Welcome to macrumors fellow mac user;).

Hey guys maybe if we formed a giant mob with torches and pitchforks and stormed the apple campus we could get the mbp. I bet they have stocks of them somewhere around there. Good idea no?

I was in the same boat as you but i only have a couple of weeks (5Mar) before i head out of country so on 2Feb i went ahead and pull the trigger and bought a mbp and blackbook for the wifey. been happy ever since, and am glad i pull the trigger.
Oh yea, hello to everyone also!!:D

Intel comes out with a new chip, no reason not to slap a quick update in there. Unless of course, they know that people are waiting for the next update...so to much old inventory.

new times I suppose. Intel updates on a regular basis and apple makes to many laptops to clear out to keep up with Intel. :)

I do know this, I wont buy the current laptop. (doesnt mean others should do like wise). But i will wait...and wait...and wait. :)

So apple...time to discount what you have, get rid of inventory, and start keeping up. :)

peace
