Well I am EXPLICITLY STATING that I'd rather wait for a machine with better specs, a multitouch trackpad, and a magnetic latch.

agreed.
Since a new MBP is imminent, i believe it's better not to cave and buy what's out there. I'd rather whine about apple being slow to release an update than whine about how i just bought an inferior product days before a new release at the same price.

And you know for a fact that the Penryn refresh will have those, how, exactly?

Doug

Never said I did. But the possibility of having it is worth waiting for. That's why everyone else is waiting. So get your negativity out of here. I, nor anyone else here cares for it.

I know my prediction about the MacBook Pro Pink wasn't really plausible. I also said I would be pissed off if there would be nothing but a black keyboard after the update... Just imagine how pissed off I am right now! Where does this Apple Store webmaster live? When does his workday end? Can we torture him until he tells us when the new MBP's will be released?

Maybe we should protest... Tomorrow @8 in front of Apple HQ, anyone? Maybe it's a nice idea for the candidates for the elections in the US. I bet the candidate who is helping us find out when the new MBP will be released will get all our votes.

your negativity out of here.

This isn't about 'negativity'. It's about a bunch of people stressing out once a week because of a company that likes to screw its customers, waiting for something that will almost certainly be short of expectations.

I'm offering a POSITIVE option, as opposed to the negativity that's existing in this thread already (and there is a LOT of it). That option is to save yourself a few hundred bucks, and buy the current machine ( which will not be appreciably slower than the new model ) and start enjoying it now.

The other option is to continue to wait, to continue to not have any MBP at all, to get shafted for an extra £500, the inevitable new build quality issues. I consider that the negative option.

And you are fundamentally wrong in stating that 'everyone else' is waiting.

They are not, many, like me, have decided to stop playing Apple's stupid games, and get the machine we want, at the price we like, without stressing out about it any more. https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=4861601#post4861601

Having made the decision to buy a refurb, and to be now enjoying using it without the 'next tuesday' cloud over my head - to see so many people talking about how they can't sleep on the monday night, or having their entire student loan waiting to spend...it's hillarious, and a little bit tragic. Don't agree with me, fine, but no need to be so negative about it

Hey dude you gotta do what you gotta do. It's just most people here would prefer to wait. Enjoy your new machine.

I dont think anyone is in the wrong here. Either you wait or you dont. I would like to have the newest technology, not because the old is bad, which its not, but because I like to be on top of the tech game. And no one knows if Apple is playing a "game", for all we know is that there is a huge problem that they are trying to solve. It is also strategy on the sales department, anticipation is key because it has us all waiting, anxiously, they want us to start talking, because the moment it gets out there it will be a mad house. I think a lot of you have to see it on the business aspect, not so much the give me give me aspect. Its smart business and that is why Apple is on top of the computer game

Doug, I most certainly do not agree with you. It's just not the same for everyone. For example: I don't have enough money to buy a new laptop every two months. I got a loan to pay for this laptop, since I really need one for my education. It would be such a waste of money if I bought a laptop for still quite a lot of money that is due to be updatet really soon. If I am going to spend a lot of cash on this computer I just want more for every penny I pay. I don't really understand what's tragic about that. Actually, if you don't care about this update... Why are you reading all of this? That's even worse, if you ask me.

It's fun to be angry with Apple on this forum. Just an outlet, you know. We need an outlet because Apple is evil.Obviously.

Guys, my MBP shipped from "SHANGHAI CN" yesterday. Is that China!? I'm on the east coast USA (North Carolina). Anyway it looks like I will get it today even hough the FedEx site says the 14th. It left the local hub this morning and is listed as "Out for Delivery". I hope it gets here today. Every morning when booting up I get "Unmountable boot Volume" on my WinXP Dell and have to boot from CD to do a chkdsk /p then a fixboot. Grrrr!

That's the same thing I wanted to know. If he has a mbp already what is he even doing in all the waiting threads?

I can't wait to see if you get the 2.4ghz one or not.

Sadly, you're probably correct. Let's face it, I would be very surprised if the majority of folks buying a new Apple are also sitting here reading the forums all day long like some of us. The average consumer will at best do some spec and price comparison and buy something.
Apple isn't foolish, why should they announce a release date for a new product? All that would serve to do is slow down sales and leave them with extra stock... stock that sells very well because the majority of people are oblivious to release dates.

That's the same thing I wanted to know. If he has a mbp already what is he even doing in all the waiting threads?

Hopefully he ( and other people ) who didn't want to wait won't start posting "but apple screwed me over" messages, when Apple do release Penyrn MBPs , next week.

Personally, I think its worth the short ( and torturous!) wait for a better spec'ed machine, at a lower price ( due to exchange rates ).

The way I look at it most of us do buy a laptop when we need it. It's just that the exact date when we needed it is usually flexible by more than a month.

My window is set by the time between the last date I can afford to put off a purchase and the date the last laptop refresh was done. If that window is 6 months or more, I wait for a refresh. If it's not, I buy what's out. Pretty simple.

...that doesn't mean I can't join in the highs and lows of waiting though!:D

Damnit. I knew it. Stop making these stupid rumours until it can be confirmed!
This week to week "Are the New MBPs coming out"? is starting to annoy me and saddens me every week when they dont come out:mad::p

I just went out to buy my MACBOOK PRO today because you guys keep saying things. We probably won't see an update till April since this cycle will be skipped for sure. THAT'S A FACT, I'M THE SOURCE.

Yeah guys, doesn't look like it's going to happen today... What a bummer. This waiting is getting too frustrating

You guys need to realize that this is a site dedicated to the Apple RUMORS, just because it says it will be released on a certain date DOES NOT mean it is going to.... Hence... say it with me fellas... MAC RUMORS.COM

Its funny that you guys think this site is a big secret that Apple doesn't know about and how we are the 1st to know... Absolutely not. Granted some sources are correct, but you all need to relax. If the wait kills you then by all means go and get your self a laptop, I highly doubt your 2500 dollars is even going to matter to Apple.

This is the industry and you need to learn the game before you start playing it. I'm apart of a big company as a designer and I know the ins and outs of how these big companies work .

Sure my money isn't important for Apple. Neither is yours. But all of us together have lots of money we want to spend on one of the greatest laptops in the world. About the regular folk thing: I think that is correct if you look at models like the MacBook or the iMac. MBP's are more professional computers though, so the buyers are probably more careful when they buy their laptop. So, Apple is probably enoying their potential buyers.

But that's not the point, not at all. If Apple would give us an indication about the date of introduction of the new model, it's possible to make our decision more rational. It's just more polite.

Obviously, Apple doesn't care about politeness. They just want to make loads of money. Who expected anything else, right...
