And for Aussie, it would be $4000 starting price for MacBook Pro 14” and $5500 for base 16”, absolutely out of reach for everyone but the professional and wealthy. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the top of the line reaching $8000."he pricing gap between the 14 and 16-inch options will be "much more narrow" than the current 13 and 16-inch high-end MacBook Pro options."
Translation the MacBook Pro 14 is going to be priced much higher. These might be the true pro machines with the colorful MacBook Air replacements being consumer machines.
I reckon starting price would be much higher, $500 more, to push everyone else who can’t afford a fan buy fanless MacBook Air. Passive cooling can only go so far, and throttling is real.My guess on the new lineup is:
Notice what's missing? The 13 inch M1 Pro! It will be discontinued. The low end will be the iPad Pro/MBA with M1 and the Pro models will have M1X only. This allows the line to expand year after year with M2/M2X, M3/M3X, etc.
- 13 inch M1 MBA with 8/256 at $999
- 13 inch M1 MBA with 8/512 at $1299
- 14 inch M1X MBP with 8/256 at $1499
- 14 inch M1X MBP with 16/512 at $1799
- 16 inch M1X MBP with 16/512 at $2399
- 16 inch M1X MPB with 32/1TB at $3499
That would be a 48% increase on the current 4 port 13" model and a 71% increase for the entry level 16" model. This makes no sense. It will be under $3000 for both screen sizes, though perhaps not much under. And for Aussie, it would be $4000 starting price for MacBook Pro 14” and $5500 for base 16”, absolutely out of reach for everyone but the professional and wealthy. Oh ok. That would be a bit better, though Apple certainly can have the courage to do that to mask chip shortage impact from uninitiated. Hope they don’t.That would be a 48% increase on the current 4 port 13" model and a 71% increase for the entry level 16" model. This makes no sense. Don’t let the ladies hear you say that…SD and HDMI, please. I hate my dongle.
8GB on an Air for the vast majority of users in that market is plenty. For all the power users here, 8GB or even 16GB is probably not enough. Why 16 GB RAM? Macrumors says 8GB of RAM is all you need.
Material used to build those drives, their pirces go up the longer we drain natural resources, then, end products price goes up as well.Learn how to read... It says 8TB USB. Though the price pattern is the same for all drives. With time they go down in price, never up.
Apple went to 16GB/512GB standard from 16GB/256GB in the base model with the mid-2019 model, which retailed for $2399. So, a little over two years ago and not remotely close to $3000.That has been the standard for the 15/16 inch for years. They really need to update it and is not appropriate for nearly $3000 machine.
I just wish Apple would release a worthy external display.
I have the M1 13” 8GB/512GB with the basic compliment of creative apps (FCP X, Logic Pro, Office 365, Affinity Suite, et al NO ADOBE) and I am using about 300GB of space on the SSD. I am not entirely sure why this much space is being used, so it could be some cruft somewhere I have not accounted for, but so I only have M1 optimized apps. The 14" will be my first Mac. I am wondering how much useable free space is left on a 512 GB model before installing applications. I'll be installing MS Office and Final Cult Pro? How many GB is just macOS? I'm not sure if I should buy the 512 GB or get the 1 TB.
That makes sense with the Mini which sits on a desk, but not necessarily with a MacBook which sits on your lap.Order the minimum Apple SSD option then order any 3rd party (fast) SSD using a 3rd party external enclosure (Thunderbolt - $80 from OWC) ) and achieve the SAME performance of the Apple supplied SSD for a lot less money. This is how I built my M1 Mini.
I just wish Apple would release a worthy external display.
Is he a reliable leaker?
Is this trolling? No Mac mini with the M1x? instead of the anemic M1 Chip?
As this is your first Mac, I would humbly advise you to either upgrade to the 1TB SSD or buy the upmarket config that comes with the 1TB SSD. Good luck!
sure, but think about how much that upgrade costs per month for as long as you plan on keeping the computer. I bet its less than two cups of coffee per month.Thank you. That helps a lot. Although it is going to hurt that going from 512 GB to 1 TB is likely to cost another AUD$300!
That camera is in the middle of an enormous bezel so there is more space for a bigger camera module and associated wiring.Im confused, this new MacBook Pro is rumored to have a 1080p camera. The 9th generation iPad which can be found for 300 dollars comes with an Advance 12MP Ultra Wide Front Camera and Center Stage. Something clearly is off here.
I wonder how much money Apple will charge for all of this. If the same prices are kept, then $1799 for the 14-inch model and $2399 for the 16-inch one. But I can imagine Apple putting the prices way higher than this.I’m guessing $1799 14” and $2399 $16”
FaceID unlock - I hope not, it's a bright IR flash right into your eyes every time you open the thing, I saw some videos of the iPhone with an IR camera.Wouh i just miss Faceid unlock 😂. But very hyped since I saw first XPS 15 to have such thin bezels : View attachment 1863315
