The way I see it, waiting to buy an Apple product only because it's new released really distracts you from actually enjoying the apple device itself. One member on here made sense when he said to buy the apple product because you want it and then don't look on sites like these that compare older models to newer models.

I've learned a lot cause I at one time have felt really stressed because I've purchased an older iPad 3rd Gen instead of the more expensive 4th gen model and I felt a lot of regret (so I returned the iPad 3 to purchase the newest model iPad Mini 2). But, from experience with my mini 2 and my iPhone 5s, I've learned that as long as your Apple Device is in excellent condition you shouldn't really be worried about how long ago the device was released. My mini 2 still runs Excellent to my expectations even though newer models have been released and my 5s can last me another 1-2 years.

Don't mind me, even though Apple might release a new rMBP 13" in the spring 2016, I'm just gazing at my sealed Early 2015 rMBP 13" 256gb for the best Christmas Day ever.

The thing is, if you buy a freshly released product, you'll most likely to regret when the next generation of it comes. Even like buying it 2 or 3 months before is okay too. I am trying to teach this to myself. I've bought a new Note Edge a month ago, I did regret for not giving a little bit more to get the Note 5. But now I am telling myself that this device is just okay and more that enough for what I need. Just because the new model has little bit more horsepower doesn't mean my device will suck compared to it. More people have to understand this because if they keep comparing their "old" models to new ones, they'll do nothing that just upseting themselves for no reason. I say that if someone needs a device, they should get the newest device they can afford. And avoid comparing their devices and just enjoy it.

Too Slow for What?

If you are only going to run benchmarks on your computer, I guess you are in the market for a $10.000 Mac Pro. I've heard they "destroy" every other Mac on the market.

You weren't talking to me, but I feel compelled to respond. The rMB is fine for word processing and simple tasks, but nothing too intense. Which is actually why the MacBook Pro exists, so even Apple doesn't agree with you.

And benchmarking computers is fine. Comparing benchmarks or believing that they are representative of relative power is not strange or odd, nor does it mean you are only interested in a $10000 Mac Pro.

But, count me as one of the people that finds it funny that a tablet is more powerful than a laptop in Apple's lineup, mostly because I wanted an Apple version of the Surface Pro.

But hey, I'd also like to have a very powerful tablet. Because there is more to a product than simply how it looks, which seems to be your main criterion. It's capabilities, power, usefulness, stability, etc. are all very important as well.

To the OP:

Here's the thing; there will always be a new model around the corner.

While you're waiting for the newest rMBP, you are not enjoying one now.

The new rMBP will not be light years ahead of the current model, so go for it!

I do agree with you in the sense that yes there will always be a new model coming out eventually, so if you need a laptop now don't wait. However this is on the heels of a redesign, and not just some spec jump with marginally better processor upgrade. If you buy now and a new redesign is released with a near bezel less screen, increased resolution retina display, DDR4 ram etc. I know I would be a little pissed. If at all possible always try and hold out when a redesign is in the works, especially with Dell's infinity displays on the market. Apple may try and counter and, that would be epic on a MacBook Pro at least IMHO.

What's the chance of that happening? Are we sure it's going to be a redesign?

There is currently no indication of a redesign so as far as we know thats just wishful thinking, they haven't used DDR4 in the imacs and as all the benchmarks (and anandtechs excellent site) agree currently that DDR4 Ram makes no practical difference to the system i can't see apple bothering with it, the retina display is more than enough we in no way need 4K on a 13-15 inch screen (that'll just put pressure on the GPU needlessly) and the 4K phone sony released illustrates this well, it's still not the best screen and the pixel count is indistinguishable by eye from previous 1080p sony phones. A bezel less screen would be okay if they put a slightly bigger screen in to get this (14 inch??) but what with ports and keyboard and apples lovely huge trackpad the machine won't get a smaller footprint so this is unlikely too.

As a long time follower of Apple, I have seen over the years that more often than not what people expect to be included in a redesign typically never meets the expectations of most tech forums. In typical Apple fashion, expect an evolutionary update with a "tick" version of processor upgrade, possibly a newer dGPU, and maybe - JUST MAYBE - more default RAM or SSD. As far as a major body redesign, I guess that is always possible, but with no real "leaks" or other chatter going on, it's unlikely. If you can wait, sure why not wait. At the very least, if the upgrade isn't "all that", you can get this year's model at a nice discount, either as a refurb or leftover stock. Just don't get too disappointed if the refresh isn't all that, and start the waiting cycle all over again. You'll never buy if that is the case.

You do realise there are many classes of laptop chip don't you?? You have done some research yes? Not just seen the surafce book and said skylake is out???

The only ones currently on the market are the 15W ULV chips the skylake equivalent of the macbook air chips with fairly crappy graphics.

The Top end 28W chips with the GT3e graphics for the 13 inch rMBP and the 45W top end quad core with GT4 graphics scheduled for the 15 inch rMBP are not slated to be released until early next year.

The 5W Core M chips found in the macbook may be out before christmas.
YOU do realize that the sky lake i7's for laptops have been out since late September? The highest laptop CPUs as of right now based on sky lake are the 6700hq and 6820hk. So the chips are already out....

Neither of which have the better graphics with eDRAM cache that apple uses in their 15 inch rMBP's (and there is no sign of the 28W ones for the 13 inch pro's) so no the chips apple wants (ie the best ones) are not out. Just because you don't undersdtand the 28 different mobile chips that intel is releasing and their relevance in apples lineup doesn't mean you aren't talking from your bottom.

Better graphics? The 15's have dedicated graphics so what's the need for a better igpu? Sounds like you're speaking out of your *** as well.

I have the 15" and i feel really disappointed with the M370X throttling. Not worth $2500.

I'd argue that those who need buy. Those who don't wait to buy.

They only run on the discrete graphics when the extra horsepower is needed, otherwise the integrated GPU is used. Moving to a less capable integrated GPU would most likely have a negative impact on battery life.

Agreed they don't put great GPU's in them, but to them it's what's most cost efficient and biggest profit. There's also the issue of how thing they are and not the best cooling compared to other laptops in similar price ranges.
