I'm guessing its already been said but I'm voicing my opinion...

I don't want to hear Steve say "our Pro users love our glossy screens on our iMacs, so we've decided to add them as standard to the Macbook Pros."

:( very very disappointed

I love that new look. Definitely getting one!!!!! :) (On the assumption it's totally genuine)

Why is there a shadow In the leaked pic (towards the trackpad) if the light source is reflected in the screen? The shadow should be on the back of the screen if the lamp is in front and above the computer! Or am I wrong?!

I can't actually believe now one has the common sense to realise why it looks so "glossy".

you can quite clearly see both the screen and the case of the mac has a protective layer on it, like almost all electronics do when they're packaged. you can even see the reflections from the small imperfections in the protective cover on the screen.

seems alot of people are this forum are complete melodramatics and don't like to think logically, only the pure redicilous.

on another note i like it, can't wait for the actual release

yupe, was thinking the same. especially if the lightsource is above it?

Interesting observation. I can't quite figure that one out either. Also you can see quite a bit of the ceiling for the angle the display is at. We're probably clutching at straws here, but it does seem odd.

Also in the other photo, it's really overexposed to the point where you can't see the Apple logo and yet everything except the lid seems to be exposed normally? Hmmmmmmm.

I thought of that also, but it's quite clear that the screen is flat - which means something is in front - most likely glass. I've never seen a matte screen completely 100% flush with its bezel before ;) Unless it's a fairly firm sheet of protective plastic, which I've certainly seen taped to LCDs before. But again, given the fairly solid verifications we've had from decent sources that it's real I think we may be clutching at straws.

Well, I have a new iMac with a glossy screen. I used glossy screens for a long time until LCD came in to view. I thought I might be worried but as others say, adjusting the screen and chair and reflections are not a huge issue.

However, I can totally see this being an issue with a laptop where you might be typing/designing/etc. wherever and not easily position-able - out in public where lights are scattered everywhere.

People get used to things and then realize they like them even more than the version before it after a while - sometimes it takes a third version for me to like the second one. (like in cars).

Can't wait to see it. Just wish my hard drive had failed a wee bit later.

sometimes I wonder if apple them selves leak these images just to see how the buzz is 12 hours before...

everybody ready for "the glossest macbook pros ever"?
I also see Apple having three different macbooks only by keeping the white one around, for the sake of the ones loving and wanting white plastic..it could also keep the price point of 1099 if it's the present middle model, SD that is..or drop a couple hundred if it's the base model
We might also see a matte option for the pros in a few months with updated 17",no?This period of the year is for consumers...January is for pros, updated MBAs in Jan as well

I disagree, most IT departments are now ordering all the stuff they have left on the budget for this year.

I just meant I would understand Apple's strategy..All I know is they shouldn't update everything at once, I hate bad quality control, and hopefully they have been prepping for this for the last 2 years, ever since the first rumors about aluminum macbooks, it would be strange but I guess they had their projects ready before the collaboration with Nvidia
PS do IT departments care that much about glossy/matte options? real pros usually use a few external displays anyway,no?

Everyone else has said it, I don't see how the trackpad will be very useful without a physical button. I love the feed back of a button and actually noticed a big difference in the macbook pro button compared to the macbook button feel wise. The macbook button was harder to press and did not always click when I thought it did. I also like to feel the edge of the button so I know by thumb in on it.

January is going to be Snow Leopard and minor speed bumps. I dont know why everyone thinks its going to be another laptop release with more changes. Its 3 months away, they dont change their laptops so dramatically, that quickly.

they are releasing pro models today, ie, macbook "pro".

btw, im getting the **** out of one.

I wasn't saying 15" MBPs would see a change in Jan, I was saying there could be some additions, just like when the first 17" MBP was announced, a few months after the 15" one..
oh,and no speed bumps in Jan..not until April/May
and if people really cared that much about the Matte option, they could buy and mount the coating or change the display themselves

I was thinking about the power button. It could be somewhere else. Myself, I don't use the power button unless the mbp locks up and I have to hold it down to force a reboot. Other than that I just close the lid.

haha

this is sooo fake. cant you see it??

the left and right sides of the screen are about 5mm different in size and the top edge has an angle on it...

surely apples manufacturing process isnt getting this bad? :))

its bull.

there's no way apple would release a pro machine with only gloss screens. not a chance in hell

I am SO not reading all 30 pages of people complaining about glossy screens, so I'll just ask, even if its already been asked numerous times before:

Does anyone see the Apple logo in the second pic? Shouldn't it be slightly visible in the corner?
