The reason she was CERTAIN of the aluminum cases was because in one of Jobs' speeches, he said they were phasing out PVC due to its "not-green" image. The case type is guaranteed.

Maybe there will still be Black MacBooks but this time they will be black-coloured Aluminium?

This is possible. I mentioned last night that if Jobs were to anodize the cases that they could be any color you wanted. They would also hold up better(ie scratches).

Scratches or dents … Which to choose  <––– "pondering" expression.

I would rather take scratches. Dents are not nice. :)

It's a choice, though.
Having to be careful about dents that might inflict damage to what's on the other side of the dent is no fun.
As is choosing between discolouration (of the ib.. er, Macbook and the pitting on the cheap anodising).
I would prefer neither, though, hence I will be buying something sturdier next time around.

Do you think Apple will make sturdier Aluminium MacBooks Pros/MacBooks this time?

I don't know. But by going by what they have been put out these recent years, and their constantly growing focus on pop culture consumers, I'd venture a guess and say no.
I'll be happily surprised if I'm wrong, though.

well, although it's possible, I don't think it's at the top of their to-do list...unless like every MBP owner were to start complaining about it...

Yes, they do not want to make current MacBook Pro owners jealous/more jealous (depends how much better the new MacBook Pros are on everything else).

Haha, yup! That's exactly what's close to Steve Job's heart. The thing he cares mostly about :p

He just wants money and he is a greedy but smart person.

apple is paying him $1 a year. (yes he makes money doing other things). For whatever reason he is at apple, its not money. I think he honestly loves releasing these products. I always see a boyish glow around him in the way hes so excited about whatever hes selling during his keynotes.

He was in the Guinness Book of World Records for that. (Lowest paid CEO). But I am sure he is more than comfortable with his Apple stock options, Pixar, Disney, and the Blu-ray Board lol :D

Umm..... Forbes in 2008 listed Steve Jobs as having a $5.8 BILLION net worth.

That is billion with a B.

Do you know a millionaire? Steve jobs is 5,800 times richer than a millionaire.

It is all smoke and mirrors. Steve Jobs may have been in the Guinness Book for his $1 salary, but he was also in Forbes as the HIGHEST PAID CEO in the US in 2006, because he made $647 million in stock options.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.... but don't fall for the marketing- something Jobs is a master of.

we all know hes rich, but its from things other than a salary from apple.

funtip: Steve wozniak still collects a paycheck from apple.

What's so upsetting about Apples "Thin" trend is that they aren't doing it because it benefits the notebook. The Air weighs 3 lbs!!! With something like the name "Air" I would hope that it was literally light. It's not and I find it disturbing people put it in the ultraportable category. It's far from that. They do this "thin" thing just because it looks pretty.

While the new mbs and new mbps will sport a thinner look they will be heavy or heavier. How is that suppose to benefit anyone?

The Air is light. Even eight months after release, it's still one of the top 2-3 lightest 13 inch laptops. I briefly had a 10 inch netbook, and MUCH prefer using the Air because of the 70% larger screen area and un-cramped keyboard. Plus 13 inchers allow you to put two documents side by side, which is indispensable for my student-related research stuff.

Also, I don't find using thin designs for aesthetic purposes to be disturbing. I find it...nice to look at! Maybe not optimal for power-users, but great for non-gaming students or basic business users. And the lighter design is good for me, because I've got two surgically repaired shoulders. But then again, I don't own an Air because it's too expensive, so hopefully the new Macbook will shed some poundage while maintaining a reasonable price.

Yes, I know. I was just saying that his paycheck from Apple is $1.

Of course it is one of the lightest FULL SIZED laptop but ultraportable it is not. I usually think of ultraportables as laptops 11" or less and 3lbs & under.

I do find the thin design just for aesthetic purposes to be disturbing. The new mb and mbp may suffer from heat issues because of this. As well as losing some ports and may lose the optical. Although I have no problem with the loss of optical a lot of people are going to be upset about that. And the mb and mbp will probably be just as heavy except now it will be thinner.

well theres your problem:p

There is no actual standard for "ultraportable". Id think 3 pounds is deffinatly ultraportable in my book.

and can we not speculate about how the future design is going to be bad somehow?

Indeed 3 pounds is I fixed my post btw. But 13" is def not ultraportable that is full sized.
