I bought one since my computer needs have been increasing due to school and work (comp sci in both areas). Been pushing the limits with my MBA and got a specced out 13" with touch bar... Don't regret it one bit!

And so the absolute disgraceful launch tactics of Apple continue. Produce minimum stock, announce, delay delivery by 2 weeks on the first day and build up demand.

Happens with every single product they have launched since Angela started.

It apparently seems to work, except to completely piss off all the customers who didn't manage to order within the first hour..... Well done Apple.

Just another fine reason to lose more customers. it is amazing.
 Sure. Apple is deliberately holding back supply during the most important shopping season of the year to make it look like demand is bigger than it really is.

Angela Ahrendts doesn't control the supply chain. If this is like the iPhone 7 the initial launch will be tight but supply will ramp up fairly quickly. I'm sure they want to have lots of December sales.

My MacBook was stolen 2 weeks ago, (apart from the fact 'find my phone' hasn't popped up showing me where it is)... My Insurance replaced with latest 2015 model.. I was thinking about selling this and upgrading to the latest with the touch bar but $700 price hike in Australia is ridiculous. Why would I upgrade? The old model was over priced @$3500 now $4249 for a laptop... Your off the planet Apple...

Ridiculous. It's the same direction that they've always been heading. The current strategy and vision is classic Apple, and there have always been plenty of people who identify with it, and purchase the products.

Reality check: The current strategy and vision is classic Apple, and there have always been plenty of people who after looking at the range of laptops in the market (considering features, specs, and support), conclude Apple offers the best value, and purchase the products.

I am not going to read much into this.. I would rather wait for the upcoming reports for sales numbers...

Seems to be about the same price as a Microsoft Surface Book with a similar processor and memory, so I don't really think the price is out of line. Apple has never been know as being the budget priced machine.

I was really hoping folks would protest the direction Apple is heading with their wallets but it doesn't seem that's happening yet.

That's the true tragedy in all this. Apple can take all the ports away, make the keyboard crappier, increase the price, and the iSheep will still fork over their wallet and say "thank you sir, may I have another?" If you give money to Apple you're also telling them you support the direction they are heading. Well I'm saying 'no' this time around and I encourage others to do the same.

I love when people on this site complain about a new apple product they've never used - They're usually proven wrong. iPhone 7, for example, people here were saying - apple can't innovate - its boring. Well its selling like hotcakes and personally my Jet Black 7 + is the most gorgeous phone i've owned and i find it amazing! I'm sure when people get to demo these new MacBooks they'll find the touch bar amazing and extremely useful.

if you like camera bumps / warts the iPhone 7 design is perfect !

Instead of complaining why don't you put your money where your mouth is and buy competing products?

I was making a tongue-in-cheek joke about people complaining. I for one am very happy about the new MacBook Pro, in fact, happy enough that I just purchased one.

I love Apple as much as the next guy, but seriously, the price gouging and port removal are too much.

Also, they look to have completely abandoned the Pro market by forgoing a Mac Pro update, and they removed a bunch of ports from this computer. It'll be good, no doubt, but this is mildly frustrating to many Apple fans.

AU$4,249.00 for a mobile workstation that seems less than my 2014 model that I got for AU$2,879.00 is just preposterous (15-inch/i7/16GB/512GB).

It still has the less than desirable 2880x1800 resolution with no 'High-Res' option. The screen not being 3360x2100 2-3 years ago was confusing, let alone now and at that price point.

It's going to be adaptors galore for the next 2-3 years, I would have expected at least a mix of Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.0 ports.

And no SD-card reader? Really!?

Apple seems to be forgetting about it's large creative user base, especially the many many Photographers that rely on the Macbook Pro as a mobile workstation on the go.

First it was the iPhone 7, now this. I think it's time to seriously consider transitioning from the Apple eco system.

Apple just isn't cool anymore.

I didn't order one but a few guys at work did.

I'm not sure what to do given how invested I was in all the TB adapters I have and the 2 TB displays I have. Maybe I'll grab a 2015.

The new MacBook Pro has only been available for purchase for about six hours, but shipping estimates on the machine have already slipped from two to three weeks to three to four weeks, meaning orders placed now won't deliver until late November or early December (November 25 to December 2).

Three to four week shipping estimates apply to all MacBook Pro models that have a Touch Bar and Touch ID support. At launch, those machines had shipping estimates of two to three weeks and delivery windows from November 17 to November 25. Supplies are likely to continue to dwindle as people place orders for the updated MacBook Pro models.

The new entry-level MacBook Pro without a Touch Bar continues to be available for delivery as soon as October 31 using the fastest shipping method. Apple Store pickup is not yet available for any of the MacBook Pro options, but the standard MacBook Pro should be in stores soon.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with no Touch Bar is priced at $1,499, while 13-inch Touch Bar models start at $1,799. 15-inch models, which all include a Touch Bar, start at $2,399.

Apple is also continuing to sell 2015 MacBook Pro models, which are available at prices starting at $1,299.

[doublepost=1477616767][/doublepost]I hopped on the store right after the presentation. Mine's coming in 2-3 weeks still...I hope.

Got mine!
Me too! I acted quickly!

I was really hoping folks would protest the direction Apple is heading with their wallets but it doesn't seem that's happening yet.
It does make you wonder if all the people complaining about it here are just a small group of extremely vocal critics who just love to whine about Apple's every move, day in and day out, but aren't representative of the needs and wants of Apple's user base in general.

It's pretty hypocritical to criticize people for complaining about something they've never used and then be 'sure' that it will be 'amazing and extremely useful'; also without using it.
