Have you tried Windows lately? As far as reinventing the wheel, do you realize Apple is releasing products that are a generation or more behind in technology, yet are charging up to twice as much as the competition for lesser hardware that you can't upgrade?

There's clearly a market for bleeding edge computing with costs cut else where. Yet, I bet the MBP benchmarks are pretty competitive.

DDR3 really? Is that not a typo? Is there a technical reason or have Apple just access to a cheap supply? I didn't think you could even get DDR3 at those speeds?

Skylake has backwards compatibility with DDR3. RAM speeds get really high, like silly high. Look it up. DDR3 surplus is in play at the moment. Apple can secure a contract for DDR3 chips and have it binding, so if the price goes up, their supplier has to give it to them on the agreed amount per shipment. DDR4 is newer, more expensive and currently newer smartphones are making use of DDR4 and driving up cost.

Ridiculous. It's the same direction that they've always been heading. The current strategy and vision is classic Apple, and there have always been plenty of people who identify with it, and purchase the products.
Their products sell at a premium for a reason....ease of use, great design, easily accessible support. Everyone wishes the products were cheaper, but if the $$ are an option, go with a low end model or heaven forbid a windows machine. Just like the iPhone, these will sell and sell big time - people are willing to pay the premium - as long as you get something for that premium.

Are you guys really that naive? This is exactly what Apple wants. They create the image that there's a huge rush on their products, despite the fact that their sale numbers of literally any product in their pipeline are shrinking rapidly. They want you to have the feeling to miss out on something if you don't order one NOW. This also has a lot to do with the image they want to show to their shareholders. They also want to distract from their completely unreasonable price policy by generating the image that they cannot meet their delivery demands.
20$ that we'll read about news that "new macbook pro delivers earlier than estimated" in a few weeks.

Actually, "in a few weeks" would be right on their estimated time.

It will be a great computer. It's a laptop. Apple isn't going to reinvent the wheel every 3 years on these. And laptop specsheet wars are meaningless in today's market. Plus, operating systems are priced in these days. It's never truly "free." Windows is hot garbage. Prices will be slashed all over the place by mid-cycle. Apple Stores actually match those deals, too.

I'll reserve decision on "good faith" pricing after teardowns are live.

I need to buy my 2 kids (13 and 14) new laptops...my oldest kid (16) has a 2015 13" MBP with an I7 and 16gb and all 3 kids share a 2015 27" 5K Imac. I want to buy the new touchbar models announced yesterday (thinking the base specs with I5 processor but with 16gb). As for your comment on slashing process by "mid-cycle", I'm not very informed about the pricing cycles. Can you - or anyone tell me when is 'typically' the best time to buy? These 2 new laptops are not Christmas presents but rather just gifts for them to use for school. I mentioned the laptop I bought for my daughter (LY) in hopes that some may comment as to if I should consider duplicating that purchase...It looks as if I can purchase (refurb) 2015 models of the 16gb I7 2015 MBP for the same price as the 16gb I5 2016 touchbar models...in fact I can purchase the base model 15" 2015 MBP for the same price as well). Thanks.

You clearly have zero understanding of how a company, shareholders, board members, and distribution chain works and have instead bought into an inane conspiracy theory. Do you understand if supply does not meet demand that shareholders and board members will beat up the officers as to why that is the case? Do you understand that when supply does not meed demand that actually equates to lost sales? Do you understand that Apple has never stated that they have been sold out (to create artificial demand?) Do you understand that they usually deliver pretty close to their estimated delivery dates, but it's always better to under-promise and deliver early than over-promise and deliver late? The answer is obviously no to all of those questions.

Pros
4GB VRam
Faster Ports
new design brighter display
new keyboard butterfly 2.0
new speakers
I really like the much bigger touch pad
Faster hard drive

Cons
No 32GB Ram capability
(this for me it´s crucial, and for the price, they should give us all the ram)
No 4K Display (HP and Lenovo offers 4k displays in their mobile workstations)
No Magsafe (This was like a signature on the Mac laptops)
Adaptors for everything

If Apple thinks that putting 32GB ram would make the iMac or the Mac Pro look less desirable, just increase the iMac and Mac Pro capabilities.

Give us the 32 GB option And the machine will be a best seller.

Itemize your list. I'm having a hard time believing you. I have both a retina MBP and the new Retina MacBook with only one port.

$50 for USB-C to Thunderbolt 2
$20 for USB-C to USB
$25 for USB-C to Lightning
$70 for USB-C to HDMI

X 3 for my three locations. And no, I don't want to buy a single set and drag them around with me.

so many rich people :p
You would be rich if you are true Apple lover & believer 15 years ago and bought 2 thousand AAPL shares back then. Now the dividend alone can buy you all new shiny Apple products and around world business class trip.

you are both right. Of course apple knew that after 4 years of neglecting a line there would be a huge demand but it's always good showing there is a backlog anyway regardless of demand.

regarding shareholder beating up the CEO, you are right that's how it SHOULD be in a regular company.

In the case of apple it hasn't been like this.

The mac division has been poorly run and completely abandoned but no repercussion on Tim Crook has been seen so far, sadly.

Specs are the means, user experience is the end.

The primary reason why I invest in Apple products is because while they may cost more upfront, I find that they more than pay for themselves in the form of greater productivity and fewer problems overall.

It doesn't matter if the competition uses the latest hardware if they aren't able to put them together into a cohesive package which appeals to me. And the latest offerings by Microsoft simply don't resonate with me, much as I will agree that they appear to be engineering marvels.

Why would there be repercussions?

Shareholders are concerned about profit first and foremost. And you cannot deny that Apple has grown immensely in the past few years despite having evidently neglected the Mac, or perhaps, precisely because they chose to focus on iOS over the Mac.

People keep posting that things would be different, if Steve Jobs was still alive. How different and can you be assured of that. Also, he was an innovator, but he has passed and we need to move on. If people no longer like Apple products, there are other options as many people have posted. Why keep coming here to trash talk Apple. No company is perfect, just like people.

Steve Jobs wasn't an innovator. He didn't invent squat. What he did do was perfect many other peoples inventions and was one of the greatest marketers ever. But he wasn't an innovator.

Well I did Windows 10 is terrible mess of a smartphone OS crammed into everything from phone to full sized desktops. It's primary reason I'm now on mac instead.

I only kept Windows for my gaming rig because Apple doesn't take that market seriously.

There is nothing particularly wrong with Windows 10 UI.

of course Steve Jobs was an innovator and genius. He would have sent this garbage back to Jony and tell him what to do right. Jony left alone is a foul. Timmy left alone has destroyed Apple.

I said he was an innovator because that is how people portray him on here as. If he was the end all, Apple would have died, when he first left Apple. They survived. He came back, Apple continued. He hired Tim, and picked him as his successor. He must have seen something in Tim, or he wasn't such an innovative thinker. The sad thing is he didn't look after his health and died. Now people spend time lamenting about how things are going without him and making statements that if he was still alive, things would have been better, but no one really knows that. Perhaps Apple is doomed, as so many keep posting but perhaps not. If you don't like Apple, buy the brand you do.

How do you know that. Everyone seems to think he was hands on with everything. I don't see how that would have been possible.

Was That not Windows 8? Are you sure you used Windows 10? I don't see a fundamental issue with its UI, it's very well designed for Windows users , going back to its roots

Apple never has sufficient inventory of anything anymore. You don't "order" today, you "back order" today. Horrible. Tim was a logistics guy and he certaintly sucks at it.
I have waited 4-6 weeks easily for iPhone 6+, iPhone 7+, iPads, Apple Watch, everything I've purchased the last 3-4 years have had weeks worth of wait. Maybe this is a game for them.

Now he's a marketing guy. Winding up customers to help drum up interest.

Since people with wallets need encouragement and subtle manipulation to be helped along.
