i ended up going with a black colcasac from applesac. international shipping was what made me pull the trigger

i hope i dont regret it

Ok, given that a MBP would mostly stay at home, yet sometimes it would be carried around, maybe even on the plane etc., what sleeve would you recommend me to buy?

I wouldn't exactly want to go for the official Apple one because they want $34 for it.

Where is the official Apple sleeve youre talking about?

I'll make the recommendation I always do. I've had one of these for several years for my 12" Powerbook and it looks like new. I got one with a flap for my GlassBook and its awesome too.

I also recommend this. I didn't add the flap, as shown above. When I take it to the airport, I ditch the Cozmo bag and attach the shoulder strap to the sleeve (you can have d rings added).
Last time I went flying (October), I had to take my MBP out of the sleeve. It was very easy to pull my computer out and place it in the bin. With the new rules, you may not even have to worry about that anymore. But it's good to know it's not cumbersome to get your computer out, imo.

Best of luck.

Any hard sleeves out there?

My parents have the Axio Hardsleeve for their white MacBook which is excellent (cannot use the MB in the case though - it overheats) - but I got a reply from a shop in europe that sells Axio products saying a new version for the unibody MBP will be available summer 2009. Shame, because I can't wait that long.

I had the Booq Vyper for my white MacBook which is good but not quite as solid as the Axio Hardsleeve. Still, I was quite happy with it, so that's probably what I'll end up getting for my new unibody MacBook Pro. It's not exactly a hard sleeve, semi-hard I guess.

i just got my applesac this morning. it looks nice, but the sherpa fleece doesnt feel soft and actually feels like it could potentially scratch the computer.

aside from that, along the long axis of the case, where the burlap seam is, the material was folded over, inside the case with a lot of rouch stitching that surely feels it could scratch the thin sides of the mbp.

i think i will look for something super thin and soft that i can slip the mbp in before putting it insie this case.

hmm, not too happy.

Help in identifying sleeve

A while ago I bought a sleeve / screen protector that slipped over the screen. The design is great but it is getting old and wearing out. I can't find the manufacturer, anyone seen anything like this? Thanks!

Help identifying this sleeve

I'm looking for the original maker of the sleeve pictured above. I'm pretty sure it isn't apple sac.

Help identify this sleeve

The incase sleeves are nice but I'm talking about one that goes over the screen. The design protects the screen and the top. Anyone see anything like this? Please see photo a few posts above.

If my source is accurate, Crumpler will have new, resized 15" unibody Gimp sleeves in stores (Europe) within two week's time.

InCase neoprene

I got the InCase neoprene sleeve for my 15" classic MBP. I like it, but wish it had a handle. Also, the fit is not optimal - about an inch at the top more than necessary, which I use to grab it, due to the lack of a handle or strap. It could also use a small compartment for the AC adapter. Anyway, it's a good one, but not optimal.

I originally bought 2 for the two macbook airs that I had. Overall they are as advertised but in the case of the Air I'd say that the Incase neoprene sleeve is a better choice today. Overall I'd say if you're looking for extra protection I'd go with something else. I went with Waterfield sleeve for my Unibody MacBook Pro.

Has anyone here (in the UK or otherwise) bought a sleeve from these guys:

If you have, what are they like?

Don't have much to compare it with though, never had a mac or a sleeve case before. I like the look of the booq vyper M3, but couldn't wait - ordered this before Xmas, but it took a while to arrive (probably Xmas rush orders as there were few specific Unibody sleeves around in December).

Quality is okay. Not much protection, but as another poster says, a sleeve is scratch protection - not drop protection!

The materials are good and the pillowcase design better than I expected. I thought it might be weird, but having no zips when you put it in a case with other products is handy.

Overall good value if you live in UK and postage costs aren't an issue. It has a handmade feel much as I'd expect an applesac to have, but its British so is obviously more stylish and just 'better' ;O)

That looks very similar to my RadTech sleeve I mentioned in an earlier post.

Hey guy's, I used teh search to find this thread as I am in the market for a sleeve. I am split between the Second Skin and the Taipan skin. I think the Seconf Skin looks the best, but what do you guy's think?
It's for the new Unibody 15.4" Mac Book Pro. Is there a new Second Skin model for the new MB Pro?

I feel the same way... I went to the apple store looking for the Second Skin, but they don't have them in the store, just on the apple site. I was kind of disappointed since I wanted to see fitment in person...
