I have recently bought the aforementioned sfbags sleeve. Am very impressed: high quality materials, well constructed and good fit. Plus the service was excellent.

i got the incase sleeve and love it. Keeps my computer clean. May not protect it compare to hard shells but its in my bag anyways.

I bought one case and didn't care for it at all (it had a 1" gap at the width!) anyhow, i also purchased a pink inCase neoprene one from the Apple store and i love it!
Fits like a glove and really comparable to the Tucano Second Skin that i had with my PB 12" that was so awesome!
I'd recommend the inCases to anyone!

Anyone buy the Taipan Skin M for a unibody MBP? Does it fit?

I've been waiting for incase to come out with a case that will fit the new MBPs but I think I'm going to give up on waiting since it's been 2+ months with no news.

I'll make the recommendation I always do. I've had one of these for several years for my 12" Powerbook and it looks like new. I got one with a flap for my GlassBook and its awesome too.

This is the one I have - simply delicious...

Hmm, may be the route to go, looking at the specs on Apples site for the second skin's, they don't fit the new MB Pro's. But I like them? Does anyone know for sure if they fit the new Unibody Pro's or not?

Ok, given that a MBP would mostly stay at home, yet sometimes it would be carried around, maybe even on the plane etc., what sleeve would you recommend me to buy?

I wouldn't exactly want to go for the official Apple one because they want $34 for it.

Something like this? Or this?

Even if the bag looks great, what happened the to adapter? Anyone knows a bag designed to hold the mbp and it's adapter nicely in one package?

Incase zipper issue

Has anyone had an issue with the zipper on the Incase sleeve making contact with the side of the unibody MBP when slipping it in or out? I had an incase for my Macbook that didn't have that issue, but the one I just bought for my MBP seems to let the zippers rub on the sides when putting it in or taking it out..

Does anyone remember the this grey looking wool sleeve with a leather tab (I think it was orange-ish?) sleeve for the Unibody MBP? It was made in Europe somewhere and I thought I saved the information but now can't seem to find it. Thanks!

just want to second what lifelikeweeds wrote.

i purchased an incase nylon sleeve on sale (this model, but black):

http://goincase.com/products/detail/15-nylon-sleeve-cl57046

used it for 2 days and it produced 2 big scratches on my lid. if you want to see the photo just look up the last thread i started. even contacted incase but they have been less than helpful so f them.

i suspect that it was the zipper or something inside (though not sure what). regardless i just ordered the vyper M2 from booq directly. specifically because the zipper goes entirely around the MBP. i will never again buy a sleeve that requires you to slide in and out the laptop.

here is the booq i'm expecting shortly. i have the penryn MBP so it's $20 cheaper now than the upcoming unibody version.

Considering getting the Taipan XL and a Boa Slimcase XL90 from booq bags for my new 17" unibody MBP that's arriving soon.

Anyone here have any opinions on these particular products or booq bags as a whole? I'm particularly wondering whether the zipper on the Taipan sleeve will scratch the edges of my MBP every time I open or close it. I'd use the sleeve whenever I take my MBP for short trips and the bag to hold at most my laptop, the charger, a Seagate FreeAgent Xtreme and it's power plug.

I second this recommendation. I got the one with the flap and also got the shoulder strap and piggyback.

I left the MacbookPro (late 08) in the sleeve going through TSA with no problems.

What size did you order? It's kind of confusing with all the size options they give.

xilni,

i'll update you once i receive my booq bag in a few days. my initial thoughts though are that you should be fine using that sleeve for your MBP. usually zipper scratches only come into play if you need to slide the laptop in and out from one end only (like i sadly did with my incase sleeve). the booq sleeve zippers entirely around the laptop, which is much better, and i seriously doubt it would scratch up or even touch your mbp. if it did everyone would return them.

as for the bag you linked, this is just my opinion, but i decided against getting a booq bag because i don't trust the minimal protection it will have without a sleeve tightly wrapped around it first. i could be wrong on this one because lots of people own the booq bags on this forum, but just as a gut reaction i would not want to put my MBP into a bag that has a slot for it vs. full on protection. just something to think about. i'll update you on my booq sleeve when i get it.

Looking forward to it.I was looking at the dimensions and it seems I should be able to fit the sleeve in the bag so that the bag is still protected when I take it out, say when I have to go through airport security.

I had the same problem with the incase sleeve. I wanted to replace it with something that had no zippers, and that had a better fit. I found this Case Logic Sleeve. http://www.caselogic.com/15_reversible_macbook_pro_sleeve/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=101939#

Fits like an absolute glove, really really recommend it.

It's about time! Crumpler is FINALLY advertising 15"W Gimp sleeves for the Unibody!

However, the website says they're out of stock!

The dimensions of the Gimp Special Edition look good too. I'm waiting awhile longer for a Sir Gimp that fits Unibody MBPs.

After a lot of reading and trips to the apple store... I finally placed an order for a Booq Vyper M3 sleeve. I hope it ships soon since I'm tired of using a pillow case as a sleeve...!!! hahahaaa... It works though.

I've been using my gf's t-shirt--LOL. :D

More Sleeves ---- Hand Made in Germany

Hi Folks,

I'm new here and I would like to start over with a hint for some cool hand made MacBook / Pro Sleeves which a friend of mine is producing by herself.
She just has a few different sleeves yet, but she's working on it. ;)

Here are some expamples:

These are all MBP sleeves, but for sure she can do such stuff also for all other MacBooks and Notebooks.
She also will try to handle "special whishes" as far as it is possible...for example she can also add a sleeve for a iPhone on top of the Notebook sleeve....or what ever... :)

If you have questions just ask her, here is were you can find it:
http://ninjani.de/shop/notebookcover-c-7.html

And as far as I know, you can pay with Paypal if want...just get in touch.

May you can post your comments here if ordered one.

Thanks,
Akilah

I'm using a Taipan sleeve for my MBP, and it's a beautifully snug fit. Excellent construction, perfect fit, safe and sturdy zippers -- I'm pleased.

Aesthetically I like the 2nd one more.
