So if you swap the superdrive for a SSD, you'd then end up with a notebook with three (!) disks: one small SSD for the system, the default classic HDD and then another SSD in the superdrive-bay?

I can only imagine the chaos in the Finder. That doesn't sound like Apple at all.

All of these things are good.

If you're one of the "this sucks, I'm buying a PC" people, then buh-bye.

This is a really good day for MacRumors. I like what I'm seeing.

And a specked out vaio Z is nearly $2000, what was your point again?

That if someone like Sony can manage 1920x1080 on a 13" screen, why can't Apple? And I didn't say anything about price, just screen resolution.

And also, a MBP with the same specs as the $1,999 Vaio is $2,199.

Your point again?

Awesome!!
At dinner with colleagues but can't resist refreshing MR every minute lol.

No more white MacBook?

Does that mean entry level Aluminum MacBook will now be $1099?

they tried killing the plastic MacBook once before. Didn't work out too well, so they might be doing something different this time.

i hope these rumors come true! there are so many today! and the press event would be perfect for the "cherry on top" aha

I dont have an external tho! Oh well, ive only had it for a week im sure i can get everything back on this one... Do you think i could return it thursday or should i do it before then so theyre not like wtf?

Go to the Apple Store, and just buy a cheap external hardrive from there, The apple geniuses will help you back up your computer, and they will update your computer for you. External Hardrives are pretty cheap now anyways, like maybe 80 bucks minimum... I doubt you have THAT much stuff on your computer if its only a week old...

According to the French article the 13" would have a 16GB SSD for system files and a 320GB HDD with a BTO option for either a 500GB HDD or 256GB SSD. It seems to indicate the 15" would have a 16GB SSD and a 320 or 500GB HDD plus a BTO option for an additional SSD in place of the optical drive. So up to 3 drives in the 15" then.

Such detailed specs but no mention of the graphics card? That's disappointing.

I'd also think that they'd update the mini at this time too as it and the 13" models share similar specs.

They are both great laptops, but 200 dollars is not a small difference. Also, apple laptops have way higher resale values in the future than any other laptops in the market.

Also, apple laptops are way thinner and lighter than others.

This would be the shizz. I really don't need a new notebook, but the more I read the speculations, the more I want a new machine.

That seems unlikely.

that just sounds stupid to me...not too happy about these rumors

That's a pretty lousy res on the 13".

Sony Vaio Z can manage 1920x1080 on their 13inch model.

Not trying to to flame, just thought screen tech was one of Apples prides.

Starting at $1999.

And 1440 x 900 is hardly a lousy resolution for a 13" laptop and it's an upgrade from the 1280 x 800 resolution of the current MBP. Screen tech is one of Apple's prides but spec matching isn't. Not all 1440 x 900 screens are made alike.

Take that 15" screen, slap iMac design around it, trim off the fancy tech, sell it for $899.

It's possible the OS host drive won't even be visible to the user by default. Also, you can configure a Mac Pro with up to 4 drives. Not strange for apple at all.
