I'm predicting that Apple will provide yet another dongle because the MDP/ThunderBolt hybrid port will support both at the same time. Then you won't have to choose between display and I/O.

Tell me what model laptop. A claim like that with no information on model is BS.

I am an employee at Best Buy and we do in fact sell Sandy Bridge laptops with HD3000 GPUs. You could buy them on newegg and Best Buy and many other places. Samsung makes at least 2 of them.

not really. the air is _much_ slower than a macbook pro with core i5.

I never said that the Core 2 Duo was faster than the Core i5. What I'm saying is that with Lion, we Core 2 Duo MacBook Air users might get a faster experience than we do on Snow Leopard.

Leap backwards....no base SSD, devolution in GPU (Intel SB IGP sucks for anything but YouTube/Hulu), still has ODD, doesnt look thinner, 1280x800 @ 13inches (Seriously,WTF) . LAME APPLE, LAME.

Are you trolling? You may as well just buy the macbook air as that seems to be what you want here, with the SSD, thinness and no ODD atleast.

good find guys! it does look a bit different, some sort of grainulated alloy?

if i take a picture of my current MBP in bad lighting it looks just like that. i just tested it

Then post it.

I don't understand this sentence then...
"This article covers the performance of the HD Graphics 3000 inside the Intel Core i7-2720QM CPU"
"Concerning the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000, you should keep in mind that it is - depending on the CPU - differently clocked. While the tested i7-2720QM CPU clocks the graphics chip at 650 up to 1300 MHz, the clock rate of the GPU only ranges from 650-1200 MHz in the i7-2635QM or from 650-1100 MHz in the i7-2630QM. In ULV processors the clock rate is even lower at 350-900 MHz. So, the performance drops accordingly."

Here is the link explaining how with the Sandy Bridge, the HD3000 is finally integrated into the CPU. Beforehand, integrated graphics were always built onto the motherboard of computers and were on a seperate die from the actual cpu. The Sandy Bridge is the first to actually feature on die cpu/gpu combination.

I further predict it will sell for $29. :)

People are getting all worked up about Thunderbolt. Remember, it's an addition. In addition to being able to drive a display, it will be able to connect to high speed peripherals. That's a good thing.

What material is this?

Liquidmetal!! :D

Doesn't look aluminum, though, does it?

u have a MBA just test it urself. edit: i just noticed that the color seems to be black..ish inside the slots unlike the current ones

thank you for this post. if thats true i will just keep my 3 week old MBP LOL. the most graphic intensive task i do i photoshop and occasional movie editing and its fine with that already.
lol. photoshop and movie editin don't use the graphic card very lot. the new corei5 with turbo boost and hyper threading would be the better option.

Crappy graphics here we go again. An 1200 eur notebook with intel graphics? Are they nuts?
no. it is the onliest possibility to use a core-i cpu and not a core 2 duo. and the hd3000 isn't only an chipset, it is a graphic-core in the cpu and it is not so fast as you think.

Let's face it people: Apple is getting lazy.
Their motto is: do not change a winning formula.

The only new designs lately are the iPods and iPhone 4, all the other stuff have been making baby steps.

More and more people are getting tired of the small steps and are expecting more from iOS and Hardware design.

I must say; I tend to agree.

Images are definitely legit. You can even see that the logo they've made for Thunderbolt matches the new iTunes and App store icons with the blue circle.

Also I'm very confident that there is a design change here. Compare the thickness of the upper lid of the leaked photo with the current generation MacBook Pro. It's thinner, similar in style to the MacBook Air:

i'm with liquidmetal, too...
(the comparison below is a bit overdriven, but anybody else noticed the plastic components inside the ports and the icons got darker? i'm not so sure aboute the case, looks slightly darker too...)

I am actually excited about the i5 in the low end 13. Once I put an ssd in that thing....it will be almost perfect. I do wish it had better resolution.

Lol the ignorance of some of the people whining about stuff they don't even understand is hilarious. Impressive bump from apple I'm excited to see the specs on the 15" and 17" and how their going to implement lightpeak into other devices.

Totally agree with this. The CPU is an extremely good upgrade from previous 13" MBPs. Don't let the clockrate fool you, it's better than the 2.66C2D. The resolution is the same, which is a bummer, but it's not a downgrade. Hi-res video cam, I only assume the battery life is even better with SB. And if the rumors are true, a $100 price drop to $1099 would be terrific. Just last week plenty of people were willing to pay the $1199 for the C2D models, now we're complaining about a better laptop today?
The integrated graphics is about on par, probably less but again, this is why I'm most likely opting for the 15" now. If you have more needs, of course upgrade. We still don't know what the higher end 13" will offer as well as the 15" is what I'm really looking forward to.

Re the icon looking like the elec symbol. Doesn't Light Peak need to carry a current to power external kit? Maybe the icon is entirely apt because it is carrying current? Possible?

If both are true, I'm regretting waiting for the new Macbooks when I could have gotten a great Windows laptop for $600 just a short time ago.

PAY ATTENTION. These integrated graphics cards are a lot more powerful than anything integrated we've seen before. They are somewhat comparable to the macbook pro and air's 320m and 330m GPUs. And to the one mentioning no-built in SSD, first, these leaks are rumors until confirmed. You only heard of the SSD rumors within the last week and you loved it, so when a leak tells you it doesn't have it you rage. Relax. Even if it doesn't have it it's still a good product.
