Again, it is believable if you consider this leak to be the $999-replacement of the white Macbook. If it's supposed to be the $999-entry level MBP, it's a huge rip-off.
What's the difference as long as it's $999?

Liquid Metal was not at all expected, only people asking for it. But not for Blu-Ray and USB 3.0. I don't know how 1200$ looks entry-level for you. And for a computer thats supposed to be 'Pro' it should be there.
When you look closer, it looks like the photo has been "cut" diagonally through the left USB-port... Maybe fake?

$1000+ for this crap?
No wonder Apple has been stuck at ~10% market share for so long. Given the inferior computers the keep putting out, they shouldn't expect a big jump in those numbers.
I heard from somewhere that the MBA panels are not as high-quality as the one used in MBPs, even though they are not as sharp as the MBA ones.I highly doubt the legitimacy of this, mainly because of the screen resolution.
They put 1440x900 in the 13" MBA but stay the same in the new MBP? I highly doubt that.
Mini-DisplayPort was the safest bet but it does mean new monitors, again. So if this proves true, and you want to use an external monitor and Lightpeak peripherals, you'll have to use some kind of Y cable with a minidisplay port adapter on one side to connect up to whatever your monitor offers (which probably isn't MDP) and a light peak adapter on the other side (since the connector isn't MDP shaped)...
Makes sense.
Dell's updated XPS systems showed up. It was surprising to see the fastest dual core Core i7 as the entry level for the 15 inch model.I can't wait for Steve to just retire.
Rumored for the 6 Series, not realized for P67/H67, and listed again for Z68.Sandy Bridge is SUPPOSED to have USB 3.0 built-in natively.
For some reason I doubt that Apple would downgrade the current 320M to Intel's HD 3000 graphics.

If this is spec of new one to come than probably I'm better off keeping my 2010 MBP, thanks Apple for saving me money.
Or D) the old and new MBP simply have the same weight, same body. Only the innards changed. Sound like Occam's razor to me.
As for the intel logo on the box I have my own theory. It would seem that apple and intel have been working closely on this one as intel is holding a light peak event tomorrow the same day as the rumored relase. It seams likely that apple will have a strong presence at the event and be the lightpeak launch partner. In return intel gets put on the box. That's my thinking though.
Yeah so what you are you complaining about then?
I agree, one with three MDP ports on the back instead of USB2, or one with some kind of uber proprietary USB/TB combination port.
I'd love to see where Apple would go with this if the rumor holds true.
Don't forget the price . . . which I think was around $1299 or something for a 15" with the fastest and most up-to-date Core i7.
And they are worth 10 times what Dell is. Apple trades volume for margin. Other manufacturers make next to nothing on their computers. Apple's margins are over 30%.
I'm sorry, but I cannot accept that these specs are real. I've posted a somewhat longwinded explanation why on my blog. I'll post the main reason here.
The specs list dual-core Intel Core i5 processor; 3MB shared level 3 cache. This doesnt conform to the wording of the iMac Tech-Specs, which does not feel the need to mention that it is Dual-Core. The only model which lists the number of cores is the Quad-Core i7 iMac. In my opinion, it makes sense to mention that fact here, as Dual-Core has become common and people expect it now-a-days. Quad-Core, not so much, and its a good idea to draw attention to that fact. Also; the 3MB Cache strikes me as strange. None of Intels i5 processors with a 3MB Cache run at 2.3GHz. In fact, the only i5 processor that runs at that speed is the Quad-Core Sandy Bridge processor with a 6MB cache.
