I'm not an expert but that I/O configuration shown in that picture looks EXACTLY like the one on my 13" MBP except it looks as if someone replaced the mini display port logo with a thunderbolt. For some reason I doubt that Light Peak looks exactly like a mini display port.

I'm guessing that at least that picture is fake.

You are still exaggerating. :)

It's got the i5 in it. Somehow an i5 is severely underpowered? I'm not sure what planet you are from.

Interesting how you choose the only powerful component in there :D
Obviously this is a big CPU bump :)

As much as I am bitching, call me crazy but I am still considering buying one with my student discount and sticking an SSD in there.
I'm not denying that the MBP is still an awesome computer all around (though it doesn't have much to do with specs), I'm just saying I clearly won't be getting a good deal there, which is probably why I'm so whiny now

Are they really discontinuing the white Macbook?

Because its still shipping within 24 hours on the apple website while all the MBP's are shipping within 3-5 days.

i'm def buying a lower end 13" the dc-in board on my powerbook g4 died and i think it is just time to upgrade than sink more money into an old machine.

So assuming they do get announced tomorrow will the brick and mortar apple store actually have them i wonder? will best buy have them? anyone have any experience with buying the day of the announcement.

I just have a comment about the light peak
Or thunderbolt that the USB port shape was just for show and that when it came out it would be a different port shape so it is kinda possible

I've been trying to read this thread post for post but its growing so quickly I'll never catch up.

One thing is for sure, there are a bunch of spec whores that would be complaining no matter what Apple put inside posting. if your not happy take your money elsewhere.

Where's liquid metal, where's BlueRay, where's USB 3.0. Are you nuts?

These spec's are GREAT for an entry level MacBook.

You do know the lightpeak port can be used for Video Output ? Therefore it makes sense to make it backwards compatible with the mini-display port so that Apple do not have to rush out a refresh of the Cinema Displays.

Going on the leaked pricing from BestBuy I am guessing they wont be replacing the white macbook and this MBP will be $1099

I agree, I thought Apple would have chosen the i3 to be more cost-effective on the 13"

yeah except I think the HD3000 gpu is only available with the i5 or i7 and only with some versions of those cpus.

IF they went with i3 I bet they would have had to include a dedicated vid card.

Why is everyone responding, don't worry its only the "low" end 13" MBP model? Who ever bought the current $1499 13" MBP model? I thought it was a pointless buy to go with the higher model which had a slightly faster processor (2.4 to 2.66) and larger hardrive (250gb to 320gb) for an extra $300, which to me wasn't worth it. Now if the higher end model has an ssd and faster processor then and then only will it be worth the extra $300. Lets hope thats the case, or else this release will be a complete disappointment. I was looking to only buy the $1199 model but it looks like im going to need to shell out some more cash for a worthy upgrade.

Exciting. But I'm totally sick of all these leaks. Apple needs to get it together and ship their products in 1-foot thick lead boxes so even superman can't leak the next gens.

Well, I think all connectors are basically just cables organized in a certain way. If Apple wants to do it in a way that fits with the current look of the Mini Display Port they could probably do that without much trouble. They would have to make an adapter to make the port functional with the "standard" connector though.

i just hope these are specs/pics for white macbook replacement.

having ssd for system in mbp would be huge change.

my colleague has new mba and when it comes to speed it's much faster than my mbp 13" late 2009 - and it has slower cpu, less ram

ssd makes huge difference.

if new pro line will feature what we've read in earlier rumors than i'm selling my mbp.

but if these specs are for mbp 13" then no point to sell mine.

was even thinking about mba 13 for a while but that slower cpu isn't really for me (i'm web dev so vmware is running on it most of the time)

what they could do is completely drop normal hdds and slot-in drives in mbp and bring design of pro series more to something like mba

i used my slot-in drive only few times, could live without it and have an optional external drive if i really need it.

So it doesn't seem like they removed the CD drive, nor did they put in an SSD for the system, and LightPeak isn't even USB back compatible, so well I guess the rumors were a bit exaggerated :D

LOL. I blame the ipad i'm typing on :p:D

Only joshing you.

But generally when it's confirmed legitimate on the front page news and with a photo as evidence we can assume that Arn and the team have confirmed with their sources that this is real and from more than one source to clarify it's legitimacy.

"We can assume" .. no we can't..

"a photo as evidence".. photoshop.. people (including me) have already expressed opinions that the photo is fake.. Did you not see my first post regarding that (including an image of the iPod box to show that FaceTime is a trademark)?

"more than one source".. it doesn't mention that.. therefore, your opinions are based on assumptions..

Liquid Metal was not at all expected, only people asking for it. But not for Blu-Ray and USB 3.0. I don't know how 1200$ looks entry-level for you. And for a computer thats supposed to be 'Pro' it should be there.

"Exact same hardware" means more than CPU, RAM, HD and Video card.

really? cuz no way I'll shell out $500 for lightpeak and an aluminum case.

1280x800? netbooks have better
I can get a mid range i5 is most laptops now for under $800
I can get MUCH better GPU's in machines under $800.

Can you tell me what HW on the new 13in is worth another $500? because because CPU/RAM/HD/GPU is 75% of the hardware

The picture of the intel logo does seem suspicious. If it's true, maybe Apple is getting a cut and that's why they can afford to drop it 100 dollars.
