I'm just gonna start calling the Thunderbolt port Thunderport for short. A bit silly name still, but it's not really anything to make a fuss about.

They could be- I mean, is this guy just going to place this Macbook (if it is real, it's a Macbook, not a Macbook Pro) back in its box opened and sell it? I guess he could be the manager and keep it for himself, but I'm sure Apple requires 2 people to be present before the whole case is sealed to confirm no one tampered with it...

idk macrumors says its real..

Update is very meh. Not bad but not great either. I find it weird they are using a 2.3 i5, I didn't know they had that clock speed on those for some reason. For the price you know they will charge it should be a 2.66 i5 500GB HDD, suck it up and add more ports no of this combined sh**, it won't make it look bad.

I knew the graphics card was going to be Intel. Some could say "Well just get teh 15 or teh 17, but good lord those are wretchedly overpriced for what you get. Apple isn;t to blame, their customers are for continuing to buy lower specs from them. If no one bought it they would be forced to play the spec game and in return have kick butt computers.

One day the pixie dust will wear off and they will do better on specs, but thats a ways off.

Yesterdays technology at tomorrows prices ;)

PS if this is a Macbook replacement then thats actually fine. And thunderbolt is a horrid name. Lightpeek sounded better.

I'm not disappointed in the slightest :), the sony has the HD 3000 as well of course.

Funny, so two crappy GPUs are suddenly better then one crappy GPU? Its not like you can use them in parallel anyway.

So basically, you people argue that the Sony laptop which is 50% as thick, has about half the battery and a similarly performing GPU system is supposed to be better then this leaked Macbook? I guess there are things I'll never understand...

I was right.

You were right.

The issue was your first post made it sound like they were available for sale at the store -- not just that they had arrived in black-sealed pallets. But good on you, you were right. They are here.

You still didn't post any photos, though.

ALRIGHT everybody just CALM DOWN! May I suggest pouring a nice tall drink this evening, have a good long sleep (for clarity this does not mean refreshing the Apple Webstore every 10 seconds) and wake up tomorrow and you will have all your answers with no need to speculate further!

And if you're still disappointed - it's only a machine.

Bravo!

All this speculation, moaning and general chit chat does make for great reading on a Wednesday night when TV is awful!

why doesnt apple just announce a release date?...******!!! if people are going to buy either way!

No, we're addicted.

Look on the bright side....

Yes and there will be people which accept this excuse.

Such a long waiting cycle and then we get useless "Thunderbolt"

You get to buy a dongle to convert the proprietary LightPeak/MiniDisplay port connector to MiniDisplayPort.

You get to buy a dongle to convert the proprietary LightPeak/MiniDisplay port connector to VGA.

You get to buy a dongle to convert the proprietary LightPeak/MiniDisplay port connector to DVI.

You get to buy a dongle to convert the proprietary LightPeak/MiniDisplay port connector to Dual-Link DVI.

You get to buy a dongle to convert the proprietary LightPeak/MiniDisplay port connector to USB3 (so that you can actually use high speed peripherals that you can buy today).

Jobs loves those dongles - they're almost pure profit.

Grating against minimalism...

Might not be a great refresh, but for those wanting a new 13" MBP its better than before. Good chip, solid construction, great battery...

It's enough for me to only press refresh every 20 seconds.

Has anyone considered the possibility that the white MacBook is being axed, the new MacBook Pros remain at the same price points, and the void is supposed to be filled by slightly cheaper 11" MacBook Airs? That makes sense to me...

It really looks like apple are going to replace the white plastic 13" with this new one.

Question is what will be the difference of the two new 13" models.

Windows 7 is extremely stable and reliable. Do not spread FUD. Also, Lenovo has new laptops that have up to 15 hours of life with standard batteries. Apple does not lead the pack in hardware or software, only presentation.

I can't believe some people actually think Apple's computers process magical bits. Their stuff is just NOT "better".

My work gave me a brand new lenovo with an i3 in it and it says 6 hours of batter life on the box.. i can't even get 3 out of it doing just web and email. Sure windows 7 is a step up, but i was mosly referring to the reliability of the laptops themselves. Almost everyone i knew in college who started off with an hp/dell/whatever PC had it completely die on them within 2-3 years.
Apple laptops are more stable and more reliable and the OS is 1000 times better. Sure your grandma probably doesnt need one, but I am much more effecient using SL than i am with any windows OS. Also windows copies everything from apple, and they dont even do it well. I do music production and an i5 is going to greatly improve the amount of rtas plugins I can load w/o killing the cpu. I dont give a **** if starcraft 2 doesnt run on high settings, if you do, get a PC. If you've never owned a mac then you have never experienced how much smoother everything is. If you dont have one you cant judge it on specs alone. I was like you befor i got one, but i got sick of windows crashing on every update that came out. I thought they were too expensive too.. i picked one up and I will never ever ever go back. I tried both worlds, hell i even own a pc (granted its a hackintosh now), And my experience with apple laptops is much better.
