Well- write him and offer to sign donor registration cards (and fax in proof) if the mbs come by the 30th. He cares about the issue--it would drive up organ donation and we'd get new macbook pros.

I'm giving Mr. Jobs the benefit of the doubt. He pulled down the iPad ad on the front page to pay tribute to his lost board member. AND, he pulled it down for more than one business day.

That showed class. Then his work with CA on the organ donor notification. I'm willing to wait a little longer now.

Never have someone's emails been so scrutinized.

I wonder if, on the bottom, they have that legalese paragraph: "The information contained in this email is confidential and meant for the recipient . . . "

No Mac Book Pros until around WWDC. Apple has to worry about fall back to school sales and the constrained chip supply is another reason why it was updated early this year.

Somehow I doubt there are hundreds of thousands of MBP's in a warehouse, all ready to go, just waiting for the green light from above. They're being made somewhere in China . . . just be patient . . . not to worry!

I imagine him getting all these super long emails from lawyers/VPs/Marketing Director/Ive and he just responds with "yes" "no" "maybe" "I'll take care of it" "No big deal". So great.
I do that all the time at work.

right but if he responds to some person "okay" you know that he probably has them good to go anyway and wants to further his cause. If he doesn't repsond, it's not a good sign it's coming soon. On the plus side--it helps two good caues.

1) we find out when they are coming
2) more people donate organs,

Way to go Steve! Thanks for replying, and letting people know there is nothing to worry about.

I'm impressed

The fact he responded at all is going above and beyond his responsibility or obligation to his loyal following. The fact is, there is an MBP on the market today. If you need it, go buy it. Otherwise, wait to upgrade like the rest of us. Patience is a virtue.

wow.. people these days.

an update wasn't promised. it's all speculation and people are emailing the poor guy telling him they've lost faith when nothing was put in WRITING by apple themselves?

get a life... seriously

where is the e-mail??? I smell a bogus story. Steve Jobs e-mailed some guy who got his e-mail? Please

Well Steve, I 'won't worry' as I go out, without an update, and regretfully buy a Vaio Z tomorrow since the MBA is so terribly outdated. I've waited and waited as patiently as possible, but my dell is crapping out and I need to do something.

Ok, I have something to say to these people (I'm sure it's been said before):

Do it. Buy the PC. I dare you. Enjoy your WINDOWS... now, **** cause you're not going anywhere. No, you aren't and 'Steve' knows it. No, stop, you aren't. Apple owns you, and you love it. I love it. We all love it.

I know you're blowing off steam, but really... find another way, you just sound foolish.

What to do

So - my brother, whom I've told to wait, is still waiting.

So, WTF did you tell him to wait? Are his computer needs going to magically change when new hardware comes out? If the current models do what he needs, you've done no good for anyone.

I'm beginning to look like a fool.

And I'm just getting started!

What should I tell him? He wants a MacBook Pro!! But I don't want him coming to me moaning that he's spent a fortune on a computer that, a few days later, is old technology.

If he wants a MacBook Pro, LET HIM BUY ONE without your "Oh I know SO MUCH" geekiness getting in the way. If he's planning on using this for work, I hope he sues you for the time he's lost as you pissed around for your own glory.

What do I do?

Leave other people alone and retract your opine that you know everything? It'd be a start.

Stop the presses...in world news, MR forum poster 'Paperboy2010' has come to the decision to purchase a Sony laptop rather than waiting for a MBP update with which to replace his Dell. The population at large lets out a collective "who gives a crap?", and goes back to what they were doing.
