There is no "out of date" MBP

So all of you who are getting teary eyed about how 'old' your MBP is...

I'm rockin my Dual 2ghz G5.

It's still friggin fast. Yes, the current/new MBP is a gazillion times faster.

So shhhh... even if you have to wait till June.

(no, i could care less about games, thank you)

Stop the presses...in world news, MR forum poster 'Paperboy2010' has come to the decision to purchase a Sony laptop rather than waiting for a MBP update with which to replace his Dell. The population at large lets out a collective "who gives a crap?", and goes back to what they were doing.

Film at 11.

More like direct to VHS.

So - my brother, whom I've told to wait, is still waiting.

I'm beginning to look like a fool.

What should I tell him? He wants a MacBook Pro!! But I don't want him coming to me moaning that he's spent a fortune on a computer that, a few days later, is old technology.

What do I do?

not to worry, it's already old technology

Tommorow would be awesome. I just bought a new MBP 2.8ghz 15in on fri because i couldnt wait any longer and needed it for my job. Atleast i got the $200 off for the stundent discount. :) and thats a pretty sweet deal. i was informed at the store from a manager that if the new MBP comes out within 30 days of my purchase i can exchange mine for the new model. just has to cost $2299 or less or i pay the difference if it cost more. if it doesnt, its not the end of the world for me. this laptop is still amazing in every way. im loving it!!!! i came from a mac mini 2009 2.0ghz core2.

I am very sorry to say this but if the next Macbook Pro refresh isn't something truly amazing and mesmerizing (like an all in one lap top with a good graphics card) I am going to go to the darkside.

I am kind of tired of paying a premium for aesthetics and better battery life (well with the difference I could buy 3+ batteries for a decent lap top), I will certainly miss the design and the overall quality of hardware, but I simply can not live with mac's outdated graphics card.

My iMac's hard drive died two months ago, the computer being less than two years old and no longer under warranty. Really upset, I was about to abandon the Mac. Went on the girlfriend's XP box and downloaded Ubuntu live so I could browse for PC parts from my dead iMac, only to find out Windows doesn't even know what to do with ISO images! So I opted to replace the disk myself, but still disappointed it died so fast. Popped the OS install disk in, clicked to restore from Time Machine backup and went to bed. Woke up to my computer exactly as it was the last time I used it! This is when I realized staying on the platform was the best option. I hate aluminum macs (totally drooling over the unibody white MacBook, but the display's way too small) and I'm very unimpressed with component quality after this adventure. But the software that comes with the machines is hard to leave behind -- for me that's the Unix backend, Time Machine and iLife.

To make a long story short: not to worry ;)

Hmm. I thought their standard return policy was 2 weeks. Has that changed or is this a special "upgrade" policy? Does anyone know?

Well- write him and offer to sign donor registration cards (and fax in proof) if the mbs come by the 30th. He cares about the issue--it would drive up organ donation and we'd get new macbook pros.

AHAHAH yeah it definitely works that way; clearly whether or not he's sitting on a huge pile or wiping himself after eating mexican food with them, no rational company would try to market and release something this close to BEFORE the iPad comes out, I'd be really surprised if we hear anything at all until well after April 3rd. Also, he probably wants everyone's comp to crash watching NCAA tourny on cbs.com using flash so he can be like "see I told you to use HTML5"

a) a hard disk failing is NOT apple's fault

b) I totally agree, TM is so amazingly crucial for absolutely perfect full restore ESPECIALLY when HDDs fail due to a lemon from the third party factory or due to misuse (more common, obviously, in laptops than iMacs/Desktops 'cause they get more strain and torque and momentum changes that they're not designed for)

ironically, this was posted on a Monday. Apple is known to update things on Tuesdays =O

coincidence??

Very Thanks SJ

i am not mac user, I am Apple user since Apple II at 80´s. I am sure i am in the correct way because 20 year ago i saw a video with a guy at a park bank with a machine very similar to an iPad. 20 years!!! or SJobs travel in time or Apple rule the computer world. But with this delay with MBP i notice that Apple not only rule the computer world, also rule my life...it´s this attitude correct? Of course i will never get a windows machine than a mac but..... now i am not sure that i really need computers to be happy. I hope that i can keep the illusion. Thanks for be patient!!!

"I'm tired of waiting forever.."
Are you kidding? Since when is 2, maybe 3 moths equal to forever???

I'm starting to think apple fan boy = imature, whiney baby! Get a life, why don't you?

Any technology that you buy today, even if it just came out today, is already outdated!! Wait let me guess, you've never heard of Moore's Law?!?!?!

LOL. Try 9 months.

Apple is like a drug dealer, its products the drugs and it's users the junkies. Junkies get real cranky when they are withdrawing from not having a hit in a while..

Whe I read is response it feels like JOBS understand our plight for new stuff and they are in the process of getting in store. Obviously it take times and JOBS present a fresh hope ... it's comming ... let's just be patient.
