Are you sure these were MacBooks and not iBooks?

The MacBooks only have glossy screens, for one thing. But brightness wise, they have very bright screens (unless someone turned the brightness down)...... certainly nothing like the old iBook screens.

Also, what did you mean about the build quality being crap? The MacBooks are normally pretty sturdy....... I can't think of anything about it that I would describe as "crap" (solid keyboard keys, trackpad, solid hinge, etc.).

The screen certainly didn't look glossy. Yes I'm sure it was a MacBook. And I tried turning the brightness up, it was all the way up. I would tilt my head back and forth and the screen would get extremely dark.

Didn't the first generation MacBooks have the option of matte/glossy screens? Maybe that's why...

I don' tknow. I'll probably have another look sometime.

Nope. They have always been glossy. The only ones with the options were the MacBook Pros released after the MacBook (which were the first C2D's???).

Nope, they've only been glossy.

Honestly not sure what you were looking at, but couldn't have been a MacBook if it had a matte screen. Must have been an iBook or something.

The MacBooks have very nice bright screens, and are very solidly built from what I've seen.

It was a MacBook. It was widescreen, and I took a photo of myself using Photo Booth.

It might have been a glossy screen. I didn't actually lean in or touch it to check, but god the screen was just awful.

And of course you weren't checking it out outside in extreme sunlight?

Don't know what to say then.

Every MacBook I've seen has had a pretty nice screen, very bright and evenly lit. Actually superior to the MBP screens, IMO.

You also said the build quality was terrible and I don't get that either, as every macBook I've seen at the Apple Store has been very solidly built.

i hope they put in some decent LCD panels

i heard the 15.4 inchers werent very good....something about users who also used XP noticing that the screens werent very good.

we should really banish all 6bit TN panels....they suck. 8bit IPS panels FTW

Anyone else having trouble connecting to any Apple stores? Like even getting to the front page?

Whoa, MR and the Apple store both timed out on me there. Seems fine now tho...twas probably firefox users hammering both company's servers

Has someone called the Apple store yet to confirm if new MBPs are coming?

For some reason, I can't see them releasing a BTO update to the MacBooks and doing a major revision change on the MBPs...

When??

Does anyone have any idea of approx. what time we will know of the new macbook pro's?
