They have one hour until I'm in a workshop all afternoon. Not that I'll be buying unless a 13" MBP rears its head, but it would still be nice to know, you know? :)

Went to the US store, it was down. went back a few minutes later and it was up again. Macbook pro specs still the same but prices down by $200, $1799.$2299 and $2799.

So whats going on. Just price drops?

Then it was down again.

uk store down

**WARNING TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT DO NOT WATCH THE APPLE STORE OR MACRUMORS FOR THE NEXT TWO AND A HALF HOURS**

(i.e. Brace yourselves, this could be seriously mediocre. It would have been on Monday at the WWDC otherwise.)

No, Apple rarely drops prices. Especially when their products sell so well. It wouldn't come back up and then go back down... They would have kept it up if they were done. Plus it is taking forever for just price drops.

The US Store is down right now. COME ON APPLE!

I guess I am in the lucky position in that I am really happy with my 2.16ghz 17" MBP and that I need to get a new one because someone in my company is going to get my current one so even the current line is an upgrade on a machine I love. My main reason for wanting them to upgrade today is that it really p's me off when I buy a new machine and it gets updated the following week.

Come on APPLE!

I can't wait to see the new specs. Still waiting after WWDC to buy partly just to see what happens but mainly because I can't afford it till them! :D

So for this free nano thing, it's a mail-in rebate? That's stupid... I wish it could be an instant credit at time of purchase.

It's weird that when you are on the UK Store's "We'll be back soon" page...the iPhone tab appears. I guess they are just pulling that page directly from the US Store and simply change the URL...who knows!

Anyway, does anyone see a magnetic latch as a possibility? I would LOVE to see that make its way to the MBP.

yep even my company store apple page is down :)

my guess is most peeps will hate whatever it is :D

im betting nothing more than a basic SR update.

thats new CPU's, new chipset, same speed ram....maybe more of it, maybe bigger hard disks and well really DX10 gpus are not needed, not for OSX anyways so they dont have to update those...tho it would be nice and if they do it id imagine it'll probably be a Gefore 8.... possibly the GS. seems better suited to a 1inch chassis

X1600 = long in the tooth, though will be still making the rounds in a product named the AMD mobility 2500XT which apparently is a rebadged x1600LE.

the other non HD pre-fixed mobility card, the 2300 is a rebadged x1400. sneaky or what.

I do hope there is a 8600 GT(256MB) pls pls... the graphics card is all that stands btwn me and my first mac ... been loong wait though :(

I hope so too; it sounds really good. Efficient power use, hardware decoding of HD content and DX10 compatible... :D

So...

Are we gonna see a smaller-than-15" MBP?

I went and looked at some MacBooks today... the build quality was seriously crap. But I really don't want to get a large laptop... Also, the screens on the MB's are really bad... although I don't think the one I looked at had a glossy screen. It reminded me of the old iBooks, with the dimmest, worst screens I've ever seen and the narrowest viewing angles. Apple's low-range laptops tend to ess you see kay.

Are you sure these were MacBooks and not iBooks?

The MacBooks only have glossy screens, for one thing. But brightness wise, they have very bright screens (unless someone turned the brightness down)...... certainly nothing like the old iBook screens.

Also, what did you mean about the build quality being crap? The MacBooks are normally pretty sturdy....... I can't think of anything about it that I would describe as "crap" (solid keyboard keys, trackpad, solid hinge, etc.).
