Please elaborate?
He is poking fun at the brain-damaged commenters who claim that Apple is getting out of the computer business.

They make such ridiculous claims despite the fact that the Mac product line generates half of the company's revenues, has great margins and that half of all Macs are sold to new customers. Likely, these geniuses aren't reading Apple's quarterly financial statements.

If Apple can't give us a Core IX processor with dedicated graphics in the 13 inch. I would rather see a really fast Core 2 Duo with great dedicated graphics, then. Rather than a Core IX with integrated graphics.

This really screws me up as a first time Mac buyer.
I planned on getting the MBP 13" in June. Possibly the 15". But not now since it's more expensive.

Bad move, Apple.

We don't even know what these prices signify. Relax.

That would be awesome if the lack of integrated superdrive allowed for less weight, more ram or HDD/SSD space, better graphics and better heat flow. I would gladly carry an external superdive or use my DVD drive on my desktop. Also for those who want Blu-Ray they could buy an external BR drive and couldn't complain that apple sucks because they don't have blu ray:rolleyes:

IMO no internal superdrive+cheaper price and better performance=Happy ME! lol

I agree

This is what I think....
Apple is now focused on iPods, iPhones and iPads because that's where they make most their money! Imagine how much they are making in music, app and book sales, and now they have iAd for those devices.... I'm not surprised this update has taken that long. They have even stopped the Apple vs. PC ads...

You might think that, but you'd be wrong.

I know this is a rumor. The 13's will probably get new chips! If not then Apple needs to slash the price because it would be wrong to charge someone $1,199 for em!

But honestly I couldn't imagine Apple leaving the outdated C2D in the 13's! That would turn into an all you can eat buffet for the PC trolls...

And you know what? I wouldn't even defend Apple against the trolls! Because for once I would kinda agree with them haha :(

I agree. If the 15" and 17" get updated, and the 13" is still left with the same specs, (and no, a higher clocked C2D with the same 9400M is basically the same thing), it would be ridiculous. I'd agree with most of the anti Apple people here. Hopefully that won't happen.

I love my 13"

And so does my wife. She uses it often.

But - going to a 15" - him - might be a bit too big. I have an SSD - and won't have another MBP without one. The 17" is way to big - it would totally freak my wife out.

15" thoughts?

Tommy

I suspect that this is a partial list. I think all anyone could ever conclude about this 'leak' is that new MacBook Pros are due. I wouldn't get too hung up over the details because they're probably inaccurate.

What? No 13"! I wanted a 13"!
Why is apple doing this to us?
Again, it might be a supply issue.

Apple sells more of the 13" model than the 15- or 17-inch models. Or it might simply be an incomplete rumor fragment. No one will really know for sure until after Apple has made their announcement, whenever that will be.

As Steve wrote, 'not to worry.' When Apple is ready to release 13-inch models, they will do so. It's easier for them to sell the older existing model with zero supply constraints rather than sell a new model with moderate-to-severe supply constraints. Lack of availability would hurt sales more than an older product line.

I will point out that despite the long delay in the MacBook product line update, Apple's sales figures are quite impressive, with ongoing Year-over-Year increases.

Whatever outrage you feel about the delay in the MacBook upgrade, I assure you that Joe Consumer doesn't feel the same way. Trust me, when Apple announces their earnings from the recently concluded Q2, they will impress once again.

My biggest complaints as a long-time AAPL shareholder are A.) they haven't split the stock since 2005 (I'd like to see 4-1), and B.) there is a high risk of stubbing my toe against one of these very large sacks of money strewn all over the place.

:D

I have a bad feeling about the 13" models. Core 2 + 9400M G might be around for far too long.

Only if Apple has stockpiled the C2D CPUs.... Intel shuts old techology lines down after the new lines are ramped up.

C2D isn't even listed on the Intel processors web page anymore (http://www.intel.com/products/processor/index.htm). There's a link near the bottom for View previous-generation laptop products.

i'm only interested in the 13" uMBP, i am hoping for anti-glare option, usb 3.0, and higher-res on this update. other specs don't really matter to me. this time i think i will wait for the refurbs rather then new.

...The 17" is way to big - it would totally freak my wife out.
that's not what she said! :D

well, here is to hoping sooner than later. i'm one of the many frustrated folks with an aging c2d (almost 18 months old) and have been wanting to upgrade for the longest time. i have the 15 inch and the resolution is just too pathetic to be useful. I hate the idea of having to buy a 17 inch to get decent graphics, but i imagine that will continue to be the case. either way, once it is released, i will be heading to one of the local apple stores to get is asap.

how do they know there's three 15" models and one 17"?

couldn't there be a 13", two 15", and a 17"?

or a 13" and three 15"?

i mean, don't they usually take a big longer to update the 17" anyway?

or maybe that was just going off of one time.
